Family ties have never been so twisted…When Mom told me she was getting married again and moving her new husband and his twenty-four year old son in with us, I thought I’d just have to spend as much time as possible studying in the campus library to avoid all of them.I certainly never expected to learn that the marriage was simply a mutually beneficial arrangement for my mom and new stepfather, … my mom and new stepfather, Mr. Winters. They don’t actually have feelings toward each other. I also didn’t expect him and my stepbrother, Dominick, to be such handsome, Viking-like men. Or for them to take such an interest in me.
Now at the age of 19, I suddenly find I have the family I’ve always wanted. As we all grow closer, though, lines start to blur. When Daddy and big brother start pushing those boundaries even further, will I be ready?
Note: Contains dark, taboo themes and dubious consent.
INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHOR:
—Where did you get the idea for this book?
I’m fascinated by all kinds of taboo romance stories and have always wanted to write one. So one day, sort of on a whim in between my other scheduled stories, I sat down and started writing a really hot scene I couldn’t get out of my head. It had a ménage aspect to it—a young woman with her new stepfather and stepbrother—and thus the seed for this book was born. Then I had to go back and figure out the mystery of how they’d all gotten into this situation and where it would go on from there!
—What do you think of the whole new genre of stepbrother and stepdaddy books that has become so popular over the past few years?
I think it speaks to how attracted we are to taboo and forbidden romances. There are also such interesting psychological questions to be delved into, the same as all the BDSM books have ever since Fifty Shades—things that might make us a little uncomfortable as we look at questions of submission, dominance, punishment, reward, and how we sometimes just long for someone to take care of us in a cruel and often difficult world. Even if you don’t want to go that deep with it and instead let the characters wrestle with all that stuff, you can’t deny the suspense, sensuality, and heat levels that sizzle on the pages are hot, hot, hot!!!
—Who are some of your favorite authors?
Naturally, I love all authors who write dark the dark and dangerous! One of my new favorite authors is K Webster, who’s books adventure into dark romance in such a fabulously twisted and unique way. And then of course I bow down to some of the original queens of the genre like CJ Roberts and Aleatha Romig. I’m so excited that more and more readers are seeing that dark romance is where the all the action is!

I knew this was going to be dark but when it said dubious consent it meant rape. I didn’t like that at all and her stepbrother was a not innocent bystander. I can’t believe she forgave him. Overall the book was ok but I didn’t like that at all. However it was very steamy but not in a good way? Unless you like that.
This is not the story you think you will get when you read the title. What you get is something so much better. The family dynamics that are shown in this book portray almost every stereotype you might find in any book today. Where this book exceeds all others is that there is a method to the madness in the tale Stasia Black weaves within the pages. All Sarah wanted when she found out her drug addicted mother was getting married AGAIN was the family she never had. Paul Winters and his son Dominick seemed like the perfect Stepfather and Stepbrother a girl could ask for but in the end, reality ends up being only partially true. I loved the twists and turns the storyline has but it left me wondering whether Sarah would ever get her HEA. Great story that will suck you in from page one.
Steamy hot read!!!
Devoured in one day, absolutely riveting!
More than I expected and a definite recommend. Be prepared to have hot flashes!
omg this book! I will be reading again and again!!!
Woah.. perfect and realistic touch of the taboo plotline. Mfm and completely, utterly hot. Loved the dynamics in personality. Realistic storyline and enjoyed the twist in the end. Totally disliked the stepdad but for the book, it was a good addition to the plot that I think really stood out for me compared to the other stepfamily taboos ive read. Necessary evil of some sort.
Coincidentally reading another book from this author (something like an ugly duckling) and that’s a pretty riveting story as well that completely captured my attention. Ill be keeping an eye out for this new author (new to me, I mean).
OMG, this book. Wow. It was a shocker going on. I honestly had all kinds of feelz about this book. It was a roller coaster.
At 19, when Sarah’s mom is getting married for the 3rd time, she isn’t expecting anything good to come out of it. Sarah figures she’ll just spend as much time as possible hiding at the school library until her mother and this husband divorce or until she can get somewhere else to live. What she gets is a new Dad and big brother. Her new step-father insists that she call him Dad. Sarah, Dad, and Dom all get close and Sarah feels like she has a family for the first time in her life. When things start getting a little too close, Sarah wonders what’s happening.
Sarah’s step-father was a prick. A nasty, abusive prick, with some serious issues. I never liked him at all. Dom, though, he was a sweetie, especially when he wasn’t around his father.
I liked the story, overall. It’s very taboo. There are parts that can be intense for people, so be aware of that when you read it. I did have a small problem with the ending, not with how it ended, but it felt a little too abrupt. I would have liked to have seen an epilogue or just another chapter. But, that’s just my personal feelings. The story is complete as is, so that’s OK.
