Cutter Thompson
Hurricane Tatum, a category five storm hell-bent on making landfall along the Alabama coast, is my opportunity, to show my friends and family the kind of man I’ve become.
The kid who lost his scholarship and the love is life is ready for a change. A change I’m equal parts scared will and won’t come.
An EMT wasn’t my first choice of careers, but it’s become my calling. When the winds die down, the skies clear, and the rain stops, we’re left with devastation the likes of which I’ve never seen.
What I come to realize is ugly destruction can be beautiful, if we can only figure out what perspective to see it.
Rowan Baker
The LSERT is a godsend, especially as us local first responders emerge from our shelters to see our town and homes destroyed. It’s going to take time to rebuild.
Rebuilding is what I’m used to. After I watched my four-year-old daughter die in my arms I’ve done nothing but try to find a reason to live.
But I’ve got baggage. Memories, an ex-husband, and a fear I won’t be able to save everyone.
When I meet Cutter Thompson, he reminds me rebuilding can mean letting go of fear and allowing myself to live the life I’ve wanted all along.

Love Cutter and Rowan’s story. Set in a state that loves their college football teams and are frequent to hurricanes.
Cutter goes down to help with search and rescue after the storm.
Rowan a native of of the small gulf coast town.
Cutter and Rowan work well as a team.
Laramie has out done it with Cutter. She makes you feel like you were part of the story.
Cutter is amazing like all of Laramie’s books. Cutter volunteers to go and help an area hit by a hurricane and he is not expecting to find another EMT that he will fall for. Rowan has been through devastation and hurt in her short life and she is ready to start living for herself now. Will Cutter and Rowan be able to overcome their past? Make sure you one click because Laramie keeps you hooked from the first page.
Every time I pick up a new book by her, I am in awe of Briscoe’s ability to suck me into the story right from the start. I fell in love with Cutter and Rowan from the beginning and couldn’t get enough of them. Both of them trying to heal from their pasts, I couldn’t help but root for them to find their happy.
This one will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride that will have you in all your feels. I loved every second of this one and I can’t wait to see what comes next for the LSERT!
Will his family ever see him as more than the kid that lost his scholarship?
Cutter is hiding a lot of emotions and he is trying to find his way through this life.
Cutter Thompson has a past that he can’t seem to outrun but is it only from himself or his loved ones too. Do they still see him as a screw up? When the LSERT is looking for volunteers to go help with the hurricane that is threatening the southern states, Cutter decides to go. He has nothing stopping him from leaving so he may as well go help out where he can. The only thing is that Cutter is not prepared for this trip at all. Not what he will see or how his life will change after this help and rescue mission.
Rowan Baker is just surviving, she’s not living her life. After a devastating tragedy four years ago, she seems to be stuck in her life. When she meets Cutter during the hurricane, her life seems to be brighter. It’s too bad that he lives in Laurel Hill and she lives in Paradise Lost. Their chemistry has them both feeling like life is good and that they can overcome their pasts and find a way to move on.
I really enjoyed this story. It was tragic, scary, and a beautiful story of two people finding a way to move on from their pasts and find their HEA. The characters in Ms. Briscoe’s LSERT series are always great to read and Cutter’s story did not disappoint. They are loyal to each other, kind, and are always willing to do what is needed to make sure that their families are safe and taken care of. These characters are not all family by blood, but they are also family by choice, and it makes for a great tight knit community in Laurel Hills. They keep their community safe and they are always willing to help outside of their own community as well. The devastation and danger that Cutter see’s while in Paradise Lost helps him find his true self and the strength that is hidden deep within himself, as does Rowan. She feels that she is broken and damaged, but she is actually a strong woman who has been dealt a huge blow, but Cutter will show her the path to happiness. He’s so gentle and patient with her, but he is also a force to be reckoned with when needed. I loved this story and give it a 5-star review. I look forward to more of the LSERT family.
Cutter has a sad past with much going on in his life. He is an EMT and that is how he meets Rowan. Rowan is also an EMT that has had a heartbreaking past. The two have an instant attraction and connection due to their troubles. I thought this was a beautiful story about life, love and moving from the past to a better future.
Cutter is Ransom’s younger brother and an EMT in Laurel Springs. He is also a member of the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team. Rowan is an EMT in the small town of Paradise Lost. When a hurricane years through her town, the LSERT is there to help. He meets Rowan on their first day of responding to a collapsed building and the sparks between the two begin to fly.
Laramie Briscoe wrote a highly emotional book where both Cutter and Rowan have secrets that they are keeping from each other. Once those secrets are revealed, you understand more about why the characters are the way they are.
This is another great book in the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team and I can’t wait for more.
I don’t know how Laramie does it! She keeps writing all these hot alpha guys but they have the biggest hearts. Cutter’s dad really taught me well! When Cutter’s paramedic job and being a part of LSERT takes him to a hurricane war zone in lower Alabama, never in a million years did he think he would meet someone there. Rowan is also a paramedic and been thru some major life altering events. She’s closed out to everyone but then she meets Cutter! As usual with Laramie, the books are well written, thought out and the characters make you instantly fall in love with them. Another must read!
Is there anything better than picking up a Laramie Briscoe book? No. No there is not. I look forward to every single one of her releases and it never fails that I squeal like a kid every time one shows up on my kindle. Cutter is exactly why I love her books so much. It’s emotional, heartfelt, sweet, sexy and so freaking swoony.
Cutter is such an amazing man. A bit lost, and even a little insecure he was absolutely endearing. He has a heart of gold and it shines brightly even when he doesn’t realize that himself. Rowan was much like Cutter in feeling a bit lost. With quite a tragic past she’s one of the strongest characters ever, but just like Cutter she still has some hills to climb. I love they these two climbed those hills together. The way they not only grow but thrive as they fall in love was a thing of beauty!
Great story!
Cutter and Rowan are perfect for each other. Both have dealt with stuff in there past and are stronger because of it. They have both grown to be mature and caring people.
These two meet while Cutter (Who is an EMT) is helping out a nearby town after a hurricane has hit and destroyed much of the area. Rowan is an EMT in that town. These two meet and form an instant bond – Becoming friends and then more. Quickly. So maybe insta-love??? How will they make there relationship work once Cutter goes home?
Don’t fret, this one does have an HEA. Now I want to read Sullivan’s story. I sure hope he gets one. 🙂
Absolutely loved Cutter and Rowan. Both were well grounded characters that had issues in their past but owned them. They were honest with each other when they felt the timing was right about their personal demons. My only wish for their story was that it was longer! Wonderful read!
Every time I come to the end of a Laramie Briscoe title, I’m faced with a couple of conundrums: how fast can I get my hands on the next book in the series? And, how the heck do I describe this book in a way that’s more meaningful than “oh my god, I loved this book so much!”? My challenge feels even more extreme when it’s a Laurel Springs book I’ve just finished. There’s something about these characters that are so real. They’re down to earth and complex in ways that make them come alive from the page. It feels like the issues they’re dealing with could be mine and I want to belong to their families, drama and all. I found Cutter and Rowan’s stories to be all about coming to terms with the things that make us the people we are today; the good, the bad, and everything in between. I loved watching these two open up and get vulnerable with one another. Particularly since it gave them the courage to do the same with their families. The way their story ends is just so sweet, and now I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author through Give Me Books Promotions.
In my opinion the LSERT stories just keep getting better and better and Cutter is out to prove he is not the screwup his family has come to know. He believes that is how everyone sees him because of one mistake in college. He is on a mission to prove them wrong. Rowan has faced hardship, now she just lives day today just trying to get over the pain. These two are so sweet together and pull each other out of their funk. But will they work long term? Can each of them let go of the past?
Cutter (LSERT #4) is Laramie Briscoe’s newest release in her series about her fictional response team. This time it transports our hero, Cutter Thompson from his hometown of Laurel Springs to a hurricane site that needs help. Here he meets Rowan Baker, fellow EMT with a hole in her heart left behind by the family she lost.
I was certainly looking forward to seeing the gang of LS again but with a change of scenery, we encountered a different side to her writing. I liked that they met under different circumstances than usual and it gave the story a completely different feel, from the rest of the series.
Though this time around I don’t connect as much with the story. Unfortunately this feels very much repetitive from some of her other storylines. I expected something more from the background setting of a hurricane, and maybe something a little deeper. I felt like she skipped the whole slow buildup of the relationship between the two main characters. I had hoped we would have seen a slow start, friendship and then the relationship. There was even a few times where I wondered if I was missing a few chapters because it was so quick.
All that being said, I absolutely loved Rowan. This woman is so strong. Having to rebuild her life, suffering the loss she did, a kickass career helping people and still having the faith to jump off into the deep end of the pool with Cutter. She’s awesome. Now Cutter, the younger son of Havoc and Leigh. Ransom’s baby brother. The one I didn’t know much about and yet have played a part in every story up to this, he took me by surprise. He is such a contradiction. A badass with a heart of gold, sprinkled with a little bit of confidence issues based on past experiences. To me, the revelations of his character, was really what make the book. I hadn’t expected him to have this level of depth.
I have been an avid reader of Ms Briscoe’s since she released her first book and I still very much enjoy her writing style, and I did enjoy Cutter, I just expected more. Which is why Cutter gets 3.5 stars from me.
What an amazing story!!! Cutter’s story has been a story that I have been waiting for and let me tell you it was so worth the wait!!! He is part of the LSERT that goes to help a town ravaged by a hurricane. It’s there where he meets Rowan an EMT in the town. He knows that there is something special about Rowan that sparks feelings that he hasn’t felt in a long while. Rowan feels the same about Cutter. She has been through so much with the loss of her child. Never did she count on meeting someone who makes her feel happy again like Cutter does. This story was absolute perfection. The chemistry was undeniable and hot. What they both have been through has changed them but doesn’t define them. I was hooked from beginning to end and didn’t want to see it end. I loved this story so much and I highly recommend that everyone reads it, it’s that good! I can’t wait for more books by this talented author…well done!!!!
I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really love the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team Series and this is Cutter’s story. He is the younger brother of Ransom, and all we know is that he played football on a scholarship but blew that opportunity. In this book we really get to hear his side of things and what really happened.
I have loved all the books in the series, most of them have some big drama but its not at the center of the story. This book has much more of a serious tone and it centers on that part of the story for a lot of the story.
Cutter and Tucker take an assignment out of town in Paradise Lost to help out with Hurricane Tatum. And the story centers on the recovery from the hurricane which at times was very sad and very dramatic. Cutter meets a fellow paramedic, Rowan and they fall for each other but what happens when he has to go back home?
This was a very emotional story. Both Cutter and Rowan have painful pasts, Rowan especially and I loved watching them fall for each other and figure out how to make things work and be there for each other.
This was a very different story in this series but the author did an amazing job turning this into a very original storyline.
I do want to warn readers who might be sensitive to the subject that loss of a child is a topic in this story. If that is something you are sensitive to, I just wanted to warn you that it is something discussed in this story.
Get the Kleenex handy because “Cutter” by Laramie Briscoe is really the emotional, powerful, sizzling, amazing, intense romance reads. It’s so beautiful and sizzling that it will leave the reader breathless from the chemistry, heat, angst, heartbreak, passion, romance and love that bounds forth. Cutter and Rowan each have their own set of issues. They are two lost souls who connect and are meant to be together but they need to find their way out of the dark..This story is touching and well-written; Ms. Briscoe did an amazing job of getting the plot out, explaining the challenges faced by the characters and describing the scenery throughout the book. Loved the feels that this story gives . I can’t wait for book 5.
My Rating: 4.5 stars ********
This was such a beautiful story that also had enough past tragedy that will make your heart hurt. Rowan and Cutters past has molded them into the people they are now every painful inch. When hurricane Tatum brings these two together they know the spark the feel can’t dissipate with the inner fear they have. Absolutely perfect story
I feel like I have gone through a journey with Laramie Briscoe reading her stories. LSERT series just makes me giddy and so so happy. I loved this generation and ones before. I feel like I grew with these characters.
Cutter is my new main man. Rowen is small but boy she is mighty! These two were instantly attracted to each other. My heart cried for Rowen and Cutter with their past. Then the storm hits. The way Laramie explains the heartache that first responders see first hand. The scary truth.
There was a little bit of drama that comes with the story. But when the truth was set free you could finally breathe. This story was beautifully written and I loved everything with each word read! I am excited to see what is next!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

Oh you guys. Your going to fall in love with Cutter. I can tell you that in the beginning your going to meet Cutter. A man who has been through some things that make him feel like life was worthless until he becomes an EMT. Now he is trying to prove to himself and his family he was so much better now. Rowan has a tragic past that is going to break your heart, but has left her feeling like she is a shell of her former self. These are two people who live with a lot of grief and tragedy and they shouldn’t be good for each other but they so are. I loved reading this book and discovering the things there are to know about each other. I love that these book are set with a lot of characters that you know and love in a town you have become familiar with. I loved this book and you guys shouldn’t miss it.
Cutter and Rowan!
I truly enjoyed reading this book and following this love story. You have two people who are living after major life upsets and trying to figure out where you go next. Rowan suffered a major loss and has gotten comfortable after the fact just trying to move from day to day but is feeling restless in her life.
Cutter has made something of himself after a major career setback and is just trying to prove to his family and himself that he is more than his mistakes.
Their love story is incredibly sweet and organic. I loved their chemistry and how they seemed to heal and complete each other. The jagged piece of themselves that were shaped through loss and tragedy seem to fit perfectly with one another. This is such a must read!
