THEY’VE GOT NO TIME FOR LOVE. BUT WHAT IF LOVE FINDS THEM FIRST?Em Georgiou looks like the sort of girl you take home to your family. But she’s got a PhD to finish and a career to kick-start first. And besides, Em likes men too much to settle down—much to her father’s exasperation.Joel Scott doesn’t do relationships. He’s too focused on his architecture business. So when his hard-to-please, … his hard-to-please, cut-throat developer client suggests that he ‘gets to know’ his daughter Em, Joel is prepared to add the spoiled daddy’s girl to his to-do list for the sake of his career. Except Em is way more capable than her father gives her credit for. And she’s certainly not the type of woman you strike off your to-do list.
Can Joel convince Em that he’s not just trying to impress her father? Or that you can fall in love when you don’t want to… even if it involves facing up to a dark past you’d rather forget?
A fresh new series set in beachside Sydney featuring high-achieving women and men who aren’t afraid to be challenged, from the author of the City Love books.

Em and Joel’s story was entertaining to read.
Em knows what she wants out of life…which is currently to complete her PhD and make a difference in the world. She does not have time for, nor want, a relationship…despite what her large Greek family wants for her. More importantly, her dad is constantly pushing guys her way hoping that she will fall in love, have a large Greek wedding, and settle down to start a family. She is already not looking forward to the guy her dad has set up for her to meet at the wedding she is in.
Joel is a successful business man that is currently working on a deal with a large developer. When the man he is trying to make a deal with says he should meet his daughter, Joel doesn’t want to say no for fear of losing the deal. When he meets Em, though, she is nothing like he expects her to be. She is smart, opinionated, and so much more than he bargained for. With neither of them wanting a relationship, and her interviewing for a job at his company, will they be able to keep a secret hook-up going…or were they destined to be a one-time fling?
This book was entertaining…and you knew Joel’s past would surface at some point. He guards his past so closely that you know something bad has happened which will continue to affect him. And it was interesting to watch Em evolve from the woman who wants nothing to do with any type of relationship to possibly falling in love. Characters from the previous books make appearances in this story so it was fun to see what they were up to. Overall, another good book in the series.
Emily Georgiou, or Em as she likes to be called, is a take charge kind of gal. She knows what she wants out if life and which path she’s going to take to get there. She is going for her PhD and is so close to achieving her goal. She doesn’t have time for serious relationships, but that hasn’t deterred her father from trying to set her up. Getting married and having 2.5 children has never been her dream, but that all may have changed as soon as she set her eyes on Joel Scott. Sure he is a work associate of her father, but he is different from any if the other men her father has offered up. What is it about him that has her imagining what her life would be like with him by her side?
Joel Scott, co-founder of Scott & Morris Architects, is trying to close on a deal with Em’s father. Surely taking Mr. Georgiou up on his offer to get to know his daughter could only increase his chances? It takes Joel by surprise how intelligent and sure of herself Emily is upon meeting her. She is nothing like he had pictured her in his head. Much like Em he isn’t into serious relationships, but something about her is making him want to try for more than just a casual hook-up. She is very skeptical of his intentions and has every right to be. How can he make her see that she is the one he wants to impress and not her father?
I love the Freshwater series. I like the fact that I found all the books enjoyable. I read them out of order, but they can be read as standalones if you wish.
Daddy’s Girl by Belinda Williams is the 3rd book in the Freshwater series. This happens to be the first book I’ve read by this author – I will definitely be reading more of her books in the near future. I love Emily who is a strong, smart, straightforward, no nonsense kind of character. I couldn’t help but love Joel who is honest but very reserved due to childhood trauma and a life changing event. Emily and Joel are convinced they are not relationship material. They never expected to find such a captivating soul in each other. These two have some relationship struggles and blunder a bit, but are so relatable and lovable you won’t want to put the book down.
5 stars!
Loved it! I really enjoyed this book and all of the characters. The story was great, there was just enough drama to go along with the romance for Joel and Em. Em is a fantastic character, she is independent, smart, funny, beautiful and she totally deserves Joel. My heart broke for Joel, I can totally see why he thought he didn’t deserve anything good in his life, but agree with his friend and business partner Nate, that he is a fighter and deserves everything good that has come into his life if not to make up for his crappy childhood. Em is perfect in the way that she reacted to finding out about Joel, she was in shock and left with her father but told Joel she would talk to him the next morning once she could wrap her head around everything, Joel being broken took that another way and leaves. I hated her dad for even butting in, in the first place and the way he didn’t even try to listen to Joel’s side of the story. Their story is sweet and I am actually kind of upset there wasn’t more to end on, I was hoping for an epilogue of some sort but in the end still an excellent read, and worth it.
Daddy’s girl by Belinda Williams is the third book in the Freshwater series. This book is another great addition to this series and I think probably my favourite so far! I loved Emily and Joel – there were such loveable characters that I found myself completely behind them from the moment I started reading. They were fun and had such chemistry, it really was entertaining to read about them!
The book, as with the previous ones, is well written and engaging from start to finish. It is a quick, easy read that will pull you in and keep those pages turning. This is a great book and one I would certainly recommend!
Daddy’s Girl (Freshwater Book 3) by Belinda Williams
There are so many things I love about this book. First is Emily being the main character, my younger daughter is Emily. Second is Aunty Em which is what we call my Emily when talking to my grandson. Third, holy cow Emily falls in love!
After reading the first two books in this series I really wasn’t sure how it would happen but it was spectacular. I loved Joel from the beginning, there was something about him that I instantly liked. The more I got to know him the more I liked him.
Joel has secrets and they are pretty big but with the upbringing he had I wouldn’t have expected anything else.
I have questions and hope this isn’t the end of this series. I’m going to hold out hope that there will be a book four.

Daddy’s Girl is the third book in the Freshwater series by Belinda Williams. I was immediately drawn to this book by the pretty cover- before I even knew anything more about it. Having read the previous books in the series- it was a given that I would be reading this one as well. This is a contemporary romance with a bit of a romcom feel- all about finding love unexpectedly.
This is Em and Joel’s story, who I really enjoyed ‘meeting’. They were lovingly crafted and well developed individuals- with their own unique personalities, quirks and flaws. They were entirely endearing and relatable which made it so easy to invest in them and the outcome of their story.
Another winning ‘recipe’ in the Freshwater series.
Thank you, Belinda Williams!
I enjoyed this book just as much as I did the last two! The characters are relatable and the setting seems wonderful to me. Was an easy book to read in an evening. Would recommend.
Daddy’s Girl (Freshwater Book 3) by Belinda Williams is a romantic comedy story. It has humour, emotion and drama which makes it relatable and interesting. The characters are endearing, and they are complete opposites but the attract each other and the fun begins. It is an easy and an enjoyable afternoon read. So, grab a drink and settle in for some fun and imagine that you to are at the Sydney beach side.
Em knows what she wants and goes after it and having a little fun on the way. Why can’t Daddy just be happy for her?
Joel is all business and no relationships. Em is not what he expected but will he be able to convince her that he is not just after Daddy’s business?
