Cruising for Love: The Escape Series, Book Two was a great read by Ann Omasta. Ruthie has been selected for a new reality television show which is a dream come true for her. She doesn’t read the fine print of the contract before she signs the contract. The TV show is filmed on a cruise ship and many surprises happen that no one expects. Her stylist Sal is the only person that she can rely on. I loved reading this story and can’t wait to read more by Ann Omasta.
Cruising for Love (Escape #2), my twenty-fourth read from author Ann Omasta. Another, entertaining, and well-written HEA read from her (as narrator the author does a wonderful job). I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. Now on to Island Hopping (Escape #3). (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Reality TV is my guilty pleasure. After reading this book, I feel extra guilty about it now. I love a second chance, so I was particularly excited to see one of those hiding in Ruthie’s story. This book is filled with twists, surprises, and lots of funny moments. Unfortunately, it’s also got a heavy Mean Girl vibe that I wasn’t really a fan of. However, I adore the way the story wraps up – it’s perfectly Ruthie.
If you like reality TV, this story is for you. I really felt for Ruthie. She seems a little like the girl next door but with a wild unpredictable streak. She seems naive, maybe like the ditzy blonde she had been talking about. As a result, she is continually surprised by what the show is all about and thrust into some interesting circumstances.
Ann Omasta did a wonderful job narrating.
I recieved a free Audible copy of this story in exchange for a honest review.

I cannot even begin to say how much I enjoyed this book. It could be the nostalgia I feel for the TV show the Love Boat, and how I always dreamed of love matches being made with Captain Steubing running the ship. But I think in this case, it’s the story Ann Omasta has crafted around an internet reality show with characters you love and love to hate! Ruthie takes the contract of being on the show without reading the fine print. What she encounters on the ship is surprising, humiliating, fascinating, you name it and it’s there! The story is funny, fast paced, full of twists and turns, and of course love. I could not stop listening, waiting to see what would happen next and loved the way it all ended. And it set me up to want to hear the next episode of this story! I can’t wait! Ann Omasta narrates the book too, so we get to hear it all exactly as she intended. She is quite the talent and I look for her releases!

Ruthie appears to have the worst luck, but all that looks to change when she gets an offer for a reality tv show however it is all downhill from there! There are so many lol and cringe worthy moments you will have no choice but to literally laugh out loud with what Ruthie goes through. The characters are great and well developed so you really feel like you go through what Ruthie does. I thought the whole story was great and the ending wow did not see that coming, a good few wee twists were thrown in towards the end that really top off this book.
Truth is better than reality(tv): Is Ruthie really ready for reality stardom?
3.5-4stars
It took me until the last fourth of the story to really warm up to Ruthie, the heroine who was a key secondary character in Getting Lei’d, the previous romance in the series. Ruthie is coerced and badly treated by the production company that chooses her for their new couples reality show, but, really, she let it happen. The Cruising for Love reality show did not grab me as I thought it might and what happened to the bulk of the ship passengers? They are mysteriously MIA when Ruthie and the reality cast are moving about the cruise ship! I liked the earlier romance for her sister Roxy better.
The writing flows well and makes it an easy read. The romantic overtures progress to fourth base pretty fast. I found the rapidity and depth of their connection a bit unrealistic even though they knew each other as teens. Ruthie’s grand, unrequited love does not really jive with her behavior in Getting Lei’d.
My favorite part of the story is the ending, after Ruthie’s zany Grandma Baggy hits the deck and the reality show goes rogue. Grand gestures also made the ending satisfyingly romantic and upbeat.
In this second book in the Escape series, Roxy’s sister Ruthie gets hired for an internet reality show on a cruise ship, Marriage and romance are on the agenda, but things don’t turn out at all the way Ruthie had planned.
One of the funniest rom-coms I’ve seen … well, since Roxy and Kai’ story in the last book.
