A single billionaire, a young nanny, and a surprise baby from USA Today bestselling author, Liv Morris. My life was ordered. Smooth and neat like my scotch. I had arranged relationships with a beginning and end. No romantic attachments was my motto. Then I met Maggie. A beautiful, young woman trying to find her place in the gritty world of Manhattan. She deserved more than a jaded man like me, so … than a jaded man like me, so I let her walk away.
But fate stepped in and an ex-lover surprised me with a baby she claimed was mine. Desperate I hired a well-recommended nanny sight unseen. When she knocked at the door of my penthouse, I opened it to find Maggie standing on the other side.
I watched Maggie lovingly care for my child and wanted to learn to be a father to my daughter. But having Maggie so close was dangerous. She was a terrifying ray of sunshine that threatened to thaw my frozen heart.
I needed her for my child.
At least that’s what I told myself.
Until it was too late.

Nothing could be better than a sexy and emotional tale about a broody single dad and the feisty girl who steps in to nanny his unexpected bundle of joy. Liv Morris has created two wonderful characters in Lucas and Maggie. They’re polar opposites in so many ways, but their chemistry is off the charts!
Maggie brings life and a bit of chaos to Lucas’ structured world. His life has been filled with heartache, and her gentle spirit is a balm. It’s such a great storyline, and I loved everything about this couple.
This is a must read for any Liv Morris fan, and a great place to start if you’re new to her work.
What’s that they say about opposites attract? That’s exactly what happens when a cold, controlled (on the outside) billionaire meets a cheerful, attention wandering sweetheart of a young woman. There’s an instant attraction on both their parts, and Maggie’s (Magnolia) all for pursuing it, but she walks away instead. But then circumstances force her back into his life and they go from there.
Where do they go? Well, more of the same. Lucas trying to restrain himself from falling for the free spirited Maggie, and failing miserably. And Maggie reveling in her new relationship even as she tries her best to help Lucas heal from the singular incident in his past that has frozen his emotional maturity and his heart in a case of ice.
I mostly really enjoyed Daddy Issues. Maggie in particular, is a joy to read, with her big heart and cheerful, compassionate nature. Lucas is a bit too surly for my tastes, but considering his past, he has every right to be stunted emotionally. The opposites attract theme certainly worked well here.
“She was a delectable temptation wrapped up in a beautiful young package, and I needed to get the hell away from her.”
The first time Lucas and Maggie meet, it can be said that fate was on a moody day. With a scene that looks like a slapstick movie, Lucas watches a beautiful woman in line to buy a coffee, but the attraction soon disappears when she photographs him. And everything gets worse when she trips, almost falls, he supports her and a shoe goes flying to a hitherto unknown whereabouts. Lucas just wanted to buy a coffee, a single task of his own, on his first day off. But this different, bold, and clearly outsider woman managed to lock him into a conversation. Obviously under false names. And so, Peaches meets Herb. A different afternoon, but one that will leave its mark on both.
Lucas is in fact a billionaire businessman, a bachelor whose affairs are scheduled and paid for, who protects his privacy at all costs, has no good relationship with his father, and is plagued by personal demons.
Maggie is in the big city looking for a job. But her loving, laid-back, sincere nature contrasts with the cold, barren metropolis. The stranger she met in the cafeteria catches her attention, after all she can see behind the mask he shows the world. But she will never see him again, or so she thought.
In answering a phone call and agreeing to a date, Lucas had no idea of the change that would happen in his life. The balance of the night? A note, a baby and a lot of confusion. And with a child in his arms and no idea how to take care of her, a nanny is needed. But when he opens the door, he comes across the cafeteria girl, none other than the best friend of his friend’s girlfriend.
While trying to unravel the mystery surrounding the baby while dealing with personal and professional problems, resisting the temptation Maggie arouses will be harder than he imagined.
With a good guy full of conflict, fighting guilt over a past mistake, at times he is arrogant and cold, but as the reading develops the reader can see that everything is a facade and self-imposed penance. A well written and developed character.
Maggie is irreverent, unfiltered, fearless, strong, the perfect contrast to Lucas’s gray world. Baby Esmé is cute and a great addition to the narrative. The plot presents a bit of drama and tension, but nothing that weighs the narrative. Personal conflicts are part of the narrative, present in Lucas’s actions and attitudes throughout his life. A good read, with an interesting story, a perfect couple for each other, and attention-grabbing secondary characters.
Single dad books aren’t my usual cup of tea, but I must say the twist Liv Morris did with this story made me love it. Lucas a billionaire used to control everything finds himself meeting Maggie at a coffee shop, and the chemistry makes sparks fly, but two weeks later his life takes a turn and is turned upside down and now he is a dad. He looks and finds a nanny to help with his new situation and life has a weird way to turn things and Maggie shows up for the job. The story has more depth all the emotional issues they both face, how their journey for a HEA is not easy but one worth fighting for.
I loved the banter in this book so much, the characters were so funny and heartfelt. I really loved them from the beginning. And who doesn’t love to see an arrogant man with a baby, even if he has no clue what he’s doing.
The plot line was really good and I enjoyed seeing the two main characters grow closer with each other and baby Esme. (Nod to Twilight!)
Lucas is a no-nonsense kind of guy. His life is ordered and runs smoothly. He was firmly in the no relationship camp, until he met Maggie. Maggie is trying to find herself in the big city of Manhattan, failed interview after failed interview, she is trying to figure things out. When she runs into Lucas Shaw she can’t help but be intrigued by him. However Lucas knows he can never be what Maggie deserves and he lets her walk away. When Lucas gets the surprise of a life-time, he turns to his friend to help him out, and his friend recommends a great nanny that Lucas has never met, or so he thought. When he opens the door there stands Maggie, Lucas has a strict rule that he doesn’t fraternize with employees, but Maggie makes it hard to stay away. Will Maggie be able to break down Lucas’ self-imposed walls, or will Lucas remain alone forever?
Liv Morris is a new to me author, and I’m a sucker for single dad books. As a whole this was a good book. I thoroughly enjoyed the banter between Maggie and Lucas and the way she didn’t put up with his crap. She may have been a single girl struggling in Manhattan but she was still a strong character. Lucas was super closed off at the beginning of the book and I really did like watching him open up. However I felt like the beginning of the book was so thought out and well written, granted there is a lot of internal monologue that happens, but I felt like the end was rushed. I wanted more of a buildup between Lucas and Maggie while she was taking care of Esme. I wasn’t disappointed by any means, but did feel like I wanted just a little bit more. All in all this was a quick read and full of surprises!
Very steamy, sexy and even sweet at times! I love a good single parents book and this one didn’t disappoint!
I have to say, this story was very much worth the wait. I love the concept and the way things played out in this story. The magnetic pull between Maggie and Lucas is sizzling. From their first meeting where it was a passionate encounter of wits to the surprise of her showing up when she was the one recommended to be a nanny to his shock of a bundle of joy. There are a lot of ups and downs between these two which to me, made the story more engaging. Lucas fighting feelings to Maggie fall when she knew she shouldn’t.
Overall, I adored this story and honestly devoured it in one sitting. I enjoyed the flow and watching Lucas open up to why he was the way he was. How Maggie brought out the emotions in him. It was a fun read and I highly recommend it!
Maggie is the tenacious, sexy southern spit-fire that will charm the pants of billionaire Lucas Shaw. Their first meeting was flirty with a mutual sexual attraction/chemistry. Lucas just discovered he was a father (from a previous encounter a while back with another woman) literally soon after meeting Maggie. During their next encounter, Maggie could not believe Lucas was the same man she met previously. Lucas was obnoxious & rude and thought Maggie was not qualified to be a nanny. The sparks fly and tension arise but this was a highly charged/sexual chemistry brewing between the characters. Liv Morris brings out the angst, chemistry, lust, tension and love out of these characters. This another amazing book by this author! Definitely a must read!!!
Billionaire businessman Lucas Shaw lives his life down to the letter, and he never strays from his schedule, he’s all business, all the time. Everything in his life is planned, even his time with the ladies… and he has an assistant who ensures that nothing is to ever go array.
But then he meets a woman by chance that inspires him to re-examine the way he is living his life, she encourages him to stray from the buttoned up lifestyle he has been living and do something out of character and fun… like watch Netflix and chill. Maggie is a true breath of fresh air, she makes him smile, but she is also all wrong for him. She deserves someone who can give her the moon and stars… and he is definitely not that man!
Daddy Issues is a delightful single parent story that will tug on the heartstrings and curl the toes! This unlikely couple is brought together when a unexpected child is dropped into Lucas’s lap, and he doesn’t have the foggiest idea what to do. So he goes in search of a nanny and Maggie waltzes back into this life, and teaches him everything he needs to know about being a parent… as well as a few other things too. I loved watching these two tip-toe around one another and their feelings, and try to keep things professional…they had anticipation at an all time high. This was a fun first time read, the words were cleverly penned and the characters kept me entertained from the first page until the last. Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
Lucas and Maggie met when they bumped into each other at a coffee shop. He was mesmerized by her beauty and she by the hot guy in the suit. They spoke for a bit but no names were exchanged. Fast forward couple days/weeks later when Lucas world is turned upside down with a baby dropped off to him. Enter Maggie as the nanny. He was surprised to see her but tried very hard to stay away from her. Maggie was feisty and no doormat. She told him how it is and made it clear to him how she felt. He was a bachelor but gave it all up for her when he couldn’t keep his hands off her any longer. She helped with a childhood experience that was holding him back from living and it was beautiful to see their growth.
This was an amazing and beautiful love story. This book was extremely entertaining, captivating, interesting, and humorous at times. I could not put it down. This story is about Lucas Shaw and Magnolia (Maggie) Talbot. New York’s most eligible billionaire bachelor (Lucas Shaw) is about to get some news that will change his world! Lucas is so swoon-worthy, tall, and handsome, but he did not do romantic relationships so to keep it simple, he arranged relationships with escorts for a couple months—then moved on to another. One problem he has, Lucas does not like dealing with the fallout from old family secrets. But as much as Lucas wants to avoid drama with his father, he maintains his silence because of his mother.
Maggie is a free spirited person who majored in psychology from an Alabama college. Maggie wanted to understand human reactions to certain situations. When Maggie met Lucas in the lobby of his building after leaving an interview, he caught her before she fell to the floor—and she literally mesmerized him by her beauty. Lucas finds that he like the feisty, sassy, and obstinate beautiful woman, but he is afraid to open up because of his dark secrets. Everything known to be true is questioned. The past is once again unearthed and this time, secrets lurk between dreams and reality—between the past and the present. Find out if Maggie will unearth Lucas’ past and secrets. Opposites don’t always attract—or does it! Destiny seems to have brought them together or serendipity—and their story is one you will want to read about! The chemistry between Lucas and Maggie was swift, hot, and palpable. Maggie would do anything for Lucas, but is finding her Prince Charming worth the price of losing herself? This is the first time I read a book by Liv Morris, but I assure you, it will not be the last. Liv Morris you did it! You delivered an addictive, intriguing love story. This story is fervent, with a dash of dreams coming true. The storyline is fluid, and the characters are extremely well developed. You won’t regret reading Daddy Issues: A Single Dad Romance!
Daddy Issues is a charming second chance, single dad romance! With minimal angst and plenty of romance, this story is a great tale of self discovery and learning to love again.
I ADORED this book! Liv Morris made me swoon and sigh, as she also delivered the quiver.
Lucas is one of those guys who doesn’t believe in happily-ever-afters because he hasn’t seen one, for one thing, and he also doesn’t think he deserves one. He’s so closed off that when he meets Maggie in a coffee shop, his immediate connection upends him. He wants her, but he’s convinced he shouldn’t have her.
The good news is that Maggie SEES him. She recognizes his vulnerabilities, and she believes in him. The problem, as Liv Morris shows so well, is getting him to believe in himself.
There is a third party to this romance who is an utter delight. Watching Lucas get to know this person is even more glorious than watching him get to know Maggie. He goes from “I absolutely cannot” to “I don’t know about this” to “Maybe?” to “Mine.” I loved it.
Liv Morris makes you wait for the sexy times, but BOY OH BOY does she also make it worth it. Lucas … well … he’s delicious. I love him. I want more of him in that way where I just want to imagine him in various–ahem–situations, but I don’t want to see him suffer any inevitable crises that come from a sequel.
I’m new to Liv Morris’s books, and I feel the need to go read her backlist. If Lucas is any indication, I’m missing out on some Hot Heroes.
Daddy Issue is a fun, heavenly sweet love story!
One, where you want to believe in fate and the crazy instances that bring you to where you need to be in life. Which Liv executed brilliantly with a sense of humor and wit.
4.5 of 5 Hearts
Liv Morris did it again with Daddy Issues!
This book is fun, fast-paced, and will keep you flipping the pages. You need to one-click and get to reading!
I am a sucker for a smart-mouthed woman who knows what she wants and a sexy as sin man who needs a little life breathed back into him!
When we start this book Lucas Shaw has everything in order. He is a robot who did not know how to live. That is until the magnetic Maggie Talbot crashes into him in the best way.
When they met by chance at a coffee shop under the name Herb and Peaches, I died laughing. The names fit them perfectly. I loved whenever the other needed a little calling out the Herb and Peaches would enter the conversation.
Lucas was older and did not do anything out of his normal. Even his assistant JJ knew exactly what the bossy man wanted before he barked. Then this adorable baby is dropped off and Lucas is in a tailspin and she comes this full of life woman who he never thought he sees again.
Maggie is the ray of hope that many need to see in the dark. She showed Lucas that life was worth living that the amazing little girl that was brought into his life was the best gift ever. (Bonus her name is Esme! One of my fav names ever!!)
Daddy Issue by Liv Morris is the story of Lucas and Maggie.
Lucas is this rich, sexy yet closed off billionaire. Maggie is a sweet, beautiful young woman who is trying to make it big in NYC.
Lucas is a broken soul and how he goes about getting his temporary piece isn’t my cup of tea. His life gets turned upside down when he finds out that he is a father. The baby mama left the baby literally behind…that’s when Maggie and Lucas are brought together (again). She’s a nanny while trying to get her foot in the door in the actual job she wants. So her friends recommend her as a nanny and this story comes brilliantly together. Love the message..the chemistry between Lucas and Maggie… the plot is great and the story is sweet and funny. Enjoyed the cast of secondary characters plus the heat generated by Maggie & Lucas, makes for a fantastic read!! Great Ending!
My Rating: 4.5 stars *******
This book is why I love reading romance books. It has everything I’m looking for: a yummy hero, a witty heroine and a beautiful love story. I need to pick up Tessa and Barclay’s book.
Lucas is punishing himself for his past. He has decided he is not worthy of love. When he meets Maggie after a botched interview he is entranced by her fresh outlook of life. When fate puts them in each other’s path it is inevitable that they would act on their attractions.
Lucas is such a heartbreaking hero. You just want him to win though. Maggie is an adorable ingenue. The story is a great slow burn romance. I loved how Lucas slowly opened up to Maggie. She brought out the best in him. Wonderfully written and super enjoyable.
Daddy Issues was a good, surprise baby story. I liked Maggie, she was sassy and sweet. But she could stand up for herself. As for as Lucas I had to warm up to him, he came across as a a$$hole at first. The more I read my opinion changed and I started to like him. From the moment they met you could feel the smoking connection they had for eachother. I can’t forget the way J.J. took to little Esme, it was so cute. I liked seeing Tessa and Barclay from Bossy Nights too. Enjoyable read.
