The book opens with a bang; all the world-setting happens while the main character is learning about it. It’s like a paranormal coming-into-your-power plot, but more aliens than vampires and shifters (although we learn there’s some overlap). Think Men in Black with powers. While this book is clearly a lead in to a series, and leaves me wanting more, it ends at a natural pause in the plot and there is no cliff-hanger. Looking forward to book 2!

Cursing by Lynne Murray is the first book in The Angie Faust Series. This book is about a recent college graduate named Angie Faust, who has found out that the world around her is not what it seems after an incident at work occurs that has her supervisor dropping dead. This book is an incredible read. The characters are unusually amazing and different. The story is compelling and so addicting that I couldn’t put it down. I adored this book because it mixed science fiction, paranormal, mystery, intrigue, and adventure all together to have a book that includes in a little bit of everything. I adored this book so much I’m sad that I can only give it 5 stars when I think it should get at least 6. If you want an imaginative read that you will never forget, this book is for you! Cursing is an imaginative out of this world story!

Book 1 of The Angie Faust Series

This was a great book! I loved the action an adventure. The plot line was so much fun. I could not put it down. The characters were fun, and unique. Love It!!
From the first page, this book promises a wild ride into the unexpected! Angie Faust has been told by her aunt, from the time she could remember, that it was very important to keep her anger under control and to hide the odd ability she had. They likewise moved quite a bit. So when she is in a staff meeting with her nasty Office Manager boss, Carroll Caine, a former Navy Warrant Officer who doesn’t like her and enjoys yelling at her, spitting in her face in rage, she is not surprised to feel a familiar force come from her and enter his chest, grabbing and squeezing his heart. CPR wouldn’t bring him back, she knew, and the natural assumption was that he died from a heart attack. They couldn’t accuse Angie since she never moved toward him and hadn’t touched him.
As her co-workers try to revive Caine, Angie sees a gorgeous man staring at her and he nods in acknowledgment. When she heads off for the elevator, the man follows, introduces himself as Chad, and asks her to meet him after work for coffee. At the “Magic Pastry and Coffee” Angie meets Sophie and is invited meet others with specialized abilities and to join the Extraterrestrial Protective Agency who can help her with the power she can’t control. She is introduced to a whole new world, and even learns more about family members who sort of disappeared. She also learns about the danger she may encounter because of her abilities. Not everyone she comes across is a “good guy” and her powers attract plenty of attention from both the good and bad sort.
Angie’s new environment brings a crazy bunch of creatures, some alien, some magical, some monster-like. It’s a real eye-opener to find what else is living here and looks like a fun series to get into! Grab your copy and prepare for an adventure like none before – well, maybe sort of like MIB but more strange!
What a fun read! In a book that is very reminiscent of Men In Black but magic-like powers and paranormal creatures, the heroine is indoctrinated into a secret society that is a part of, but separate from, our own—one that seeks those with unique abilities so they can protect the regular part of humanity from dangers that the everyday people don’t know about, after she accidentally kills her boss using powers that she never knew she had or even existed. The heroine has a quirky sense of self that is a delight to read in this first-person narrative. There’s a lot of ironic humor in the book; it’s fun to come across these little nuggets. There were some delightful twists and turns, and I loved the ending. Hoping there is more to come. I very much enjoyed this urban fantasy with a paranormal, alien twist!
This story is a surprise. It started off slow not much happened and hard to understand when things started to get interesting. Then things started to get more interesting and explanations started to come thru. It is a deceptive story. It does have some parallels to M.I.B. It is good an makes you want to know what will happen in the future. Very cool I like it. Very cool powers, will there be more in the future? I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
magic and mystery are fore runners in this amazing urban fantasy story, the characters pull you right into their world and make you feel as if you are living it with them, this was an amazing tale that i cannot wait to see more of.

If all you remember is moving a lot when you are a child because you get mad but you don’t understand why someone needs to do some explaining.
This book was kind ot out there with these wacky characters. The story is like Agents of Shields always looking for people with hidden talents.
Except this group is not quite that organized. It is still a decent read if you like reading about individuals that may have more than one nature “don’t think shifter”, powers, criminals trying to control others then this book might be for you.

For Angie, everything changed when she killed her boss with her thoughts. She did not know she could do anything like that. While her boss lies on the floor, with a room full of witness, she is approached by a stranger who has a weird offer. She is given a job offer with the secret agency known as the ExtraTerrestrial Protection Agency. She is not given much of a choice as her own safety is at stake when aliens take an interest in her, and not in a good way. Her world is about to get a whole lot bigger.
This book is a little hard to define, it is a science fiction book, a fantasy book, and a bit of romance, but most of all it is just a great book. The characters are well crafted, full of personality and you become invested in their outcome. The characters are so creative and diverse that they hold your interest and you wonder what kind of alien is going to reveal itself next. I enjoyed the narrative. The story is from Angie’s point of view, allowing you to navigate this new reality as she does. The storyline is quick paced and flows along smoothly with non stop action, intrigue, adventure, surprises, unexpected twists, constant danger and suspense. The dialogue is great and I enjoyed the interaction between the characters of the team. It is a well written story that I am sure those who enjoy science fiction would enjoy.

Another author succumbs to serialization
Angie Faust is an interesting heroine. Wade might be her love interest – the book doesn’t take them very far… The extraterrestrials are a motley crew, and it ain’t quite fer shur fer certain which of them are the good ETs and which ones are the Bad Guys, but (HINT) some spiders are your friends, and some “work friends” aren’t. Also – that old saying about if looks could kill? Well, yeah, maybe… I was enjoying Angie’s intro to multidimensional reality, sentient jewelry, and Death Dealing, right up un til the book stopped. Not ended, just STOPPED! Oh, &^%@(&@, it’s a freaking to-be-continued serial. The reader’s nemesis. I hate serials. They ruin my book day. But this is the beginning a good story, so I’ll hold my nose, give it 2.5 stars, and leave it alone until the box set comes out. BAH HUMBUG.
