Cutter Thompson
Hurricane Tatum, a category five storm hell-bent on making landfall along the Alabama coast, is my opportunity, to show my friends and family the kind of man I’ve become.
The kid who lost his scholarship and the love is life is ready for a change. A change I’m equal parts scared will and won’t come.
An EMT wasn’t my first choice of careers, but it’s become my calling. When the winds die down, the skies clear, and the rain stops, we’re left with devastation the likes of which I’ve never seen.
What I come to realize is ugly destruction can be beautiful, if we can only figure out what perspective to see it.
Rowan Baker
The LSERT is a godsend, especially as us local first responders emerge from our shelters to see our town and homes destroyed. It’s going to take time to rebuild.
Rebuilding is what I’m used to. After I watched my four-year-old daughter die in my arms I’ve done nothing but try to find a reason to live.
But I’ve got baggage. Memories, an ex-husband, and a fear I won’t be able to save everyone.
When I meet Cutter Thompson, he reminds me rebuilding can mean letting go of fear and allowing myself to live the life I’ve wanted all along.

Two wounded spirits made whole again…
My father’s stellar advice listen, be smart, and not to forget my mom who will be nervous and worried especially if she doesn’t hear from me.
For now we’ve been stashed in a local hotel to wait until were needed; so with not much else to do but watch t.v and hope and pray we escape the weatherman curse.
Cutter couldn’t help but compare their situation to a particular movie where they were waiting for a massive army to finally attack.
Instead he and his friend were watching as huge behemoth was continuing towards them getting ready to strike.
To bad Cutter was still wearing a glorified albatross around his neck while dragging his past mistakes around trying to climb over a mountain of mole hills he keeps creating.
Rowan knew it would be bad but her first glimpse at the destruction around them was so much worse then anyone could ever even begin to imagine.
Unfortunately the storm wasn’t done; so
they still had to wait even though you know there’s people suffering all around you.
But there isn’t anything you can do; at least not until we’ve been activated.
Now we were finally being allowed to venture outside to begin searching for any survivors but on the flip side there was the recovery of those unfortunate ones who didn’t make it.
She and Cutter had worked relentlessly helping anyone and everyone they could until neither one of them had the energy to move.
Yeah I know I really shouldn’t have put my poor partner in such a predicament but honestly who else could I ask?
Her brothers; no just no.
Today was harder then anything Cutter could have imagine and yeah he wasn’t sure how he was going to keep himself together because he was falling apart.
But he also knew tomorrow just might not be any better.
Now Cutter’s not a dumb man and given any opportunity to get to know a pretty lady or hanging around Tucker and his four legged companion?
Okay so Rowan preferred the wrong colors I’m not gonna hold that against her after all I’m a big boy I know which one’s the better of the two teams.
The last thing I wanted to do is intrude on someone else’s private time with their girl so instead I left Tucker in peace.
I had been surprised when Cutter showed back up on my doorstep but I’m really glad he did.
All I can say it most have been the influence of the beautiful moon for me to be acting so carefree for the first time in forever.
Even though he knew his time in her little slice of heaven was coming to an end that didn’t mean he didn’t want to stop seeing her in fact he still wanted to keep getting to know her.
Finally Cutter knew if he wanted any future with someone as wonderful as Rowan he really needed to be the one to tell her about his past.
I couldn’t wait to see Cutter I can’t believe how much I really miss him and now he’s on his way back.
The last person I really wanted to see; let alone listen to is my miserable excuse for a human being ex-husband who clearly lost his little mind.
However I know as much as I love my home town there’s to much history here I’m finally ready to move on.
Both Cutter and Rowan are hurting due to different losses. Both are determined to heal and prove their worth by serving their community as EMT’S. Their paths will cross and in the midst of a natural disaster they find each other and a HEA. So happy to immerse myself in the LSERT family and catch up with the rest of the wonderful characters of books past.

Amidst the aftermath of Hurricane Tate, Cutter and Rowan manage to find one another. Two people with painful pasts have to learn that sometimes it takes the right person to help you move on from loss. I absolutely loved this story and the journeys these characters went on, not only together, but as individuals as well. I enjoyed the build of the relationship between these two. The compassion and trust between them was beautiful. With some laughs, some tears, and a bit of swooning, I couldn’t put this down.
Briscoe’s MTF and LSERT series always bring with them such a strong feeling of family. This group of people, whether related by blood or bond, is really so special. I absolutely love this aspect of her stories and always get excited when new characters are introduced into the fold. I’m excited to see where she takes things next and who she’ll focus on. Can’t wait for more.
Cutter by Laramie Briscoe is the third book in her Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team series. In a refreshing change we start this book by leaving Laurel Springs and heading directly towards a dangerous hurricane that is closing in on the Alabama coastline.
Cutter Thompson is part of the LSERT and is on the team of emergency rescue personnel that have been sent in to assist the Paradise Lost city personnel in their rescue and recovery efforts. The last thing Cutter ever expected was to find his soul mate.
Rowan Baker has overcome much in her life. The loss of a child, the indifference of an uncaring husband, and is set on being the best EMT in Paradise Lost. When she ends up partnered with a medic from the LSERT team she is pleasantly surprised by how well they work together. But when the hurricane is over and the cleanup is done there is nothing left for Cutter to do but return home. But how does he leave Rowan behind and still be able to move forward with his life?
Loved it – well-written and well-paced, nice change of scenery, plenty of drama with the hurricane, heat with the connection between these two characters, and emotion when they finally get out of their own way and make a move for each other. Enjoy!
I love this series! Cutter and Rowan’s book was flipping fantastic. The way they connected through working the disaster was like seeing something beautiful beneath the destruction. I loved they way the author showed the way they were gentle with each other’s feelings and just knew when to sit and be still. The sexy scenes were raw and romantic too. Some of the authors best work to date.
Cutter is an EMT and part of the LSERT. He goes to help out after a hurricane in Rowan’s hometown. Rowan is also an EMT. They meet while helping the people of the town. They each have issues from their past to overcome. I loved Cutter and Rowan, they have an instant connection and even though they have both been burned they make the decision to make their relationship work right from the start. They help each other start over. There isn’t much conflict in the book, the little bit there was is short. It’s mostly about them overcoming their pasts and learning to trust someone new. It’s nice that the secondary characters are supportive and they don’t have a bunch of people telling them what to do. Definitely a few tears shed with this book.
Oh my goodness, Rowan and Cutter’s story is a slow burn with a big payoff.
Poor Rowan’s past is filled with tragedy and haunting details. You will cry. Cutter has a different kind of past, full of mistakes. But they help each other move forward and build a solid relationship together. As always, it’s great to catch up with the MTF crew and families. Whitney continues to be one of my favorite feisty characters of all time!
It’s almost always like coming to home when you are reading Laramie Briscoe’s books and I really like that. This is Cutter’s and Rowan’s book and I liked both of them. I liked how they met and how their relationship went foward. Well of course hurricane is not good thing ever but because of that Cutter and Rowan meets.
The town of Laurel Springs continues to grow near and dear to my heart. Cutter and Rowan are two souls searching for peace. They have both experienced heartbreak, for very different reasons and they found solace in one another. Their story is passionate, tear-inducing and heartwarming. As the LSERT series continues, Briscoe masterfully weaves the MTF characters in to bring added depth. Cutter is no exception, as we see how his character is shaped through his relationships with his dad, Havoc and his brother, Ransom. We also meet Rowan and Sullivan, a new sister and brother team that will become permanent to the Laurel Springs town. This is another great addition to Briscoe’s catalog!

Wow this is my first foray into the world of Laramie Briscoe but I’m glad I took the plunge!
Being from a family of first responders, this book had me emotional from the start, hurricanes and heartache. I loved the backdrop of these EMTs lives and it added such richness to their story. Both Cutter and Rowan have been through hell but it’s time they started moving forward and living again. They were great together and i loved the family/friends they had supporting them. I’ll definitely be reading this rest in this series! Great book!

So this book kept me up most of the night. I just could not stop wanting to read it. I loved Cutter so much. Put this on your to buy list. You will love it.
Cutter meets Rowan when he has to report to Paradise Lost as a volunteer for an incoming hurricane. As EMTs both he and Rowan know what a lot of Rescue during a mass emergency will look like, but they didn’t count on meeting each other. The first thing both Cutter and Rowan are worried about is whether or not the other could stand to hear about the secrets in their past.
A sweetly sexy story with non-stop action between Emergency services and law enforcement, Cutter was well worth the hype!! I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Cutter is the fourth title in the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team and features Cutter and Rowan. This pair are incredibly complex and damaged, with their fair share of secrets. Despite their vulnerabilities this hero and heroine are also quite resilient and strong. Their connection and chemistry is instantaneous and undeniable.
Cutter is an emotional story that whilst heartbreaking is also quite heartwarming. A story of love, healing, friendship and family. I look forward to future additions to this series.
This deals with loss, betrayal, healing and love. Cutter and Rowan have been through so much and need to come out on the other side. They met when he volunteers to go to Paradise Lost, Alabama with LSERT to help during Hurricane Tatum. Both are amazing EMT’s and give everything they have to the job. We finally get to learn what happened that changed things for Cutter and also the details behind Rowan’s loss. These two have explosive chemistry and really learn to trust and open up to each other. This was well written and the storyline was amazing to read. The banter between Stella, Whitney and Rowan was hilarious.
Cutter is the fourth book in Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team, and from the very beginning I was drawn into the story, I couldn’t put it down. It was so good, emotional, second chances, a family that I’ve grown to love, and funny moments. I adored Cutter and Rowen, they were just what the other needed, and they had intense passion. I like that past characters, are in eachother’s stories too. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
I really enjoy reading the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team stories! I cannot wait to see what is in store for Cutter. Where is a group of the LSERT folks going and why? Why are they gathering at 3:00 am? Who is Rowan? Where is she from and what does she do for a living? What is going on in her life? I liked Isaac and Sullivan! Well, I got to read some heartbreaking secrets, but also got to enjoy watching new love blossom. Read and see what happens!

Finally getting the highly anticipated story of Cutter! Cutter had been scorned in the past and it has dictated how he has lived his life. Starting to get his life on track by joining the LSERT team, he is dispatched for the first time to an area hard hit by Hurricane Tatum. After coming out on the other end of her hard past, Rowen feels like she has finally gotten a grasp on living instead of mourning – barely. But everything changes when she meets Cutter while helping rescue the people of her hometown. As they get to know each other, things develop naturally but quickly, and they both start to work through their pasts while giving each other the ability to start their lives over and fresh. My heart really broke for Rowen and what the experienced in her past but I loved her character development. I loved that we also finally got to know what really happened to Cutter after getting bits and pieces in the past books, and his character made a lot more sense after that. I’m loving the LSERT team and this next generation of books and can’t wait for the next one!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
After losing his scholarship, Cutter Thompson became an EMT and is now ready for a change in his life. When Hurricane Tatum arrives, he leaves for the south to help.
There he meets EMT Rowan Baker, who also had to reinven herself after the death of her four-year-old daughter.
As they work to help those in need in the city, they get to know each other better and spend more time together. Cutter really listens to what Rowan says and the two understand each other perfectly.
But when Cutter needs to return to Laurel Springs, they will have to work hard for this long-distance relationship. They also have to learn to fully trust each other whit their secrets from the past.
I loved the story and the characters, it was also great to see characters from other books in these series. I highly recommend the reading.
4.5-stars
Cutter by Laramie Briscoe was an emotional, heartbreaking and heartwarming story. I absolutely loved Cutter Thompson and Rowan Baker. Both were broken, lost and just maybe, exactly what the other needed. Each carried baggage from their past that weighed heavily on each. They meet after a hurricane devastates her town and he is there to help. They spend time together and get to know each other. I loved their journey and could not read it fast enough. It was a moving story and one of the best in the series.
