Emily desperately wants a name for what she is. For what is changing her…. and so does the guy who hunts her.Emily learned early to keep her head down. After her mother was committed to a mental institution and Emily went to live with her aunt, there was no more talk of monsters and creatures from other worlds—or that Emily is one of them.Living a life of quiet solitude as a barista and … as a barista and waitress in New York City, Emily’s only complication is her unabashed best friend, and that’s the way she likes it.
Until the day something shifts in her blood.
It might have something to do with the alluring man who strolled into her coffee shop in the dead of night, the one who sent shivers under her skin unrelated to supernatural stirrings.
Or, that’s what she hopes, since it’s more preferable than the shape-shifting eyes and growing fangs she keeps seeing in people she knows.
As Emily learns that her world has been infected by fae that consume human souls and fit seamlessly into the bodies they empty, she must also accept that she could be one of them.
Yet, she is different from the rest, because her fae didn’t inhabit her, it was awakened.
And it wants her to succumb … to her destiny.
Too bad that cute guy from the coffee shop was sent to kill her before she reaches it.

Book review of Cursed Fae by Sarah Tobias
I received this as an Advance reader copy with the hopes I would review it.
This was a good book. It was well written and had great characters. It started slow but picked up to reveal an interesting plot and great story.
Glad I took a chance.
This story has an original twist to traditional fae stories and being the first book published by this author, I think she did a great job. I will definitely read the rest of this trilogy.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am volontarily leaving a review.
This is a cool and interesting paranormal fantasy. I liked it. It is spooky and magical, has drama and suspense.

This is the start of the exciting Dark Thirst Series where the main character, Emily, finds out that she is very different from the person she thought she was. As she learns that her world has completely changed and has been infected by Fae that consume human souls and occupy the bodies they empty, she realizes she might be one of them. Her mother had been committed to a mental institution but had screamed that Emily was never supposed to live and that she was an abomination as she attacked her but always failed to kill her! But something is changing and unlike the other monsters, she was not inhabited by the Fae but rather “awakened”, which makes her unique! With the realization that she is in danger and being hunted, the last of her kind, where will she turn for safety? Who can she trust? And who is Asher – what does he want from her?
Emily is a strong heroine that the reader is drawn to. There is a mystery here and empathy for the way Emily’s world is turned upside-down as she has to deal with her sudden realizations that the monsters of her childhood do exist. Grab your copy and enjoy a different kind of adventure!
Darkly intense with more fangs, claws, and grim reality than your typical fae-centered books. These fae are invasive and decidedly deadly.
Emily, our level-headed mc, learns her world is a lot more heinous in terms of the supernatural than she previously believed. First, she’s not completely human and, secondly, she’s in danger and perhaps a danger to those around her.
I like her character. She is strong in a not-so-cookie-cutter way. The one thing I don’t like is her mysterious connection (if it’s a connection–not so sure what it is) with Asher. I don’t particular like Asher or his sister (I want a fae to eat her and be done with it). I don’t ship/want Emily to get with him later on.
The only other character I liked was Derek–which is likely to be a tragic mistake on my part.
I’m not sure if I’ll read the next book. I like the story but I don’t like the idea of Emily/Asher, so I’m conflicted.
Overall, Cursed Fae is well-written and has an intriguing plot. A lot of readers will love this book.
