In these three baffling mysteries of motive and murder, even the great Nero Wolfe finds himself stumped. First there is the case of the two passionate lovebirds who want to make sure that neither is a cold-blooded killer. Then it’s off to the races, where Wolfe must choose from a stable of five likely suspects to corral a killer on horseback. And finally the detective finds himself the confidant … confidant of a distraught, self-described grifter who claims a murderer is stalking Wolfe’s own brownstone. Through brilliant deduction is determined to expose the truth behind the veils of illusion—and bring down the curtain on three all-too-clever murderers.
Introduction by Judith Kelman
“It is always a treat to read a Nero Wolfe mystery. The man has entered our folklore.”—The New York Times Book Review
A grand master of the form, Rex Stout is one of America’s greatest mystery writers, and his literary creation Nero Wolfe is one of the greatest fictional detectives of all time. Together, Stout and Wolfe have entertained—and puzzled—millions of mystery fans around the world. Now, with his perambulatory man-about-town, Archie Goodwin, the arrogant, gourmandizing, sedentary sleuth is back in the original seventy-three cases of crime and detection written by the inimitable master himself, Rex Stout.

If, like me, you occasionally enjoy reading a mystery by a past master I suggest Rex Stout’s classic Curtains for Three. Nero Wolfe was once known as the American Sherlock Holmes. The style is a little different in some ways, but it’s a quality read if you feel adventurous enough to reach into the past for a mystery from yesteryear. David Bishop
This book contains three short stories about how Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin handle mysteries. Good stuff, though I admit I’m prejudiced – I’ve been reading this series since the 1960s.
Always enjoyable to have Archie and Nero around.
Love all the Nero Wolfe books.
Love, love, love any and all timeless Rex Stout novels.
true to form, nero wolfe and archie have it all. a light delightful read set in a previous age when violence and sex were not essential to a mystery work
Enjoy all of Nero Wolfe’s.
Rex Stout has to be best detective writer of all time. I can read them a dozen times over.
Nero and Archie at their best.

I enjoy all of rex stout novels. Dated but still good if you followed wolfe from the start.
Classic Nero Wolfe mystery with Archie Goodwin weaving in and out.
Really enjoyed these stories. All are fun and different
I thought I had read all the Nero Wolfe books but was pleasantly surprised to find this one and realize I would have the joy of reading another book in the series. Rex Stout is one of my all-time favorite authors and I thoroughly enjoy the Nero Wolfe/Archie Goodwin mysteries.
Always enjoy Archie and Nero.
Described as a book containing 3 impossible crimes. The first one fit the bill and I was pleased to have figured it out and to find it very amusing as well. Because the second one was in this collection, it was fairly easy to figure out – that very fact gave away a bit too much. The third was not so much an impossible murder as one that seems …
Love anything written by this author and the world in which he writes it. The best set of mysteries ever!
What is not to enjoy with Rex Stout? Archie Goodwin and Nero Wolfe will always be entertaining and keep you guessing about who done it. Do not miss any Nero Wolfe stories when they are on sale.
I am a true Rex Stout fan. I have most of his Nero Wolfe books and I have read them all. I continue to re-read his novels. I also wish I could work like Nero, a big comfortable chair, a beer at hand, and an associate to bring all the characters to my office. If you like mystery/detective stories you will never go wrong selecting a Rex Stout …
