#1 New York Times bestselling author Patricia Briggs presents the first Alpha and Omega novel—the start of an extraordinary series set in Mercy Thompson’s world, but with rules of its own…Anna never knew werewolves existed until the night she survived a violent attack…and became one herself. After three years at the bottom of the pack, she’d learned to keep her head down and never, ever trust … down and never, ever trust dominant males. But Anna is that rarest kind of werewolf: an Omega. And one of the most powerful werewolves in the country is about to recognize her value as a pack member—and as his mate.

I’ve loved this series since I came upon a battered copy of the original anthology containing the Alpha and Omega novella in my second-hand bookstore. Charles and Anna haunted me from the get-go. I love the way they’ve stumbled through a relationship neither expected, nor were they willing to give it up. I cannot recommend this series highly enough!
Love all her books.
Another fabulous series from Patricia Briggs. This is a spin-off from the Mercedes Thompson, but gives more insight into side characters from the Mercy series. I love being able to see more from them. This series focuses more on romance than Mercy’s world, but it still delivers a solid story. I love the hero and heroine and find their story super endearing.
***Content warning: there is a sex scene. I’d said it’s about a PG-13 level. Not graphic and easily skippable, if you don’t want to read it.
I really enjoy Charle’s character throughout the Brigg’s Alpha and Omega series. This was my favorite she did because it encompassed so many complex emotions rarely seen in a strong male lead of the romance genre.
“4 out of 5 stars. I wasn’t sure at first how I would like this world and it’s characters but as soon as I started reading the book I couldn’t put it down. Great setting … I liked how you can every point of view so the story is that much more believable!!”

I love all of Patricia Briggs books. She doesn’t write a bad one.
I liked the Mercy Thompson books, never had read these. Was happy to see this one at a discount so picked it up. Wasn’t disappointed and greatly enjoyed it.
Fantastic series. I always buy her books!
Addictive series.
Loved it
I’ve been reading this series and several other of her series love the books
Loved this book
Everything this lady writes is brilliant, sure she could write a cornflake packet and make it unputdownable!!
This wasn’t what I expected. This is the first novel that I have read by Patricia Briggs. This has been on and off of my TBR list. It’s just one of those books that sounds good sometimes but bad at others. So this and Moon Called have been this way for a while and I finally went to my local library in what’s been forever (3 months, 16 days, 5 hours, 10 minutes, and 23 seconds). I made up that count but it’s close. I just like being dramatic.
I picked this up with Moon Called last Monday. I’m glad I did. The romance wasn’t the main part of the story and I liked both H and h. The story had it’s faults but I still like it. I plan on getting the second book on my next visit. I will probably start Moon Called sometime soon but you know other books I had grab are more enticing.
I loved it
Patricia Brigs does such an amazing job – I love every one of her books – I especially love that the theme is not “claiming his mate” – instead, she focuses on plot, on the ins and outs of a world a bit different than ours but full of adventure and characters that undergo change and mature into their lives and challenges. Action and a plot with characters with character.
I like Patricia Briggs as an author. Cry Wolf begins one of her series. I enjoyed everything about the book.
I really loved the action between Charles and Anna..awesome book..love the whole series
This is a great series. Mercy Thompson is a refreshing character and you can’t help but cheer for her.
4 stars – It was really good
FYI, while this is the first book in the Alpha & Omega series I highly recommend reading the prequel novella, Alpha & Omega. It is the true beginning of Anna and Charles’ story and this book picks up the day after that novella ends.
Anna and Charles are newly mated and are still getting to know each other. Anna is struggling to deal with her PTSD from the frequent abuse from her old pack. Before they can get a few days alone, Charles is sent into the mountains to hunt a rogue wolf. This isn’t any normal rogue though.
Anna and Charles have a lot of things to work out in their relationship. Anna is struggling to cope with being mated and in a new town and house. She barely knows Charles but she feels safe with him, even if her trauma causes her to feel fear. While we see some work on their relationship in this book, it wasn’t as much as I was expecting. Also while Anna does help with the rogue wolf and witch situation, she doesn’t really feel like the main focus in this book. The focus was more on Charles, and on stopping the wolf and witch.
In this book, we get to learn a lot about Charles, his father, and Asil, who is a pack member. Charles is a lot more than just his father’s killer but that status makes him feared by everyone. He is used to being alone because of this. I really enjoyed getting to know more about him and his father the Marrok. Bran is always so aloof and strong, but in this book we are reminded that he is still just a man and can be felled. Asil, also known as the Moor, is a very fascinating character who I instantly liked. His history was very sad but he does finally have some peace.
Another thing I enjoyed about this book (and series), is that it is dual POV. In the Mercy Thompson series, we only really get Mercy’s point of view, so it is nice to finally have both characters’ reactions to the events, especially since there are some relationship barriers in this one.
Trigger Warnings: Anna was beaten and raped repeatedly. She was also turned against her will.
