Annie Graceland’s a baker with a pinch of psychic ability—she can see and talk to ghosts. Much to her dismay, they also talk back—nagging her incessantly to solve their murders. Annie’s mom signs her up to be a judge at Wisconsin’s Hot Guys’ Contest. When the hometown Hot Guy is killed and doesn’t pass to the Afterlife, he begs her to investigate his murder. Now she’s meddling with a motley crew … motley crew of murder suspects. It doesn’t help that Detective Jamie Ryan, a boy from Annie’s past, is all grown up, sexy as sin, and determined to make her fall for him.
Annie’s about to discover that going back home can be sweet as frosting or worse than a cake wreck. The temperature’s rising at the Hot Guys’ Contest…

Another win for Annie Graceland cozy mysteries! I read this as part of a 4-box set I downloaded. I initially reviewed the first in the series, and have to say this one was even better. Crazy characters and even crazier (but laugh out loud) situations – so much fun! As far as mysteries go, this was pretty decent with many different options as far as who was suspicious and why. Easily read in a few hours. Stories 2 & 4 in the set were novellas – easily read in a short sitting, but also funny. Really stuck on these characters and plan to keep up with this series – it’s like crossing the “ghost whisperer” with Stephanie Plum’s crazy world. Instead of having a “Lula” or “Grandma Mazur” you have Julia and Grady – equally as dysfunctional and endearing. 🙂
I love this series!
I loved the cast of characters. It was funny, yet heartwarming as friend Frank worked through his new status as a ghost stuck between earth and the heavens. Mother daughter relations were hilarious and protagonists interesting. I love her books. Thank you and I will be watching for More…
This is a fun, easy read with a little mystery too.
Kind of silly, but a good read to relax before falling asleep.
