If you’d asked me a week ago, I would have told you that the best cupcakes were dark chocolate with chocolate cream cheese icing, that dancing in a crowd of magic wielders — the Adept — was better than sex, and that my life was peaceful and uneventful. Just the way I liked it. That’s what twenty-three years in the magical backwater of Vancouver will get you — a completely skewed sense of … reality. Because when the dead werewolves started showing up, it all unraveled … except for the cupcake part. That’s a universal truth.

I love this book series. It has a really wonderful cast of characters that are funny and witty, but also very normal and down to earth for a paranormal read. Every time she has a new one come out I want to read it right away to see what else is going to happen.
Best series – “Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic (Dowser Series Book 1). Everyone should read this. It’s by Meghan Ciana Doidge.
I took advantage of the weekend’s rain by staying inside and reading Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic – a story of a young twenty-something bakery-owner discovering her magical potential. While the twists weren’t very surprising and I had the villain picked out fairly quickly, it was fun as a quick, fairly fluffy, summer read. Not sure …
This was a pretty good read, but not compelling enough to want to read more of the series.
this whole series is enjoyable, easy to read, original (as far as I know), magical cupcakes and trinkets, a world full of magical creatures and magic users who are trying hard to fit in.
Wasn’t sure about reading this initially, I think it may have been the title of the book that didn’t grab me, but I loved every minute of it and bought the rest of the series. It’s not going to tax you intellectually – the title should give that away, but it’s a wonderful easy read with great characters and it’s really well written. If you’re …
While I did guess the plot rather early, the book is nevertheless well written and enjoyable to read, with interesting relationships between the main characters … I look forward to reading the next in the series
First read was in 2015. This was my second read and I still enjoyed it.
What a delicious read that includes descriptions of sensuous cupcakes. But the story’s really about a 23 year old half witch, half human or is she? I know that you are turned into witches. But don’t forget the vampire, and the shifters that turn into werewolves. Why because they believe Jade the half witch is somehow connected to a sting of …
I loved this book; I’ve read the whole 9 book series countless times and enjoy them every time. The author creates real and relatable characters with little ticks and quarks that you can relate to and develops her characters so well throughout the series. I recommend any of her series, but this book is how it all starts: with cupcakes and …
The first sample is free, little girl.
Damn and blast, but I have to read the rest in this series.
After book 1 I am already attached to the main character and her band of friends. I can’t wait to read book 2.
I received this delicious story as a gift. I tore through it in one sitting and immediately upon finishing bought the rest of the series. Jade is a bit naïve but likeable. Vampire Kett is just creepy enough and Alpha Desmond is annoying. This book tells of Jades introduction to her future and rips the shades off her past. I loved it and am diving …
Doidge has a lot of fun with the reader in this first book of her Dowser series, playing with the urban fantasy tradition of mixing romance with the genre to set the reader up for some very big surprises. In doing so she creates a vibrant setting mixing witches, werewolves, vampires and other supernatural creatures. Her heroine, Jade, is an …
Lots o fun
The story is a nice short read of about 250 pages. The ending is predictable (and a little deus ex machina, though not entirely) and you’ll probably figure out whodunit by about halfway through (the evidence is easy to find).
It took me a while to get into the book and to like the main character. She is a bit bland and annoyingly naive. She never …
I loved this book as well as the whole series
This book was exactly what I was looking for. I love urban fantasy. The characters were great. It had humor and action. I bought the rest of the series and read them all in a month.
Wonderful author! Will be reading the rest of the series!! Thank you for sharing your imagination as well as your delicious recipes!
just so much fun to read!
