Book 2 in the Men of Steel seriesMeet Cyrus, the oldest of the Steel brothers. He’s strong, independent, and damaged. But don’t feel sorry for him, Cyrus likes his life just the way it is. No rules, no commitments, and no more than 3 times with the same woman. Until Tara. A child of the foster care system who can’t remember ever being loved or feeling safe, Tara brings out the protective alpha … the protective alpha male in Cyrus. And as much as he hates to admit it, something else. Something he wishes he didn’t feel. Something that could weaken his resolve.
As they spend more time together, Cyrus’s three-times-only-with-no-strings rule disintegrates. But Cyrus hates being vulnerable. He hates feeling weak. And so he does what any red-blooded man afraid of commitment does, he lets Tara slip through his fingers, rather than let her all the way in.
But with him, Tara is a fighter, and she’s not about to give up.

Cyrus was the second book in the Men of Steel series by MJ Fields. The series needs to be read in order.
Cyrus was the oldest Steel sibling. We learned quickly that Cyrus had a three hook up rule – three times and that was it. Like his brothers, he was a total man whore and stayed away from commitment. We also learned he was a former Navy Seal and something in his past occurred that he vowed never to repeat.
We met Tara previously as a customer of Forever Steel. We knew she was in over her head but it wasn’t until Cyrus that we experienced her full story.
Unlike the previous book, the storyline covered only a few weeks and began exactly where the previous book ended. It was heartbreaking at times but also filled with hope. And true to form, the Steel family was front and center demonstrating both the fun bantering and the loyalty bond, as the foundation for the series.
I have always attempted to give ‘star’ ratings on my completed reads, just as a tracking method for my titles that I have completed. I have unlimited packages for audio, kindle, and utilize the local/state library.
However, I do not check the ‘I recommend this book’ unless I am willing to reread a book and or a series.
[I read about 5-15 books a month through kindle, and I listen to about 15-30 books monthly]
I have a full life as a nurse, professor, wife, daughter [daughter in law], sister, and mother. I love to read and love a thousand other lives by turning the pages in countless books.
Thank you for the opportunity to provide a review. Happy reading 🙂
I will by Cyrus’ Birdie any day anywhere anytime!!!!
I have a funny feeling I am going to be saying this a lot while reading this series but, here goes anyway; This is my favorite book and couple of the series!!!! I wish I could give this story 10 stars!
Cyrus totally and completely owns my heart! His character did a complete and total transformation right before my eyes and it was amazing and I absolutely loved every freaking minute of it! His loyalty and devotion to Tara is off the charts hott! The way he cares for her and slowly realizes he is in love with her is epic.
Tara was an incredible person! Her strength spoke to me on so many levels. As naïve as she was she got how this crazy world works too which is a fantastic feat in upon itself. One minute she was ripping my heart out and the next she put it back together so beautifully. With all that happened to her, most would have given up long before she ever considered it. But not this little birdie, nope not her, she hung in there and in the end she got the prize! I just loved her to pieces.
This was just such a great read. It brought out all my emotions from laughing one minute to wanting to cry the next to swooning and being so angry. I just couldn’t get enough of these two!
