She’s out of her element. He’s driving her crazy. Will they go down swinging or knock it out of the park?Maddie Barlow thought she had everything figured out. But just six months from high school graduation, her dad moves the family to the crummy small town of Armitage. Between her new classmates and the team’s smooth-talking captain, Maddie has made more enemies than friends…
Holden Carter just watched his playoff dreams go up in smoke. He’ll stop at nothing to make sure the trio of daddy’s girls ride the bench all season. Even if that means toying with their emotions. When the fiery Maddie comes to her little sister’s defense, Holden wonders if he’s finally found a worthy opponent.
Maddie is determined to squash her instant attraction to the handsome, arrogant team captain… and his advances toward her sister. But just as she’s starting to find out that things aren’t what they seem in Armitage, she falls hard for the dashing Holden. When she’s faced with hurting her sister or abandoning a shot at love, Maddie must decide who’s team she’s really on…

This is the first book that I have read by this author.
The plot deals with the real anguish children face when uprooted from their normal setting and are plopped down in a new environment.
Dad is a bit heavy-handed with the coach, and bullying from the sports team should have been expected when girls are forced into inclusion onto the team.
I loved the interaction of the sisters with each other. As to the mystery of the thefts, a little more development of that character would have made a good story even better–subplots and all that stuff.
All in all, a good light read that has a hidden life-affirming message. You can read the story to figure it out yourself.
This book was so much better than I could have ever imagined. I love that the main characters are not only sisters but best friends and incredibly strong women.
The Barlow sisters were wonderful characters who showed a bond that literally made me wish I had a sister. They always had each other’s backs and they were hilarious in their own way. I definitely wanted to know more about them.
I also enjoyed Holden, the main guy, because his character started out what seemed like a “typical jock” but actually revealed a deeper side who was kind, smart, and funny. He became more self-aware and I liked how his feelings for Maddie made him want to be better.
Overall, I can’t wait to find out more and continue this series.
A knock-out read!
She’s out of her element…
He’s driving her crazy…
Will they go down swinging or knock it out of the park?
An intriguing read full of romance and mystery. Really liked the romance and couldn’t wait for them to get together though it took quite a while before that happened.
Enjoyable story. Loved the relationship the sisters have with each other – really nice to read about it.
There were a few things that annoyed the hell out of me and it just shows immaturity of the characters and at times the story but overall it was a good read.
Full of attraction, romance, angst, mystery, danger and baseball.
Prefect for readers of contemporary romances/sports romances.
Curveball is the first book in a new series called Barlow Sisters. As you might gather, this trilogy involves three sisters – not triplets like they get mistaken for. Instead, Max and Maddie are twins, with Chloe being a bit younger. They have been uprooted and driven across the country, but they are still there for each other. Their relationship is as close as you could want – sisters before misters. However, a spanner gets thrown in the works in the shape of Holden Carter. Not only does Chloe fall instantly in love with him, but he infuriates Maddie to the nth degree. She has a few words to say to him, which hurt him. So he decides to show her he isn’t what she accused him of being. Throw in some robberies, a bit of sport, friendship, sisterhood, and you’ve got yourself another winner by Jordan Ford.
I love reading Jordan Ford books because I am always surprised by something that is going on within those pages. The characters, and situations, leap off the page before you, drawing you into their world, so you feel all their pain, their heartache, their joy. One part that really got me, was when Holden took Maddie to Cresthill, and she spent time with his grandpa. Lump, meet throat – you’re going to become very acquainted with each other right now. I thought I had the bad guy figured out, and I did (yey me!), but somehow I still ended up feeling sorry for him. Every character in this book was believable, and therefore relate-able.
With no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow, this book flowed from start to finish. It was completely engrossing, and I can’t wait to read the other sisters’ stories, especially as I have them paired up already! Highly recommended by me.

I’ve already fallen in love with this new series. These three sisters are tight and this book mainly focuses on the eldest Madelyn. Maddie and her sisters are starting over in a new school without a women’s baseball team so they join the boys..yeah that goes down well.
Holden (think arrogant jock..at least on the surface) is intrigued by Maddie so to annoy her goes after her sister. Will it be sisters before misters or trouble?
What’s going on in this small town with thefts and assault on the school grounds? Is it the obvious bad boy family or someone else?
A little bit of mystery, drama and not too much teen angst made for a brilliant easy to read story. I’m really looking forward to the other sister’s stories.
What a great start to the Barlow Sisters trilogy! I loved the stolen moments between Maddie and Holden, especially the night when she discovers another side of him.
Life in Armitage is full of surprises, both good and bad, and I look forward to finding out what challenges await the Barlow sisters. I can’t wait to see what Max is up to and I am anxiously awaiting Chloe’s story!
