Crow & Bronte a Fast and Fury MC book – 1
My notes :
Drug kings, secrets, death, losing best friend, murder, new job, new friends, drama, love, uncle, niece, baby … , kidnapping, custom build motorcycles , investigations, chemistry, bantering, smutty.
In this book we get to know so many characters, the main characters have a lot going on, sometimes it was an bit to much, but overall I really liked reading it and loved the storyline.
Definitely a 4 star read.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
Bronte Pierce is having the worst year of her life. She has lost her job, saying goodbye to a lifelong dream, and might have to move back in with her dad if she doesn’t find a job soon. While visiting her dad, her uncle tells her about a job at a local motorcycle shop needing someone to answer phones and do paperwork. Although she knows nothing about motorcycles, she is a fast learner and needs a job.
When she meets her new boss, Crow is not what she was thinking her boss would be. He is stubborn, hard-headed, honest, and gorgeous.
Crow wasn’t looking for Bronte to walk through the door, she pushes all his buttons and he just wants to strip her bare and have his way with her. But he has to keep his distance, so he will pill the work on her and see what she is made of.
There is someone after Bronte and Crow is there to protect her and but can he save the day? Who is after her and why? Will Crow give in to his feelings for Bronte? Is there a chance for a relationship? Can they have a future together?
I really liked this story, with the suspense aspect, I was trying to figure out who was after Bronte and it never crossed my mind. I didn’t realize this was a new series and I am so glad it has some of the characters from the Knights of Fury series in it too. If you are looking for a really good story with romance, suspense, laughter, tears, and HEA, then this one is for you. I can’t wait for the next one.

“You have me, which means you have my boys.”
Where do I sign up for that? Having him or one of his boys, sounds like a win-win to me. I’m a fan of the author’s Wind Dragon MC series and couldn’t resist trying this one after reading the synopsis. Crow sounded like an alpha asshole who’s also a badass biker and just what I enjoy reading. And I did…and he is…sigh.
I enjoyed the buildup as Crow and Bronte circled each other. He might be acting all gruff and standoffish with her, but their chemistry is sparking and I was excited for them to finally ignite. And, I was excited to work out my mental muscles as the suspense built as well.
While this is only the first book in the Fast & Fury series, there are characters that we’ve seen in other books by this author. As always, the MC family is strong and the women are fierce. I look forward to what comes next. The line forms here…
I enjoyed this start to a new series. It was entertaining, sexy, and romantic. I will continue reading this series.
This book was a mess of unnecessary and unrealistic situations, with random characters, and the most non MC storyline that I’ve ever read.
It didn’t started bad though…
Quite the contrary actually.
It started with a good introduction of the characters and their whereabouts.
It was a cliche situation with the sheltered girl and the grumpy bad boy member of a MC, but it was interesting enough to continue… and for that, I’m giving my two stars.
But then sh*t started to happen and it didn’t stopped until the end.
A few things made sense to the story at first, but mostly were there just to add some kind of shocking or drama factor (or maybe just word count).
It was a mess of cry over some death in a minute to I love you and sweet nothings in the next. And then repeat all over again.
So many unnecessary things dragging the boredom in the end…
Everything happened to Bronte and things become so extra in the end, that I didn’t even wanted to finish it.
But i did it…
Don’t recommend it though.
PS.: This series is spin off of another series and their characters are all over the place.
I also didn’t knew that.
I don’t read a lot of MC romance but what I have read usually falls into one of two categories: either the MC is completely legit or completely bad. Now, I’m sure there are plenty out there that fall somewhere in the middle, but as I said, I don’t read a lot of this particular romance trope. Anyway, my point is that this one seems to fall in that middle area. The characters are likable and their interactions feel like a family. There is mention of illegal activity, but this story revolves around a custom motorcycle shop. As I said, the characters are likable, and it’s pretty much impossible not to feel sorry for Bronte. She certainly has her share of trouble. To be honest, the story was over the top and required a fair bit of suspension of disbelief, enough that this one could’ve gone either way for me. What saved it for me was Crow. I couldn’t help but love Crow. He’s grumpy and he and Bronte don’t exactly see eye to eye at first, but getting there is half the fun. This one is easily read in an afternoon, and there are things about the storyline that I’d have liked more development on, but it’s still a good start to what looks like an entertaining series. In the end, there were things I liked and some that didn’t quite hit the mark for me, but I’m interested to see where things go for the characters of Fast & Fury, so I will be checking out the next in the series.
Bronte is in need of a break after an awful year. She gets a job in the local motorcycle shop that Crow owns. Crow is the owner of the motor cycle shop and a member of an MC. He is abrupt with Bronte and just rude in general to her. Bronte still thinks he’s hot but a jerk. A murder leads her to need Crow to protect her. Bronte ends up part of a new family. A good read with plenty of steam.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am leaving a review.
I loved this story so much! I can’t wait to read more character stories. Crow is a dream man for sure. So many heart breaking twists in this story you never see coming. Fantastic read.
Underdeveloped plot and characters. Poorly edited.
This was a great story for Crow and Bronte. (It was also great to have characters from previous books in the story!! It was like catching up with family!) This was a cute hater to lovers story along with tragic turn included. Enjoyable read.
Love it!
Bronte never knew losing her job would lead her to Fast & Fury and Crow. When she loses her Dad and she finds she has a new family and friends surrounding her and helping her along the way. Danger surrounds her and everyone she knows as she discovers secrets. I loved this first book in this series and I loved every word. I cannot wait until the next release, I can’t read these books fast enough.
This was book 1 in the ” Fast & Fury” series this series is a spin off of the “Knights of Fury” . Bronte Pierce has just lost a job that she loves while at her dad’s house she finds out that she has a cousin that she didn’t know she has her uncle Neville didn’t know he had a daughter and she hooks her up with a job. Fast & Fury is a custom motorcycle shop that is owned and run by bikers members of the Knights. The shop is run by Crow a hot sexy biker who she is sure doesn’t like her. Bronte has a lot going on in her world when her father is killed she finds out that her father and her uncle are drug kingpins and everyone knew but her. Bronte is determined to find out what happened to her father turns out he was set up by a woman he was seeing he was killed by her ex. Crow who has been by her side since her dad died was very patient with her. These two has some hot sexy scenes. I liked how the secondary characters were there for her including her best friend Billie who was mistaken for her. I read and listened to this book the narration was very good. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series
Got this fun mailing and it was a JOY. I love a good alpha read and Crow and Bronte were it. I loved that this book was fast paced and sexy. The author threw you in with these two and you got to watch the fireworks happen.
This is the first novel in the series and my first novel from this author. I am definitely hooked and want to read her previous series STAT.
This novel is fast paced and has its action. It was a definite binge read for me and was the perfect length to do so. I like the angst and I love the back and forth and throw those two things into a bike shop and YES.
All in all a sexy motorcycle read that leaves you with a whole new crew that you can’t wait to have books for.
Custom Built by Chantal Fernando is the first book in the Fast and Fury series. It is a spin-off of her Knights of Fury series. Readers familiar with her Knight of Fury series would recognise most of the characters featured in Custom Built.
This installment introduces the reader to Bronte and Crow, two likeable and relatable characters. The story began with Bronte experiencing major upheavals in her life. She lost her job as a private investigator’s assistant and she’s dealing with major health issues. The only good thing in her life is the relationship she shares with her dad. She had a breakthrough in her job search when her uncle arranged to get her a job at a motor cycle shop. The only drawback was her jerk of a boss who did not appreciate the way she secured the job.
Crow is a member of Knights of Fury motorcycle club. His attraction to Bronte took him by surprise and he tried covering it up by acting like a jerk towards her. However, when tragedy struck placing Bronte’s life in danger his protective instincts kicked in and soon these two will find themselves building a relationship that was passionate and sweet.
I had a great time with this book. I am fairly new to the author’s work having only read the last book from her Knights of Fury series. I can see why she is a favourite for readers of this genre. She pulled me into her story from the start and kept me entertained until the end. I enjoyed the mix of romance and suspense, which I found to be well balanced. It lacked the darkness and grittiness one would expect from a MC story. It was all around sweet and passionate story.
Bronte and Crow may have been complete opposites in terms of lifestyle but they were both strong willed and determined. An unlikely pair who made the perfect couple.
The secondary characters helped to make the story a fun read amid the unhappiness, danger and secrets that often surrounds Bronte.
Custom Built proved to be a well written story filled with secrets, heat, suspense and danger. I am looking forward to reading more from the author.
Loving this new series from Chantal! I love that Chantal was able to continue writing in this MC world – after reading the first set of books in this book world I was so excited for it to go on! This book kept me guessing trying to figure out what exactly was going on and who was behind all the trouble and the answers were not a disappointment! After a slew of bad luck, Bronte finds herself single and without a job. Thankfully, her uncle is able to secure her a job and she is excited at the prospect, until she meets Crow and he acts like she’s entitled and unhelpful. Proving him wrong while also attracted to him, she struggles a bit trying to keep her feelings at bay, but once they give into each other the chemistry is amazing! But when devastation strikes in Bronte’s life, Crow proves that he is a great guy and really is there for her while also supporting her on finding out the truth of her father’s death. I truly enjoyed this book and loved the love story between these two. I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
4 stars for Bronte. She went through a lot in this story and still stood tall in the end. Her character grew stronger as she realized that she could depend on others and still be an independent woman. Sometimes there was doubt but she picked herself up and pushed forward. Crow was the perfect partner for Bronte. He was there for her highs and lows; her knight in shining armor. As a member of the Knights, he was not always following the straight and narrow but he was good to her and his baby sister. When he claims Bronte, his club claims Bronte. She has him and the club at her back. When danger calls, they answer.
Fast paced story. The friendships and family she finds help lighten some of the tragedy. The camaraderie and love add to story. Family is not always blood.
Down on her luck Bronte’s Uncle Neville hooks her up with a job working at a motorcycle shop. She knows nothing about motorcycles but is willing to learn. Her first day doesn’t go as smooth as she hoped, especially when her gorgeous but infuriating boss Crow leaves her on her own. Despite the feeling of Crow’s dislike for her, she becomes fast friends with her just-found-out-about cousin and her girlfriends. When an unexpected tragedy happens Crow is the one to lend his shoulder to cry on. Bronte is quickly pulled into the crew’s circle as another tragedy occurs. As her suspicions grow so does her need to find out the truth, putting herself in danger.
Having read this author’s previous books, I’m excited for the start of this new series! I loved how Crow, a big, bad biker, was sweet and protective of Bronte. Bronte learns quickly the meaning of family in the motorcycle club world, especially when Crow finally claims her as his own. Looking forward to the next book!
Thank you Netgalley and Harlequin – Carina Press for the opportunity to read a copy.
2.5 stars
While this book as listed as the first in the Fast & Fury series, it quickly became obvious this series is a spin-off of another series. Let me be clear, I was not lost while reading this story. Strictly speaking, you do not have to read the Knights of Fury series in order to read this series. But I did feel as though there was some depth missing. Now, whether that is because I hadn’t read the other series or because that is the style of this author’s writing, I don’t know. She is a new-to-me author.
I truly wanted to like this story. I actually love the concept and storyline. Yet I found the execution lacking. I felt there was a whole lot of telling and not enough showing. Bronte and Crow are both extremely likable characters. The tension between the two when they first meet is wonderful and fun. I’m not one for dragging things out, but the build-up in this one was over too quickly. There was every reason that Crow and Bronte should have been lighting the pages on fire, but I wasn’t feeling their connection the way I wanted.
Many readers have a problem with first person stories. I do not. In fact, one of my favorite authors writes in first person all the time. It never strikes me as odd or awkward. In this story, it was something I noticed throughout. The way it was written, along with the speed with which I read, often had me missing the end quotation marks. This often caused confusion as to what was being said out loud and what was in Bronte’s head. It just wasn’t working for me. And, quite frankly, the last few chapters (I’d say about 15% or so of the book) were really unnecessary. I really don’t need a climax, a resolution, more conflict, and another climax. Once I’ve had my resolution, my mind starts to move on.
Again, the actual storyline idea and the characters themselves I really enjoyed. The writing style, some very blatant inconsistencies throughout, and the lack of palpable chemistry made this a bit of a dud for me. I may eventually try another of this author’s titles. I don’t like judging an author off one book, especially when it seems I’m missing some back story. There’s definitely something there I like, I just need more overall.

CUSTOM BUILT is the first instalment in Chantal Fernando’s contemporary, adult FAST AND FURY erotic, romance series-a spin off from the author’s KNIGHTS OF FURY MC series. This is twenty-four year old, PA Bronte Pierce, and mechanic/Knights of Fury MC member Xeno Crow’s story line. CUSTOM BUILT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading TEMPER (Knights of Fury 3) for back story and cohesion.
Told from first person perspective (Bronte) CUSTOM BUILT follows the building relationship between twenty-four year old, PA Bronte Pierce, and mechanic/Knights of Fury MC member Xeno Crow. Bronte Pierce was let go from a job she loved as the assistant to a private investigator. With no other job prospects in sight, she reluctantly tells her father and uncle about her struggles when her uncle comes through with a new source of employment. Enter mechanic/Knights of Fury MC member Xeno Crow, the manager of Fast and Fury Custom Motorcycles. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Crow and Bronte, and the potential fall-out as the sins of the father demand payment in full.
Bronte Pierce is the only daughter of Freddy Pierce, and as such is the apple of her father’s eye but family secrets run dangerous and deep, and Freddy is about to pay the price for sins of the past. Caught up in the mayhem, Bronte calls in her former boss to start an investigation into the who, how and why, only to discover that her father and uncle’s secrets run much deeper than she could have ever imagined.
The relationship between Bronte and Crow begins acrimoniously as Crow appears to take an immediate disliking to our story line heroine but a night out with friends finds Bronte on the dance floor with Xeno Crow, and all bets are off for the foreseeable future. Crow had struggled to keep his distance from our story line heroine but the heart wanted something more than a working relationship. The $ex scenes are passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are reintroduced to several members of the Knight of Fury MC: Temper and Abbie, Skylar and Saint, Renny and Izzy; mechanic and custom motorcycle designer Cameron, as well as Bronte’s father Freddy, and her uncle Neville; Bronte’s friend Billie; her former boss and PI Nadia, Crow’s sister Heidi; Jean and her daughter Anne.
CUSTOM BUILT is a story of family, secrets and sooooo many lies. Bronte Pierce was hit with the reality that everything about her life and the family she knew and loved was predicated upon a lie, and as such she was pulled into the fall-out of her father’s hidden life. The romance is seductive; the characters are colorful; the premise is intriguing but there was something missing. I felt disconnected from the characters; there was no palpable energy even though so many murders, deaths and threats to our story line heroine- it was like everyone was just going through the motions, like a bad B-movie.
As stated in a previous review for the author, I wish the story line was told in dual perspective as we are oblivious to Crow’s whereabouts on many occasions, and the behind the scenes happenings. Our hero would appear and disappear without explanation or reason, and in this I felt there could have been so much more detail to add the world building and the series.
