The night Claire Tanith’s small village is attacked, her mother sends her alone into the cursed forest, the one she’d been forbidden to enter all her life with these mysterious words: ‘They will protect you.’On the run from her attackers, she soon finds the forest is not as abandoned as she’d once thought.Beautiful and elegant, the elves seem to be everything the legends said they would be. But … they would be. But legends sometimes forget the true history of things and Claire’s eyes are soon opened to a world she never knew. One that has been kept from her for most of her life. All Claire wants to do is return home and start looking for her mother, the only family she ever had. But the elves have different plans. The mysterious mark that appeared on her arm isn’t a curse, at least not to them anyway, and before she knows it, she is whisked away on a mission she never agreed to, unless they help her in return.
Now she is stuck on an adventure with the perverted elf, Aeron, and one with an attitude, Farron. But there is more to this adventure than she’d ever hoped for.

A refreshing change from the norm. Great world building, characters you really get to know and loads of adventures. I am currently reading the second book.
Claire leads a sheltered home life as a bar maid living with her mom who owns a bar. Her mother has kept her sheltered, taught her very little about the outside world, and doesn’t let her stray very far. One night her village is attacked by Centaurs and Claire’s mother makes a decision that turns her life upside down. She leads her into the Forbidden Forrest and sets her loose, on her own, and tells her to run. She promises they will meet again, but that “they” will protect her, and then she turns away from Claire and draws the Centaurs away. Having no other option, Claire is chased into the Forrest by a Centaur and soon runs into Elves. The only thing that saves her is a mark that shows up on her hand, which one of the Elves spots. After saving her, they take her to their King, and she soon sets out with two Elves on a mission upon which she is not privy to. They give her no information about her new mark, nor do they tell her about her mission. But she soon learns there was once a Great War between humans and elves over the Land and Magic, which she was not aware even existed until that point. She realizes just how sheltered her life really was. She is more determined than ever to find her mom. The two elves promise to help her in return for her help. Farron and Aeron, the Elves, set out with Claire as her Guards and allies. Along the way, she sees more towns that have been just as destroyed as hers. She begins to learn to fight with training from Aeron, and Farron seems determined to keep her safe from all danger. Including from the General Bren, who has decided to follow along on their adventure for a time. Farron senses he cannot be trusted so they make up fake aliases and travel plans. Unfortunately, Claire seems to be falling for General Bren. She is too trusting and too innocent after having been sheltered her whole life, and Bren plays into it by playing the shining Knight. This novel brings adventure, mystery, intrigue. By the end of this book, so much had happened to Claire, that I could not believe she was able to trust a single person (or Elf) again. I cannot wait to see what happens!!
IMAGINE A SILVER-HAIRED ELF, MYSTERIOUS IN NATURE AND DRESSED IN BLACK LIKE THE SHADOWS WHERE HE FEELS AT HOME…
Now, add to this a young barmaid whose whole world is turned upside down during an attack on her village. Forced to flee into the woods into the hands of the Elves living there. With the appearance of a mysterious mark on her right arm, her life changes dramatically. In Cursed, Claire, Aeron, and Farron embark on their quest to find out what the mark means and why it appeared on Claire’s arm. Claire only wants to find her mother, and Farron does allow her some leeway to search for her. It does not take Claire to get into trouble, and as she thinks she is escaping from prison, she stumbles into a life-threatening situation. She uses her newly discovered magic to survive and is saved by Farron and taken to a Haven to heal.
In Awakened, we pick up where Farron and Claire are on their way to Farron’s mother. They are ambushed by Lianna, an old flame of Farrons and mistress to his brother, the King of Derenan. Claire is taken to the palace, and Farron is left to fight for his life. In the palace, Claire learns about what she is and how to master her magic. She meets Razi, another star-child from the dessert. It does not take long for Farron to make his way to the palace and Claire, where he desperately wants to take Claire away from the power-hungry people of the Council. Claire wants to protect Farron and, in the process, constantly pushes him away. She pledges herself to the King, and he sends her on a mission to find the remaining star children.
This is where Entrapped begins; Claire and Farron and a group of the King’s guards set out on their mission to find the star children. Claire is confronted by Bahkar, who wants her for himself to add her power to his. She meets the Syndicate and their hospitality in person. She discovers a device that can disguise her magic that Lianna and Razi cannot track her. AS always, a battle ensues, and she has to use her magic to help Farron and Razi fight Centaurs and other beasts. In the end, Razi takes her back to the palace, once again leaving Farron miles away from her.
Consumed starts where Claire once again leaves the palace of Derenan on a mission; she has to go to Uru Baya to try and find out what she is and how to stop her magic from consuming her. She leaves Farron’s horse for him at the Haven and slowly travels on. Farron reaches her, and together they make their way to Uru Baya.
From there, they set out to restore magic to the land. They face beasts-of-old, harsh climates and fanatic Syndicate members to complete their mission. They need to seek old allies and escape old enemies to reach their goal, all while Claire hides a crucial fact from Farron, which he discovers too late…(No spoilers)
This book was a different take on the werewolf legend.
Loved the world-building and the characters. A bit of humor and light fantasy in this enchanting tale. I do want to read the rest of the series.
The pace is so fast that you will find yourself several chapters in and it has gotten dark outside. Remember to eat and other human things because this will suck you in.
Good Characters.
Some books grab you from the get-go this one didn’t do it for me. Not saying it’s not a good book just saying it’s not my speed.
Loved this book, bought the next one as soon as I had finished it, only part way through, it’s had to put down but one has to eat and sleep
I love it so much! It’s so different and the characters are fun. I will be reading the rest for books after I’m done with this one.
This book caught me enough for me to buy the two others in this series. Good read from beginning to end.
Loved the book. Need to read the rest of them just haven’t had time yet!!!
I kept hoping that it would get better. Interesting and imaginative but depressing.
I really like the main characters. They were developed well. The plot was interesting and believable. This author had me hooked from the beginning. I couldn’t put it down.
It’s about a young girl becoming a hero and saving the world.
I look forward to reading the next book.
It’s a clean read. Very little profanity and only kissing scenes
I enjoyed the first book and then ended up buying the rest in the books series.
First of all, I very rarely give 5 stars. Every story could be improved. Then again, if a story does not come to a conclusion, I deduct at least 1star for being incomplete. As a writer, I have always brought a story to a conclusion, happily or otherwise. This is a part of a series that requires the reader get the next book and perhaps even that will not reach the conclusion. Otherwise, it is well written. The heroine is the mystery and embedded in layers of mystery and that is compelling, even if she can’t seem make her mind up about the male characters. That seems just a little contrived, but then what young woman knows exactly what she wants, especially romantically, at such a young age (or for that matter exactly what anyone wants at any age)?
I like the story but the writing style bothered me a little
