DerrickI’d been fighting all my life.Making it my career choice seemed…logical.Sticking to what I was good at seemed…illogical as often as I ended up in the ER.Then my occupational hazard began to feel like more of a perk when I met, Katy. She was a night nurse at the ER I frequented. She could barely hide her contempt for me, which naturally made the curvy brunette with long wavy hair all … brunette with long wavy hair all the more irresistible.

Katy
They called him Dagger, for the looks he gave.
He knew I hated him on sight, but still, he teased me and tried to sway me.
There’s no way it would work. I was on the run and still healing from a relationship with a ‘roid-raging powerlifter. No way was I going to give it a go with someone trained to cause pain for a living.
Then my ex tracked me down. And suddenly, having a fighter in my corner didn’t seem like such a bad idea.

This is the first book in this series and what a kickoff. I absolutely enjoyed reading this one. Dagger is a fighter. He ends up coming to the emergency room quite a bit for different things. One night he ends up meeting a nurse that wont give him the time of day. But she has her own story to tell. These two end up meeting somewhere outside of the hospital when she needs help. Dagger is welling to help her because he sees something in her. But will these two become something? I absolutely loved this one. Dagger(Derrick) and Katy are two amazing characters. I loved the chemistry between these two and the story they have to tell. I cant wait to read more from this series.
Wow! I was hanging on the entire read and was not disappointed. From the start, I could feel something special about Dagger, his strength, his determination and this amazing heart. His connection with Katy was off the charts and drew me in. I adored her, her past, her sheer will. My heart felt for her. I loved every bit of this story.
Derrick is back in the hospital again after his MMA fight to get his wounds fixed. This trip was not like every other thanks to the new night nurse, Katy. Derrick was determined to show Katy that he is not just some dumb fighter. She tried to ignore Derrick when he came in on her shift at the ER since she thought he was no different than her ex-boyfriend who she was running from. Her ex-boyfriend tracks her down and suddenly having Derrick around is a great thing.
Dagger is the first novel in the new Vegas MMA series by S.L. Sterling which is told in the dual first-person point of view. This was my first novel by S.L. Sterling and I enjoyed the way she was able to create the suspenseful feeling while reading the book. I could actually sense the fear in Katy she was experiencing while being on the run thinking her ex had found her. Once the trust was gained between Dagger and Katy your heartstrings are tugged at hard.

New Series! This is book one in the Vegas MMA series. Derrick has always been a fighter so it was a no brainer for him to make a career out of it. This career choice comes with the consequence of ending up in the ER. One night he meets Katy, she is a new ER nurse and was working the night shift when he came in. Katy comes with secrets. Derrick sees her move into the motel, can he convince her to trust him? This is a new author for me and what a bonus to be introduced with a new series. This book was a great read, the story flowed so well and the writing is well done. Derrick and Katy are amazing together and it was a pleasure to see them transition and realize their HEA. Enjoy!

This is the start of a new series from SL Sterling. It was well written with interesting characters, drama, suspense and serious chemistry.
Dagger is an up-and-coming MMA fighter and is a regular in the ER getting fixed up after winning his fights. One night he meets new nurse Katy and the connection between them is palpable with serious chemistry despite the fact she tries to ignore him and act like she doesn’t like him.
With Katy having to deal with a dangerous situation from her past can Dagger keep her safe? Katy is soon unable to deny her feelings for Dagger.
If there is one type of book I love more than the rest, it is romantic suspense. Throw a fighter into the mix and I am down. After reading the blurb for Dagger I was excited to dive in, but I I have mixed feelings about my first book from S.L. Sterling.
While I didn’t quite know what to make of him the first time I met him, Dagger grew on me. He was down on his luck for sure, but he never counted himself out. He knew he was destined for better things and he worked his tail off to make that happen. But when he came face to face with the nurse who wasn’t interested in his brand of alpha, but clearly needed his help, it brought all his protective instincts rushing out.
I admired Katy’s independence and strength. And the more I learned about all she had lived through and came out on the other side of, the more I rooted for her. And as she spent more time with Dagger, she started to lose her pre-conceived notions she had made about him. She saw his dedication, his persistence, his goodness and she couldn’t help but fall for him.
Was it predictable that Katy’s past was going to catch up to her. Yes. Did it make me less anxious when it happened? Nope. I could feel the fear pouring off them both. Thankfully, Dagger was on his game and was able to cut off the threat before too much damage had been done. The ending was sweet and I was glad to see they both got what they wanted, a future with each other.
What a quick but powerful read! Derrick, also known as Dagger, spends his days going through the same cycle of prepping for a fight and then ending up in the ER to assess the injuries from the big fight. A regular in the ER, he starts his usual routine only to be thrown by the new nurse that doesn’t fall for his charm. Katy is on the run from her abusive ex-boyfriend, and sees so much of him in Dagger that she can’t wait to get him fixed up and discharged. But when she thinks her ex has found her and tries to run, she runs into none other than Dagger, and after breaking down and telling him what’s going on, he decides to help. Working together to keep her safe, Katy also realizes he’s different from her ex and they explore the chemistry and feelings they develop. When Katy’s ex finds her and kidnaps her though, everything changes and Dagger gets involved in the fight for her (and his) life. A shorter story but a great storyline and can’t wait to see what happens next in this series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This 4 star story was a fast paced insta love that was read in one sitting.
Dagger is a fighter who wishes to make it big. One night in the ER he meets a nurse who doesn’t take any crap from him. Katy is running from something. They will form an alliance that will lead to more.
An alpha protective hero that will do anything to protect Katy. It was a quick read that sucked me in. It was entertaining and addictive. I love protective hero’s. These characters were perfect I’ve created.
Standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I recommend this story.
Katy shes on the run from a man that thinks roids are major food group her ex. But at least shes able to do her job in the ER until her ex finds her again how is he tracking her. While working in the ER she patches up and MMA fighter just another guy who enjoys pain or so she thinks. But she wont have to see him again write. Dagger the world of MMA fighting has had its ups and downs for me I’m down on my luck and after another MMA fight I need some medical attention were I meet Katy she may have to patch me up but its obvious she cant stand me why. Some people cant get second chances and now Katy’s ex has found her again shes hiding in a slimy no name motel and her neighbor is the guy she hoped to avoid seeing again but when she cant turn to anyone else she tells Dagger her secret they try to get her ex of her trail but hes not going stay away for long just as Katy and Dagger find love her past comes back this is one fight Dagger cant afford to loose.

Dagger by S.L. Sterling is the First book in the Vegas MMA Series. This is the story of Katy and Derrick ‘Dagger’. Derrick has had to fight his whole life but turned that into a living which leads him to the ER a lot. So when he is taken to the ER for one of his routine visits he sees the regular workers there but then he meets a new worker…Katy. Of course she takes his breath away but she isn’t giving into his flirting. Katy has her own issue by staying away and safe from her ex. So when she meets Derrick she knows how things would go and she just doesn’t have it in her to take a chance. But then he starts to show her who he really is and of course he is there for her when she needs the help. Really enjoyed their story and can’t wait for more stories from this author!
This is the 1st in a n new series and what an amazing beginning this story is. Dagger is an MMA fighter who is a regular visitor at the ER, and when he meets the new nurse Katy, he is thrown that she does not like him. No spoilers: this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed. This is a well written tale which is action packed, with an abusive ex, and with drama, intrigue, danger, suspense, complex characters, which all lead to a thrilling and steamy addictive page turner. I highly recommend this talented authors’ work for all.
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Once I started I could not put the book down from start to finish you just could not get enough with twists and turns hot and steamy like a rollercoaster ride of emotions that makes you want more with Derrick a fighter ended up in ER after a fight and that is when he met Katy he liked her a lot but she did not like him. Then circumstances changed.
Thank you for allowing me to review your book.

Derrick “Dagger” Delgado is a MMA fighter who is trying to catch a break and make it to the big fights in Vegas. But until then he frequents the local hospital where all of the nurses and doctors know him well. One night he meets a new nurse, Katy, who isn’t easily swayed by Dagger and wants to stay as far away from him as possible despite all of the nurses raving about how kind he is.
Katy was on the run from her ex, Jonas, a roid-filled bodybuilder and had no desire to get involved with a MMA fighter. She had already escaped one abusive relationship and didn’t want to be near anyone who may hurt her again.
Yet when Katy thinks that Jonas has found her she may need someone like Dagger in her corner.
This was a great quick read that I really enjoyed.
I thought Dagger was a great character and I liked how well he treated the nurses and how much he joked around with them. I was definitely worried about what he was putting his body through but I understood why he did it.
I gave Katy so much credit for escaping Jonas and how much effort she had to put into it. I was shocked though when Dagger revealed how much information Jonas could find by having her gmail account. Now I need to look into that myself! I knew why she was weary about getting involved with anyone, no matter how nice she was told they were after everything Jonas had put her through.
There was chemistry between Katy and Dagger right away but it wasn’t until certain events happened that Katy began to trust him and let him know everything she was facing. I loved how much Dagger helped her with everything and did what he could to keep her safe.
As soon as a certain event happened I knew what was coming and I wasn’t wrong. It broke my heart on how guilty Dagger felt but I knew he would get to Katy!
The end was awesome and I can’t wait to see more of these two hopefully in the rest of the series as we head to Vegas!

This was a great start to a new series that I am very much looking forward to reading. Derrick “Dagger” is an MMA fighter and meets new ER nurse Katy when he needs to get fixed up after a fight. Their story is well written, full of tension, drama, and plenty of steam.

Dagger is a struggling MMA fighter who just wants to make it big in the MMA world. He is living pay check to pay check, fight to fight. After each fight he usually ends up in the ER having to get stitches and scans to make sure there is no internal damage or broken bones. At his last trip he meets Katy, the new ER nurse who hates him on sight because she is running from her ex-boyfriend who was an abusive roid monkey, so seeing the sexy MMA fighter Dagger in her ER is the last thing she wants to deal with. But when the ex starts finds her and starts following her around town she turns to Dagger for help.
I enjoyed this story but I just didn’t connect with the story. I liked that Dagger was so sweet, understanding and caring when it came to Katy and her issues. But I just felt like everything that happened to them was told to me after the fact. I would have liked to have seen some of the things that they did. But overall it was a quick and fun read. I will probably check out the others in this series as they are released.
A brand new author for me but one I am happy to have found. This is a great book but I haven’t read any previous ones. This one is about Dagger, a MMA who looks pretty bad after his latest match, even though he won. It was a tough match. He gets patched up in the ER, where he’s a regular, and meets Katy, a new nurse. She doesn’t appear to even remotely be interested in him. When he sees her moving into the motel, he knows something is amiss. She confides in him and asks him to be her bodyguard. Terrific story.

Fantastic. What a start to a new series. I’m already hooked and desperate for the next one. This story although a quick read packed a punch. It had everything I love in a book – chemistry, amazing characters and a brilliant storyline. I absolutely loved it and didn’t want it to end.
MMA fighter Dagger meets new nurse Katy in the ER after one of his fights. He’s smitten for her and she wants nothing to do with him. Running from her abusive roided up ex has her wanting to run in the opposite direction of Dagger. But she soon changes her mind when he unexpectedly steps in to save her one day. Can he protect Katy when she fears her ex has found her? A great start to a new series. Looking forward to the next one!
I really enjoyed this book! It was fast paced and flowed nicely. The turn of events were done beautifully and the ending was terrific!
