#1 New York Times bestselling author Patricia Briggs presents the first Alpha and Omega novel—the start of an extraordinary series set in Mercy Thompson’s world, but with rules of its own…Anna never knew werewolves existed until the night she survived a violent attack…and became one herself. After three years at the bottom of the pack, she’d learned to keep her head down and never, ever trust … down and never, ever trust dominant males. But Anna is that rarest kind of werewolf: an Omega. And one of the most powerful werewolves in the country is about to recognize her value as a pack member—and as his mate.

Anything Patricia Briggs writes is well done. She builds the characters so her books can be stand alone as well sequenced.
Love this author and the Alpha and Omega series. Wonderful characters and love the energy between Charles and Anna. Wish this world really exists.
Great book, you will understand more if you read “Aloha and Omega” first. Quite a few books in these series now. Also will have mores connections if you read the Mercy Thompson series. Characters mention each other and show up in the other series sometimes.
Great follow up to the novella that started their story
Another view of the Mercy Thompson universe that fills in some gaps in the overall story arc.
As a huge fan of the Mercy Thompson series, I was interested in checking out this series. Anna and Charles start the series by subverting several urban fantasy tropes: being a happily married and committed couple. Sadly, Anna has a truly horrifying backstory of being abused by her previous pack and this may make a lot of readers uncomfortable.
Either way, the pair of them are sent to a gathering of werewolf leaders and soon find themselves involved in a murder mystery with Arthurian undertones. I suggest that readers start with the ALPHA AND OMEGA: A COMPANION NOVEL TO CRY WOLF because it eases readers a bit more into the universe. Really, I think it should all be one novel. This is set in the Mercy Thompson world and makes numerous references to characters from it, so should probably be read after reading at least a couple of those books too, IMHO.
Anna and Charles are a fun couple and I’m glad Patricia Briggs wrote this series as it really gets into the nitty gritty of the world that our favorite werecoyote’s books don’t.
Great series of paranormal adventures. I would recommend the whole series. Each book develops the characters deeper. I have enjoyed the story line and how it draws of folklore.
Patricia Briggs always delivers – she’s on my automatic buy list, regardless of the book!
If you are looking for a romance, with a mystery, and good triumphing over evil, that is steeped in werewolf lore, and well written, this is a great series for you. There is a prequel novella called “Alpha and Omega: A Companion Novella” that was helpful to read first and I would recommend doing so. Anna is an Omega wolf who was attacked by a crazed werewolf in the Chicago pack. Abused and mistreated by her last pack, she finally gets out with the help of the Marrok’s son, Charles, whose wolf has claimed her as his mate. Moving to Montana to reside with the Marrok’s pack, Charles and Anna must overcome her past and learn what it is like to care for each other. And as an Omega, Anna has an integral role in the pack as someone who can calm their volatile wolves. The plot had dark moments, delving into dark witches and what it takes to become one. The villain was evil and there were moments that were a little hard to read because of how disturbing the individual was, but it all added to the stakes in a beautiful way.
Cry Wolf picks up right where the novella Alpha & Omega left off. I recommend reading that one first, or you might feel a little lost at the beginning. Anna and Charles are new to the mates’ thing, but I can tell that I will enjoy their escapades.

Love this series

I love this book and this author. If I could give it esore tars I would.
I enjoy Patricia Briggs writing. Charles and Anna are two of my favorites.
This book was my introduction to the Mercy Thompson world and I didn’t realize it at first. I’d heard about that series for quite a while, but hesitated to start it because it consists of so many books. Often a series that long just isn’t as good toward the end. However, this story about Anna and Charles was so well written and so engaging that I am hooked and have since dived into the start of the Mercy novels. After d0wnloading the series reading order, I’m pleased to see how this series (Alpha and Omega) dovetails with the Mercy series, along with several short stores. If you like well-written stories about werewolves, and compelling characters with plenty of drama and action, this one’s for you! I couldn’t put it down.
starts out tragic, but the end is happily ever after
patricia briggs = you can’t go wrong, at least i haven’t so far
if there were other things to read that didn’t sound as interesting, i woud re-read this
my husband agrees
I have read Patricia Briggs for a long time and anytime she comes out with a new one I grab it up. If you love werewolves and supernaturals this is one that you want to read, as well as ANYTHING Ms. Briggs writes!!!
I have loved all f Patricia Briggs novels.
700 stars. I’ve read this book 8 times. Maybe 9. One of my most favorite books and most favorite series EVER.
I like the Mercy Thompson world and by introducing these characters, the author can go in directions that perhaps she couldn’t with Mercy.
