This is a fast paced well written story. There are places in the story that will make you laugh or grin. Pia’s character is somewhat ditsy. She is sometimes insensitive and says some really stupid things. Brock is a Cyborg who is stranded with the brat Penelope (Pia). They had a very sizzling attraction between these two. Brock is worried that once Pia finds out he is part Cyborg that she won’t want him. Find out how they work through their differences and get their HEA. This is such a great read and a great start to the series Men of Mettle. I loved reading this book the plot, story line and characters were off the charts. I found this book amazing and loved Penelope and Brock. Penelope on a diplomatic peace mission is assigned a body guard that poses as her husband and It’s Brock. They have a past history where she falsely accused him of inappropriate behavior as a rebellious teenager when she had a crush on him. She tries to ditch him and her attraction to him. He had moved on to another agency and almost lost his life and became a cyborg. He now is a secrete agent with Cyber Operations and balks and babysitting as a fake husband. But a terrorist bombing and a crash landing on a hostile planet have him realizing his attraction to her and how they must work together. It’s a fun creative story with lovable characters and a steamy romance.

Brock and PIA are intriguing, as well as, interesting characters. In addition, the secondary characters are amazing. The storyline is dynamic with many different
This is a fun entertaining read that is heartwarming, short and steamy.
I always like story that is told from both main characters point of view, that way you can see the actions/circumstances/situation because it tends to give the story a more realistic view.

Outstanding! Political intrigue, danger, assassination attempts, long-time crushes, and attraction out of control – what else could you possibly ask for in a story! All of this and more is set against a background of lively characters, vivid imagery, and gorgeous sci-fi locations. Pia and Brock have a complicated history, one more complex than it initially appears. But Brock is no longer completely human, and Pia is finally not a rebellious teenager anymore. Their attraction is instant, red-hot, consuming, and a complication neither saw coming. I loved the humility Pia showed, along with her emotional growth. And hearing Brock’s fears makes your heart ache for him. You are rooting for this couple to survive their dangerous mission, and reach their own HEA. This is a book that grabs you and won’t let go until the end. Cannot wait to see what comes next for the Cyborgs!

Adventure and excitement
Cara Bristol brings to life a world that is so much like our current one (the mayhem and procedures at the spaceport sounds just like today’s airport processes), yet the technology, the aliens, the planets that she creates are absolutely out of this world. Penelope and Brock’s “second” chance romance has so many sparks, they light up the night sky. Ten out of ten, would recommend.
Why did I not know about this series? I am shocked. I really liked this. The character development of Pia and Brock as well as the chemistry between them was great. I liked the worldbuilding as well as the overall plot of the story. There is a good amount of adventure and danger mixed into their diplomatic mission as well as the history that they have that make their circumstances fraught with emotions guilt and shame o her part and anger on his. A great read, I’m already reading the next book in the series.

This book is entertaining and filled with adventure and intrigue. The interaction and chemistry between the characters of Pia and Brock is wonderful. I can’t wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
Good reading!
I liked this cyborg(Brock)/human(Pia) romance. With their history, the likelihood of a relationship should have been nil; instead, its a five-alarm-chili-hot fling turned true-love and HEA. I liked the action, the sense of danger, and the exotic (and lethal) planetary setting. It kinda has the Ian Fleming vibe, but 007 ain’t got NUTHIN on Brock Mann!

I love this author and this genre. I volunteered to read an advance copy for an honest review.
I m a huge fan of sci-fi romance and if there are Cyborgs, I’m on it and this book did not disappoint.
I enjoyed Cyborg Protector and have been reading Cara Bristol for a minute now and I’ll absolutely continue to follow her.
Pia and Brock were great together with fantastic chemistry. Both are strong likable characters and I enjoyed reading their story. I was definitely invested and was routing for them.
Recommend!

MY FIRST CYBORG LOVER
CYBORG PROTECTOR is the first book in the Men of Mettle series. This is a rerelease and rebranding of the Cy-Ops series. Though each book will stand on its own, it is better if you read them all and in the order of release.
Though this is the first in the series, I felt like I was missing some basic knowledge of the universe into which I had landed. Every day items were not explained, such as the PerComm (personal communication device) that after several chapters I figured out was their version of a tablet that was their phone, but also held their calendar, files, etc. Is this a spin-off of another series?
That set aside, it was only a mild annoyance after all, I loved the story of Pia (Oh, her name is actually Penelope? Yeah I’m not going to remember that. LOL) and Brock. Brock knew her when she was an immature, impulsive, naïve, bratty, teenager. Age hasn’t improved her nature, though she has adjusted her attitudes; she has learned empathy. That just means she knows to say, “sorry” after her impulsivity has landed her hot water again. For Brock, the intervening years, have changed his whole life. Seeing Penelope as a desirable woman just isn’t something he believes he’s allowed to dream about for himself.
That’s the set up: unrequited teenage crush vs a man who doesn’t believe he’s worthy. It was perfectly explained. Nothing was rushed. I felt like I was able to truly grow to know these characters and love both of them before they fell for one another.
Creative story, lovable characters, “hateable” villains, steamy sex scenes, frightening fights, and quick banter all combines to make this a great romance in an exotic background.
I don’t normally read Sci-Fi Romance; this book may change that stand for me. Not since Princess Leia and Han Solo have I wanted to hear lasers blasting and the Cantina Band. So, yeah! Thank you, Cara Bristol for bringing me into the world of Sci-Fi Romance. I look forward to reading more from you.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC via Booksprout, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Enjoyed getting to know this world and all the great characters! I just started the 2nd one…
This was a pretty decent read. There was action and a solid plot. I liked Brock, but Pia was leaning towards ‘ridiculous heroine’ with her careless decisions.
I absolutely loved it and i would definitely recommend it.
