By his own admission, Johan’s always been one stubborn bastard. He’s wedded to his freedom, and the thought of bonding with a dragon has some pretty serious downsides. If he doesn’t sign on to become magical, though, he’ll be left behind—also not an acceptable outcome.Distant relatives to dragons, sea-serpents are gaining strength shockingly fast. Breeding farms spring up on distant outposts, … distant outposts, spitting out all manner of evil. Banished eons ago by the dragon god, the serpents are making a comeback. As the dragons seek allies, they uncover still more atrocities.
Katya, dragon shifter and twin to the dragons’ prince, thought she wanted Johan as her mate, but he has more rough edges than she counted on. Besides, the serpent problem supersedes everything. She’s used to dragons being in charge, but when a serpent almost steals her will, it’s quite the wakeup call her magic isn’t as potent as she always assumed.
Is the age of dragons drawing to a close? If that’s true, what will come next?

The excitement and danger increases in this addition to the series. It’s Johan’s turn to decide if he really wants to bond with a dragon. Katya really wants him to, but he has to be able to share himself with his dragon 100%. Plus, there will not only be danger from the bonding, but the sea serpents too. They need to find allies to help fight. On the border worlds they will meet all kinds of shifters, including dinosaurs, agreeing to help. This is not going to be easy, but they are determined to rid the Earth and any other worlds they can of the serpents. This book has so much going on once you get started there really isn’t a good place to stop, so I had to finish it with only a nap in between. As always, Ms. Gimpel will keep you engaged and on the edge of your seat. I requested an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.
Not many good dragon themed novels out there lately with this series being one of the few. This will know how to wrap around you taking you on a journey you will be glad you did not miss. You are not only given dragons in this but other elements and specialities too. Sea serpents even though a problem are a rarity that you will quickly be delighted with the change in the direction giving different and not predictable. Kayta quickly will captivate you but so will whom is on her mind-Johan. They will with haste take you into their story and this world giving us their all. Besides devouring it which will also having you not wanting to leave so soon.
What an adventure! Book 2 pumps up the intensity even more and the battle of fire against ice is in full swing. This is fast paced and I was swept away in all the action-packed adventures. I love the way the introduction to the other borderworlds and their inhabitants is done in a very descriptive way which is so captivating and makes it all seem so real. This war is bigger than the dragons and I think the dragons, especially Katya, get a wake-up call, dragons are superior but not invincible. I also think what happened to her brings them closer as a team/couple as well as helps the dragons understand that their enemy is not weak and has mastered their trickery skills. I also think this challenge pushes them to make some critical decisions concerning the future and brings more understanding to the supernatural hierarchy to us mere humans, lol. Love this great series, great dragons! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author.
Cursed Ice, Ann Gimpel’s 2nd book in her Ice Dragons trilogy, picks up where the first left off and goes steam-rolling from there. There are plenty of new characters, including shifters from every corner of the imagination. The ugly sea-serpants from before have gotten down right nasty. There is danger at every turn and magic flying everywhere. The storyline remains fast-paced. The characters are well-developed. I can’t wait to see where book 3, and this war, takes us!
Pickups up after books 1 ends. In a way overlapping, since we are getting to see what Katy and Johan were up to. The four of them are trying to decide where to go from here and they end up finding so much more than they expected. There is a lot at stake, but they find some allies along the way. I really love watching this story unfold and can’t wait for book 3.
