After a serious injury leaves her father incapacitated, Sarah Taylor is faced with a stark choice. To keep the farm that has been in her family for generations, she will have to run it herself. But despite her best efforts, it quickly becomes clear that she is going to need help.Nick Martin is a champion bull rider, and when he accepts a job managing a farm he is just looking for a paycheck. But … paycheck. But then he meets Sarah, and from the moment he sets eyes on her, Nick can tell she is in desperate need of a man who will take her in his arms… and over his knee.
Over the coming weeks, Nick makes it his business to care not only for the farm, but for Sarah as well, and it isn’t long before she is calling him daddy. Though she blushes crimson as her cute little bottom is bared for a spanking, his firm-handed correction arouses her intensely, and when he claims her properly his hard, dominant lovemaking leaves her utterly spent and satisfied.
As Nick and Sarah work to see the farm through the rough winter months, their bond grows stronger each day. But with both of their lives haunted by past tragedies that tore their families apart, can Nick finally find a way to forgive himself and be the daddy his little girl deserves?

This beautifully written story had a plot that flowed effortlessly from page to page and the characters were so well detailed that I just had to read this book in one sitting! Sarah and Nick were two broken souls who captured my heart as I turned each page and they came to life pulling me right into their story as it flawlessly unfolded!
Sarah is over her head when it comes to the family farm and to top it off her father has no faith in her. He is holding her responsible for the death of her brother and the guilt is eating her inside out. Nick is the manager that is hired to come in and oversee the ranch he has his own demons and carries a world of hurt. Can these two souls come together and heal each other?

This well-written story elicited a cacophony of powerful emotions within my heart. I felt grief for the tragic loss of her brother that Sarah experienced, and heartbreak for the demeaning rejection she was forced to endure from her own father. Sarah’s self-image was so low that tears came to my eyes.
When Nick is hired to help run the farm, I felt the immediate tension, excitement and anticipation. But, Nick has his own demons to fight, which might prevent him from totally committing. Slowly, as their attraction grows, the two of them form a bond. Sarah needs rules and a powerful guiding hand, and Nick is just the person to provide them. Nick is strong, authoritative, and dominant. Sarah responds well to his rules and his stern discipline. I found their interactions exciting, compelling and just plain sexy.
This book sucked me in right from the beginning with its captivating story, fascinating characters and extremely hot discipline. Together, each character could find what they crave, if only they would allow it. Read this enthralling story for yourself, and see if they do.
Get ready to be wrapped in romance. This book has all the feels that I’ve come to expect from this author. Both Nick and Sarah have baggage that holds them back from totally opening up to one another and making a commitment. But that doesn’t stop them from heating up the pages and perhaps a certain naughty girl’s behind. If you like hot, built, take-charge cowboys; strong, intelligent, yet vulnerable female leads; and a storyline that will overwhelm you with heartbreak, romance, and all the emotions in between, this is the book for you. Great read.
This story is just absolutely scorching hot. It has quite a good story line, with very good characters. Sometimes though perhaps too stern? Or too willfull to dish out spankings. I always wonder while reading stories such as this one, when the women have to live by certain rules if they don´t want to be spanked, why don´t the same rules apply to the men and the women then can spank them? I think that would be a curious theme, but well that is only me… So despite the copious spankings in this story which I am not a fan of, the story itself is quite good, the way their lifes evolves around tragic accidents in both of their cases and of course they cannot come clean with each other about what is eating them up. But the always popular HEA is there in full force and all is well that ends well, right? The thing I found the strangest was the way her father suddenly accepts his daughter again after he is asked for her hand in marriage, what does that have to do with anything? I felt this utterly strange and would have needed some more meat around this bone or this part of this chapter. Otherwise a splendid story.

I only made it through about 55% of this book. I found it (& this is applicable only to ME), very, very slow burn, a little too slow for my mood at this time & I didn’t really care for how the Daddy/Little Girl dynamic was initiated & depicted (again this is applicable for ME).
So, why a 5 star review?
Because this is an extremely well written book. It has a smooth & wonderful flow, I found the writing itself to be excellent & evocative. I felt the freezing cold, the rain, saw the farmland, the farmhouse, saw the livestock, the mud & the Taylor’s Hilux. I felt & empathized with Sarah’s anger & frustration with her father’s continuing bitter & unjustified blame directed at her for the death of Jason, his other child & heir, as well as her Mom’s constant attempts to overlook & excuse his destructive verbal attacks on their daughter.
I felt Sarah’s utter physical & mental exhaustion working their huge farm alone, with absolutely no help from her father or the friends his bitter anger drove away. She finds only 1 very aged friend who does help Sarah through the first few months but he is able to do only so much.
And finally, actual assistance does arrive via Nick Martin, a bull rider between seasons hired by Sarah’s mother.
Nick is young, strong, powerful, good looking & kind. He is also low key quiet & is immediately willing & eager to jump into assisting Sarah.
But Sarah, beaten down psychologically by years of disparagement by her father, hearing only his ‘you’re bloody useless’ on a never ending loop expected to turn everything over to Nick & follow his directions. So when Nick asks for her opinions & suggestions, Sarah is caught by surprise & merely parrots her father’s feelings that she’s awful at working the farm, can’t do anything right & Nick needs to be in charge.
Nick does not agree AT ALL with this, he explains to her she’s done a phenomenal job to date, especially by herself, but Sarah clings to her overall uselessness related to the farm, except for breaking the horses. Nick is a patient man but as Sarah continues to denigrate herself, he becomes more & more determined that this beautiful, exhausted, drained & now physically frail woman WILL realize her strength & worth.
But, Nick himself has demons & ghosts he’s fighting & he doesn’t expect to stay long at the farm or be there for Sarah more than a few months.
But Sarah does need help physically & emotionally & Nick so wants to do so . . . .
And this is where I finally bogged down. Nick has never been a ‘Daddy’, Sarah’s never been a ‘Little Girl’ & yet they seem to ‘bumble’ into it. The dynamic itself didn’t bother me, only how they both seemed to ‘magically’ slide into it complete with consequences, punishments & titles. This combined with the very slow burn caused me to stop reading at a little over halfway.
HOWEVER, that being said, I fully expect to go back to this one & finish it to find out what happens between Nick & Sarah as well as the farm.
So, this IS an excellent & well written story & if you love a slow burn descriptive narrative with well developed & engaging characters, I do believe you WILL greatly enjoy this book.

Sarah is called home from university because her father had an accident and is in the hospital. Sarah’s dad is a bitter man who has blamed Sarah for the death of his son Jason. Sarah had all that baggage hanging around her neck and trying to run the farm with her fathers bitter word ringing in her ears. Sarah’s mom finds someone to help with the farm. His name is Nick. This is where the story starts getting really good. Nick has baggage of his own but Sarah and he are starting to get along really well and she ends up being his baby girl and he is her daddy. As the anniversary arrives for Nick he starts acting strange. Sarah doesn’t know what to do. Is everything they started to build together going to fall apart? Will they ever be able to get back the Daddy/baby girl they both loved so much. You need to read this book and find out. This is the first book I’ve read from this author. I laughed and cried with both Nick and Sarah.

Sarah’s father had an accident, and will likely never walk again. She comes home from uni to run the family ranch, but she’ll never do good enough for her father. Nick’s been on the rodeo circuit – a bull rider – biding his time to be able to move to Australia to bigger & better rodeos. Sarah’s mother hires Nick (through an agency) to help Sarah with the ranch. As they become closer and more attracted to each other, his dominant tendencies begin to come out, and he’s determined to break Sarah of her bad habits. They don’t know it at first, but they’ve both lost a sibling, and are convinced that the deaths were their faults. Not a huge fan of the spanking, but it wasn’t a total turn-off. This was a wonderful story of two broken people who help each other escape their demons and move on to a better life together.

Another great story by Kelly Dawson. It had well rounded characters with emotions and thoughts that are relatable to real life. And it was nice to read about familiar faces. The beginning does seem to jump a little but it smooths out to be a great book
I enjoyed this read. The entertaing storyline offered a wealth of emotions as Sarah and Nick deal with their evolving relationship and the heavy baggage from their respective pasts. I thought that they had really good chemistry and their scenes had lots of sizzle. Tension, drama, secrets and twists will have you fully involved and invested in these characters.
YOU’RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME
While this story is written as a stand-alone, it will have cameo appearances of characters found in Daddy Takes the Reins and Daddies Take Control, with brothers, Luke, Cody, and Clay Lewis, and the two women from those stories, Bianca and Jen. The story will revolve around two broken people that are each facing their own demons. It will take time before they each realize that their demons are quite similar, and ones they each take personal blame for. Harsh words spoken from family members torment each of them. Fate will bring Nick Martin, a champion bull rider, and Sarah Taylor, a veterinarian student together after an accident. But both are damaged souls that do not feel they are worthy of love.
The plot will have Sarah Taylor’s father injured in an accident on the farm that will have him in the hospital and paralyzed. Sarah will be expected to drop out of the university that she attends, and move back to the family farm to take care of the animals and needs there. Her father is bitter to her, blaming her for the death of Jason, and he has never forgiven her.
“You’re bloody useless, you can’t run that farm.”
Sarah’s mother is counting on her to step forward and has more faith in her daughter. The farm is large and has been passed down for several generations, and without Sarah working it, they will have to sell. But Sarah isn’t able to do it herself, and her mother will hire a man to assist.
“You blood runs thick in this place. This is your place now, your responsibility.” –Karen
“Nick was her hero. He was her big, strong, handsome cowboy, come to take command.”
The story is the journey of two damaged souls, who each have suffered a serious loss, that of a sibling, and the cruel words of a parent over it. Guilt is eating at each of them as they try to run from life, and the painful memories, yet, together, they must stand up and accept that what happened wasn’t completely their fault, and they must bury the blame with the deceased. It is the beginning of a relationship between Sarah and Nick, one that has dominance and submission, rules and consequences, and a chance to move forward, even if it is just for a little while.
“What was she battling? He resolved to find out. And he made a silent vow that whatever her fight, he would help her overcome it. You’re not doing a very good job of taking care of yourself, are you? You run yourself down, you don’t eat properly, you’re not getting enough sleep, and your first aid leaves a lot to be desired. I think we’re going to need to make some rules.”
The story shares the hardships of running a large farm of sheep, cattle, and horses, along with the dangers of the elements. From heavy rains, flooding, and blizzards, it is often a balance of life and death, and sometimes giving your all isn’t enough. For Sarah, someone who wants to make life better for animals, losing them to a freak storm is overwhelming.
Secrets will nearly destroy both Nick and Sarah. Not being open to each other, holding on to the pain of their past will cause a rift in their relationship. There is one scene in the story where Nick’s anger takes things too far with Sarah and goes beyond control. Before, their D/s relationship had been within bounds, but when he loses control, that will shatter their relationship.
“Things could never go back to how they were; it was better that she just let him go.”
Will they continue to drift apart, only existing as they run the farm, or will Nick realize that Sarah needs him, his rules, his consequences? When will the haunted memories of the past be allowed to be buried and their lives to thrive? The story is a Daddy Dom – little girl story mostly in language, with rules and discipline. There are explicit sex scenes, and even a humiliating spanking of three girls together.
