I love all of Nicole’s books but I was so excited to read Curtis after the Walker Brothers’ stories. It didn’t disappoint and Curtis is a new fave! I loved their history and the great love Curtis & Lorrie have.
I loved this book SO much! (No spoilers here). I was not sure how it would capture my attention as much (as the other books in the series) being the parents’ story of such “adventuresome” 🙂 boys, but WOW, did it ever!!! Nicole Edwards did a fabulous job of capturing 2 young hearts and their love story that truly took time to develop. The love connection wasn’t spontaneous, but it was exciting! It wasn’t outside the old norm lines to be “taboo”, but it gripped you right from the start! It took time to develop, and every step was necessary to show the true timeless devotion between these 2. I loved the characters development through their years of growing up as adults, and growing together in love!!!
I have always wanted to know more about the parents who raised seven boys who were all a handful. This is the story of Lorrie and Curtis from when Lorrie was 13 and Curtis was 16. It follows them through the decades to the present day. I believe this is my favorite Walker story so far. The characters are three-dimensional with genuine emotion and their love story was so original it kept me drawn in from start to finish. The one element I didn’t like was how passive and dependent Lorrie was in the first decade of their story. It made sense for the first part of the book, but she remains passive long after she should have been emerging and a strong self sufficient woman. The level of dependence is not necessary for Lorrie’s relationship with Curtis to work or for Curtis to be
believable as an alpha-male. Fortunately, she does develop into the strong woman her sons needed to see in order to grow up with respect for independent women. Overall, I adored this love story that has endured for decades. If you like Nicole Edwards’ books, then don’t hesitate to download it, pick it up or listen to it today.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Audible.
This was my first time listening to a duet narration by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel and it was fantastic. Nicole Edwards is kicking off the Coyote Ridge series with “Curtis” which is about the parents of the Walker kids in the Alluring Indulgence series. While I’ve listened to some of those books, I skipped ahead because I really wanted to hear this narration team. Really, 80% of this is about the relationship *before* the boys come along and while it might be helpful to have listened/read about all of them ~ I really enjoyed it even without that background.
This starts when Curtis and Lorrie are in school, and Lorrie is only 14 years old (don’t worry, any sex is between consenting adults). This really was a beautiful love story told over several decades. And while we get some amazing Edwards-patented sex scenes, this is also incredibly romantic and deeply moving. I really liked it.
Thom & Ongel were fantastic and I’ll be seeking them out in the future.

~~ 5 LEGENDARY STARS! ~
“You’re my love that lasts a lifetime.”
Nicole Edwards steals hearts in CURTIS: The Walkers of Coyote Ridge! I first fell in love with Curtis and Lorrie after listening to BEAU on Audible, and when I found out that the author was bringing the beloved matriarch and patriarch’s story to audio, I was over the moon excited!
PREMISE:
The story opens with the entire Walker clan rallying around Curtis as his beloved wife, Lorrie, faces a grave health crisis which could rip her from their lives forever. Sitting vigil day by day as Lorrie—the center of his entire world–hovers between wife and death, we flash back to 1963 when their legendary courtship first begins as they come face to face as starry-eyed youngsters. Relayed via a series of remembrances we are swept up into Mr. and Mrs. Walker’s rich, storied history that spans over 53 years and over the ensuing decades as they fall in love, wed, and endeavor to start a family, it’s quite an emotional roller coaster ride indeed!
Lorrie and Curtis may have grown up in the same town, but Curtis and his teenage bride come from two drastically different upbringings and throughout the years they go through a plethora of ups and downs. Not only enduring the heartbreaking long separations stemming from Curtis’s military service but upon his return withstanding triumphs and tragedies, heartaches and joys that would have ripped a less devoted couple asunder. But Mr. and Mrs. Walker are far from any ORDINARY couple and despite everything they mustered the strength and resilience—and an abundance of love–to stick together through thick and thin. However, this storied duo has one last battle to face as the entire Walker clan, along with Lorrie’s befuddled doctors, scramble to get to the bottom of her mysterious illness before time runs out!
MY THOUGHTS:
I was COMPLETELY ENRAPTURED by Curtis and Lorrie’s rich, tumultuous love saga which traverses 5 decades! Chronicled via Lorrie’s vibrantly detailed diary entries which takes the reader on a nostalgic walk down memory lane, I found myself falling even deeper in love with the matriarch and patriarch of the Curtis clan with each ensuing year!
I truly cannot rave enough about this BRILLIANTLY CRAFTED, heart rendering love saga that Nicole Edwards gifted her fans with. Curtis—in all his strong, stalwart, sweetly protective glory—just melted my heart and the stars were truly aligned when he found the beautiful, blonde haired, blue-eyed love of his life! Lorrie was as feisty as he was formidable and together they were a match made in Coyote Ridge heaven! I felt all the heart tumbling swoony feels, the gut-wrenching angst and the sweet blessings that transpired between these two from start to finish!
This couple shared a legendary love but…HOLY MOLY…the beginning years of their marriage were rocky indeed! And even though an honorable Curtis made some KNUCKLE-HEADED decisions along the way, breaking poor Lorrie’s vulnerable heart in the process, while he waited for his pretty young bride to mature a bit before returning home from war, his all-consuming love for her was NEVER in question. And oh how I REJOICED when this beleaguered duo finally regained their footing. The sexual tension and emotional tug of war was torturous at times but when Curtis and Lorrie finally consummated their marriage it was well worth the wait! The love scenes were combustible, deliciously arousing and plentiful, and their time between the sheets paid off in spades! Because despite some heartbreaking stumbling blocks in their attempts to start a family, they came to not only be the proud parents of 7 rambunctious boys but a brood of darling grandchildren!
Of course, it goes without saying that the duet narration by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel was OUT OF THIS WORLD AMAZING! In fact, it’s my favorite narration by this dynamite duo to date! Mr. Thom once again brought Curtis Walker to flesh and blood life with his good ol’ boy country twang, whiskey rough voice, and gruffly tender line deliveries. Via his robust depiction of this proud family patriarch, you could practically see the devilish twinkle in Curtis’s eyes, envision the stubborn set of his granite jaw, and picture his big, brawny arms gathering his beloved bride close during times of joy and sorrow. And every time he crooned “darlin” or “baaaaaby,” I GUSHED LIKE A SCHOOLGIRL!
And Ms. Ongel knocked it out of the park as Curtis’s long-suffering wife Lorrie—an endearing heroine with a gentle, kind disposition but also a plucky spirit and a backbone of steel. In these narrators oh so capable hands, Lorrie and Curtis oozed chemistry and sparks –their banter was witty and charming yet also achingly emotional and utterly heartbreaking at times –and the warmth, familiarity, passion and pathos that flowed between Mr. and Mrs. Walker over the course of their 50 plus years of marriage was so organic and true it burrowed itself deep inside my heart. Mr. Thom and Ms. Ongel also did a bang-up job with the supporting characters, once again proving their diverse vocal talents!
A STELLAR AUDIO LISTEN WHICH I MOST HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

One of the best audiobooks I ever listened to & deserves 5+*’s.
Narators Tor Thom and Charley Ongel were the perfect choice to narate this novel. This is the best naration performance of Charley Ongel and Tor Thom that I ever listened too. Tor Thom did a award winning performance with his performance of Curtis. His Texas drawl was flawless. I absolutely loved Charley Ongel’s performance of mama Walker. I hope to get to listen to the other books in this series when available. I absolutely loved everything about this naration.
Definitely worth a relisten.
This is the story of how the Walker boys came to be. It’s an amazing story that spans decades and generations. There Momma and Daddy’s love story from 1962 to present day. It’s touching, sad, funny, emotionally charged and gives you an idea on way the sons are so very wild, compassionate and hot, because they got it from there sexy, loving parents.
I loved this story.
This is the audible book review of Curtis and I have to thank Tor Thom and Charley Ongel for gifting me this story and mentioning what a fabulous job they did in the narration.
Nicole Edwards know how to push my buttons with this story that’s for sure!
I took a few trips down memory lane while listening to this story. It was very emotional at times.
Curtis is Lorri and Curtis Walker’s story. The heads of the Walker family in Coyote Ridge.
Before this book I listened to the books about their sons and while doing so I wanted to know more about Lorri and Curtis.
In this book you get to know them both from the time they were teenagers. Follow them on their journey to adulthood, their ups and downs, their sorrows and their happiness.
I’m left of wanting more of this Walker family saga
FAMILY SAGA!
I loved it, it has heart, romance and a realistic feel to it. The start of the Walkers is sweet and so intriguing I couldn’t leave it.
The characters is developed in to realistic humans I can relate to. There’s so much feelings so keep your Kleenex near.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings and great dialogues.
Narrators:
This couple is one of my favourites. Their voices is nice to listen to and they have clear pronunciation. Feelings comes through in their reading.
5 stars all around

Curtis is amazing. He has been through so much, from war, to years of separation from his new bride, to loss after loss and also happiness. His life was hard, but it did not harden him. His love for Lorrie is intense and unshakeable. Lorrie is such a strong woman. The trials she has lived through are just as difficult as Curtis’. Their love makes this story real. It gives depth to the family, characters and entire series. There is so much emotion in this book that it is a very intense story. I could not stop listening. There were times I held my breath. There were times I cried. There were times I laughed. But through the whole story, I never wanted it to end.
Tor Thom and Charley Ongel truly make the perfect narrating team for this story. Tor Thom’s deep voice brings Curtis to life. Every emotion, action and reaction from Curtis was perfectly narrated by Tor Thom. Mr. Thom’s different tones makes it very easy to follow the story and characters. Charley Ongel’s voice is always a great contrast to Tor Thom’s. Ms Ongel brings Lorrie to life. She narrates Lorrie exactly as I imagined Lorrie to be, sweet yet strong. The chemistry between Tor Thom and Charley Ongel helps bring out the intense love between Curtis and Lorrie. This book is a must listen!
Curtis
The Walkers of Coyote Ridge, Book 1
By: Nicole Edwards
Narrated by: Tor Thom, Charley Ongel
I am a huge Nicole Edwards fan, but I think of all her stories, this is my favorite book. A look at the Walker family as it started. We take a walk down memory lane learning how Curtis and Lorrie got together, the trials of a young marriage, being separated by war and how they kept their love alive. I loved it from start to finish. Lorrie is a strong woman, but seeing her grow from the young teenager she was into the mother of 7 was a journey. Not always easy, Lorrie grew from each experience, learning and using the lessons learned. Curtis is a protective man, full of pride and though he made mistakes, he is not one not to own up to them. He is sweet, caring and can’t help but fall for him just like Lorrie. As the boys and Curtis wait and worry as Lorrie is now sick, we get to fall in love with their lives. I especially loved the idea of the journals kept and how beautifully it documented their lives.
I enjoyed the narration of this book, it’s one of my top listens of the year. Tor Thom and Charley Ongel gave such an incredible performance. With a slight twang to their voices, we are exported back into their lives. The two create a world for us to delve into, feel the emotions of their 50 year marriage and experience every heartache and every joy. To say they brought the story to life is an understatement as they truly became Curtis and Lorrie for me.

I have missed the Walker family and reading this story was like returning to one of my favourite series of books for me! This one was no different. Nicole Edwards really is one of my favourite authors.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the story of Curtis and Lorrie. A couple where it all began with! A love between two people that is just undeniable. A love that lasts a lifetime! Who wouldn’t want a love like that? I know I want it and hope to have it some day!
We get to read where it all started, how Curtis and Lorrie met and what their story is. It really didn’t bother me that it was written in parts. You really get to know Curtis and Lorrie; heartwarming but also heartbreaking moments they went through…. An emotional journey but so many great moments.
Another amazing story in the Walker series, although this one is from a spin-off, definitely worth the 5 stars 🙂 Can’t wait to read the follow-up, Jared…
Love me some Curtis and Lorrie!
I have read pretty much all of the Walker Brothers’ stories and have loved them all! While reading those stories I couldn’t help but to fall in love with Curtis and Lorrie! I mean, they are undeniably, two of the coolest parents ever! I was super excited to find out we would be getting their story and I loved every minute of it! It was a beautiful story and gave perfect insight as to why they were who they were and just made me love them all that much more.
I will say after reading this book it is quite clear where the boys get their filthy mouths!!!!! Who knew Curtis could rock those pages like that lol…..
