From the New York Times bestselling author, K. Bromberg, comes a new standalone in her Everyday Heroes world that proves true love will always stand the test of time. “I hate you. I never want to see you again.”Grant Malone is not the reason I moved back to Sunnyville—at least that’s what I tell myself. Yet, those parting words I said to him back in third grade, ring in my ears every time a … third grade, ring in my ears every time a townsperson brings up one of the Malone boys. I thought time had healed my wounds. I was wrong. Nothing could have prepared me for how I felt when I finally saw him again.
Twenty years does a lot to turn a boy into a man. One who hits all my buttons—sexy, funny, attractive, and a police officer. But Grant is off limits because he knows too much about my past.
But I’m drawn to him. That damn uniform of his doesn’t hurt either. It’ll be my downfall. I know it.
What’s one night of sex going to hurt . . . right?

I’ve always loved Emmy Reeves.
That’s why I’m shocked to see her all these years later. The shy girl I once knew is all grown up.
Adventurous and full of life, she owns my heart now, just as much as she did back then. Convincing her of that is a whole different story.
I’ll give her the one night she asks for—like that’s a hardship—but when it comes to letting her walk away after, she has another thing coming. There’s no way in hell I’m letting her go this time without a fight.

Sometimes a hero comes from the most unlikely of places. In New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg’s new series Everyday Heroes, she brings us sexy real life heroes. The series focuses on the Malone brothers, their heroic professions and the women who make it difficult for these men to save them. The first book, Cuffed is about a sexy officer that wanted to be a hero long before he began upholding the law.
Best friends until a broken pinky promise in the third grade, Grant Malone and Emerson “Emmy” Reeves haven’t seen each other in twenty years. Moving back to Sunnyville after all these years, Emmy isn’t prepared to face Grant, the man whose broken promise once destroyed everything in her life. She holds a hatred for him and his betrayal, but she also longs for the friendship they used to have. He appears determined to put himself in her life in a way that she cannot ignore. Soon she finds it hard to resist his charm. She convinces herself that one night with him won’t hurt. After all it’s just one night what could possibly come from it.
Grant has always loved Emmy and now that she’s back and all grown up, he insinuates himself in her life in the hopes that she will forgive him and give them a chance. One night with her won’t be a hardship, but he’s not going to let her go as easily as she would like. When her past comes back to haunt her, he’ll have to work even harder to prove he’s there for her and that he is what she needs.
Emmy was such a fun adventurous character. She lived life to the fullest while battling the monsters in her past. The book is told with snippets from the past that slowly give us the full story of what happened twenty years before. Trust me when I say you don’t want to read this without a box of Kleenex handy. If the emotionally churning story isn’t enough to draw you in, I should remind you that there’s a hot cop!! Grant is sexy, but he is also tough at the right times. He was Emmy’s hero long before she realized it. He is just so swoon worthy!!
This is a story of broken promises, forgiveness, friendship and second chances. Not only is there a second chance for them to fall in love, but there is a second chance to rekindle the friendship that was lost. I cannot wait to read Grayson and Grady’s stories! I need more heroes in my life. Yet another FIVE star read from Kristy!!!
5+ Stars
WOW!! Where do I start? K. Bromberg always finds away to make me fall in love with her characters and feel every emotion possible. I laughed, cried, and fell head over hills for these two. There is so much to this story than just a second chance at romance. It’s so raw, so emotional, yet so beautiful all in one. Cuffed is so well written when you have all the feels while reading and worth so many more stars than just 5.
Cuffed is the first book in the Everyday Heroes Series about 3 brothers, the job that calls them, and the women who challenge them. Oh, I can’t wait for the other books in this series!! I am so invested in this family and these brothers.
This is an absolute MUST READ!!!
Happy Reading Everyone!!!
What a great second chance romance. There were so many emotions in this book. Emerson drove me crazy with how she treated Grant at times. But with understanding I was able to see why she acted the way she did. Loved Grant and his hero complex! Looking forward to reading more in this series.
CUFFED is the first instalment in K. Bromberg’s contemporary adult EVERYDAY HEROES romance series focusing on the Malone brothers: Grant, Grayson and Grady Malone. This is police officer Grant Malone, and skydiving instructor Emerson ‘Emmy’ Reeves’ story line.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Emerson and Grant) using present day and memories from the past, CUFFED follows the rebuilding relationship between childhood friends Grant Malone, and Emerson Reeves. At the age of eight years old Grant Malone lost his best friend Emerson Reeves when secrets behind closed doors forced our hero to find a way to save the little girl he would always love. Fast forward twenty years wherein Emerson Reeves returns to Sunnyville in an attempt to start her own business-Blue Skies-a business that is currently struggling but available for sale. But for Emerson Reeves a return to Sunnyville also means a return of the long forgotten memories and pain of a time long ago-memories our heroine has buried along with her past. Enter Grant Malone, Sunnyville’s resident ‘sexy copy’, and the man Emerson blames for everything that went wrong. What ensues is the rebuilding but struggling relationship between two people whose lives went in different directions twenty years earlier.
Grant Malone’s reputation as a player precedes his re-introduction to our story line heroine but Emerson Reeves emotions and anger towards our story line hero are predicated on an eight year old child’s inability to deal with events that no eight year old child should ever endure. For close to twenty years Emerson has placed the blame on her nomadic lifestyle on the actions of an eight year old boy- a boy whose love and friendship with Emerson meant protecting the little girl at all costs. The focus of the story looks at one woman’s past, and her need to act out and strike at the young boy, now a man, who
The relationship between Emerson and Grant is one of second chances; of a friendship destroyed by mistaken beliefs, time and distance; of one young girl’s horrific past and the buried memories of what happened and why. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are introduced to Grant’s siblings: Firefighter Grady, and rescue pilot Grayson Malone; their parents retired police Chief Malone and his wife Betsy; Grant’s partner on the force Officer Nate; Emerson’s best friend Desi Whitman; Blue Skies jump coordinator Leo, and loan officer Chris Severson.
CUFFED is an emotional and heartbreaking story; a second chance for two people whose loved and lost so much more than a schoolyard friend. The premise is sexy, edgy and powerful; the characters are passionate and real; the romance is sensual and energetic. K. Bromberg invites the read into an intimate story of friendship and family; moving forward and letting go.
I have no idea how I haven’t read K. Bromberg before. Have I been living under a rock? Well, I am about to remedy that shortly by reading every single book that she has written!
Cuffed is the story of Grant, the sexy cop with a heart of gold, and Emmy, the girl with the soul of a gypsy and a tragic past. Best friends before a horrific events tore them apart, they need to find forgiveness in each other to move on from their pasts.
This story was heartbreaking yet hopeful at the same time. It was beautifully written by Ms. Bromberg. Speaking of which, please read the note at the end. It will make you appreciate the story even more.
I went into Cuffed expecting a sexy, light read and I couldn’t have been more wrong. It was touching and poignant with just a dash of the sexy thrown in to give the story a little brevity. A must read for new and old K. Bromberg fans alike.
Grant Malone and Emmerson Reeves were childhood friends. Emmerson moves away when they are in 3rd grade.
You know from the beginning that there is an underlining reason as to why Emmerson moved. It kept me intrigued trying to discover what it was and when I found out I was heartsick for her.
The more Grant and Emmerson reconnect the more she remembers and relives her past which is so hard for her. I just wanted to reach into the book and give her a big hug.
Grant carries a lot of guilt from breaking his childhood promise to Emmerson. He has to learn to let that go or he’s going to push her away.
I just want to say that Grant became my hero when he went into the bank and dealt with that sleazy loan officer.
This is a book that just kept getting better the more you read. When I finished the last sentence my thought was ‘what a great book’. The author did an amazing job on a very tough topic. It was heartfelt and very emotional.
Cuffed is a book that will have you pull an all nighter to finish reading it. I knew Officer Malone was going to be my favorite book guy. From the beginning to the end he was always the one who needed to save the world. You find out his demons and vulnerability which makes you want to reach out and give him a hug. Through and through what he does is for the best, but sometimes it is not what is right for those he loves. I get it now.
Cuffed was such an emotional read. I went through a whole Kleenex box with this book. My heart shattered a dozen times over. Kristy puts these words together and you can not help but feel what everyone else is feeling. Being scared and terrified of the unknown. Knowing that there are monsters out there in the dark. I cried for the broken, and I cried for the innocent. I love Emmy and knew she was not only a survivor, but a fighter. With Grant by her side, she would overcome her past.
The reunion for Emmy and Grant was unconventional. I was left thinking, “What just happened?” I loved Emmy’s friend Desi. She has no filter! The Malone brothers are all alpha and ready to protect and serve. I can not wait to read about them in the upcoming books. The sexy scenes were not only scorching hot, but it brings out so many feels. Cuffed was not what I was expecting. It was so much more. As I write my review, my heart and emotions lay on me heavily. Cuffed will give you every feel your body can handle. It will bring you hope and it will remind you we can all overcome the dark. Cuffed is my top book to close out 2017 with. I can not recommended this book enough!
