Lady Selene Ravenwood has come into her full power as a dreamwalker just as the war with the Dominia Empire begins. Working with the other Great Houses, Selene and Damien use their gifts to secure the borders and save those devastated by the war. But conflict, betrayal, and hatred begin to spread between the Great Houses, destroying their unity as the empire burns a path across their lands. At … the same time, Damien Maris starts to lose his ability to raise the waters, leaving the lands vulnerable to the empire’s attacks.
The only one who can unite the houses and restore her husband’s power is Selene Ravenwood. But it will require that she open her heart to those who have hurt her and let go of her past, despite the one who hunts her and will do anything to stop her power.
Will Selene survive? Or is she destined to fall like the dreamwalkers before her?

Fantasy novels are not at the top of my preferred reading list but I will always make an exception for those by Morgan L. Busse. While definitely fantasy, her tales are not so extreme that it takes them out of the realm of what seems possible.
I love the almost medieval settings of The Ravenwood Saga and the idea of various kingdoms, each with their own giftings – giftings meant to work together for the good of all followers of the Light. I have thoroughly enjoyed following Lady Selene Ravenwood and her husband Damien Maris as they work together with the other Great Houses to save them from the evil Dominia Empire.
Cry of the Raven is the final installment of this wonderful series and lived up to my expectations and more. With plenty of action and moments that made me hold my breath, the plot moved at a brisk pace to its exciting and satisfying conclusion. While remaining true to the fantasy genre, the author expertly illustrated the power of the Holy Spirit against the darkness for those who embrace the Lord. A powerful example of personal transformation and believers working together using their God given gifts, Cry of the Raven as well as the previous two books of this series will remain in my memory for a long time.

In Cry of the Raven, power couple Selene and Damien return. And this time, they’re fighting for the people.
Morgan L. Busse has written a trilogy that captured me from the first pages of the first book and, while it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, the finale is even more captivating than the previous books.
Storylines that began in the first book are picked up in Cry of the Raven and I enjoyed learning more about the different gifts of each of the houses and the way they come together to fight for freedom. The continued theme of light versus darkness is also prevalent.
While all of that is happening, there’s a much deeper and heartfelt message about trusting God in our valleys. Not only trusting ourselves to him but trusting those we love to him and believing that even while we are grieving the difficult losses, God is in control.
With this powerful and memorable trilogy concluded, I am excited to find out what Busse has in store for readers next.

A strong conclusion to a powerful saga. I loved seeing Selene and Damien come into the fullness of their powers, their leadership, and their relationship. House secrets are exposed, surprising alliances are formed, and action-packed battle sequences kept me glued to my seat. In the midst of all the tension, there are tender, romantic moments and a sweet conclusion to a terrific fantasy series. I was thrilled when all the story lines offered closure, the Light was continuously celebrated, and I was filled with hope as I turned the final page.
