Oh this book!! I can’t even with this book. I couldn’t put it down. I couldn’t wait to devour every word. Katherine and Camden broke me down in the best ways.
Katherine is a b****h and she owns it. She is an Upper East Side socialite. Her face is her brand. When you meet her in the Cruel series you HATE her. And that’s not an accident. I really hated her. I did not have any warm or even lukewarm feelings for her.
Camden is a jerk and a douche. He’s a rich, arrogant player. He and Katherine are together but he does not treat her with an ounce of respect. He uses his money and power as a weapon and you wonder why these two are together.
Cue The Breaking Season. At the beginning of the Seasons series you start to see different elements of these two and wonder all about what goes on in their heads and behind closed doors. By the time The Breaking Season was ready to come out, I was craving this book. I wanted to know about them. And what I got was so unexpected.
Reading about Katherine and Camden, what they thought about themselves, about each other and how they navigated their relationship, their families and friends, was so fun. I mean it is not a fun book but the way that they banter and the angst that ways so heavily in their story is so good.
Katherine becomes more than what she seems. You find out about her past and do the one thing you never thought you would, you empathize with her. You see why she puts up the walls she does. You see why she started to act a certain way. You see a side to her you never thought was there.
Camden shows his other side. He is still as rich and arrogant as ever but you see why he is that way and then you see his loyal side. He can wield his money and power to benefit those he loves and cares about and it is a damn sexy side to him. You see this softer side to Camden. Loved it.
Watching these two break apart and come together time and again never gets old. Linde knows how to keep you anticipating what will happen next and keep wondering if these two will ever work it out. I fell in love with Katherine and Camden. They quickly became one of my favorite couples in the KA Linde world.
K.A Linde has hit it out of the park with The Breaking Season!
The Breaking Season was a fabulous addition to The Seasons series! Camden and Katherine were an explosive coupling. If you thought you knew anything about them from the previous books, you are completely wrong. This couple shocked me in the best possible way. I will admit, while reading the other two books, I thought they were rather shallow, and, at times, condescending. Then, I read The Breaking Season! This novel will change any preconceived notions you may have had.
The relationship between Katherine and Camden went much deeper, and into a more emotional depth that I ever thought possible with these two characters. When going deeper into their relationship, you can easily tell why they are together, beyond the obvious reason of the arranged marriage.
This novel has quickly become a favourite of mine written by KA Linde! I will definitely be rereading it again in the future.
5/5 Stars!
This was a new to me author!! So I was blind going in.
From the first chapter the hero captivated me,
The chemistry between the characters were just simmering and the hate and pull between them really made this a fun read.
The characters were rich and didn’t shy off from showing off.
Best part, the f didn’t cry or complain for the wealth. Many times, the f are whinning or just hold grudges against the vast wealth.
Instead, to see a woman who revelled in it and knew how to weld it.
This was a sexy enemy to lover romance stuck in an arranged marriage
5 So Many Revelations Stars!!!
I’ve read all the books in this inter-connected series and I’m not going to lie, the minute I met Katherine I had a truly vitriolic reaction to her and the way she manipulates and play the people in and around her world. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would change how I felt, but let me tell you something, this book, has 100% reversed how I feel about her!!
If you’ve read any of the previous books, you know about Katherine and Camden and their marriage…at least we thought we knew what was behind their arrangement. But low and behold, as is generally the case, there’s so much more behind their actions and who Kat and Camden are…so so so much more!!
Ms. Linde has written a book that is full of heat, passion, truths, revelations and even love! I didn’t honestly think it was possible for this woman to feel anything about anyone else but herself, but she’s a true chameleon and seeing these changes come about was a true joy. When some of the secrets both Camden and Kat have been hiding from the world are revealed, you can’t help but fall in love with both of them individually and as a couple.
I’m not going to lie and tell you there weren’t times I wanted to slap either one of them, because there were definitely times I was growling at my kindle. But then in the next few pages, I was back to feeling elated as their relationship and the love they so desperately want and need came to fruition. And there’s even a few times when those that got what was coming to them had me doing a little fist pump!!!
I know you’re reading this thinking can this girl be anymore vague? Well, I could but, if I give too much detail it will ruin this reading experience for you. I’ll leave you with this very old adage…. There’s so much more to someone than what we see on the surface and there’s no better example of this than Katherine and Camden Percy!
This was one of my most anticipated reads of the summer, and while it ended up being nothing like I expected I loved every second of it.
For months I’ve been expecting an enemies to lovers with an arranged marriage twist, but this story is so much more. I loved Katherine & Camden so much, and their story is nothing short of an emotional rollercoaster.
I loved how unique this story is, and that there were so many different elements that brought it all together. I was hooked immediately and couldn’t put it down, and even though I loved the ending I wouldn’t have complained if the story kept going. It was great seeing characters from the first two books, and a surprising link from another favorite series.
This is definitely my favorite so far in this series, and I can’t wait for the next one!
The Breaking Season is such an apt title for this book for quite a few reasons, however, I won’t reveal anymore or it will spoil the story for everyone.
Katherine Van Pelt and Camden Percy, both are from the Upper East side of New York but only one now financially stable. Both sign a marriage contract and now a year after their union it is anything but wedded bliss. The tension that radiates off both lead characters is so thick you’d need a machete to cut it. At times I wanted to knock both of their heads together to try to knock some sense into them.
This book has everything in it; wonderful characters that you can easily relate to-even if some were born with silver spoons in their mouths, light humour to make you chuckle and raw emotions to make your heart trip over itself in anger or fear, serious issues that are explored in positive ways, some slight mysteries about Camden’s mother and a few of the other character’s relationship status’ and of course an enemies to lovers romance.
I thoroughly enjoyed this entertaining book.
KA Linde in an amazing author! I love her! Finally! We finally get Camden and Katherine’s story! I loved everything about this book! I am not usually a huge fan of angsty books, but I crave the angst that only KA Linde can give! FIVE STARS!!
I really enjoyed this fiery romance.
“It worked. We worked somehow…even when we hated each other.”
Katherine Van Pelt and Camden Percy have a marriage arrangement – she needed his money, and he just wanted her…and an heir. However, their pasts keep them tethered in a rut of jealousy, hurt and animosity. When they decide to call a truce, things begin to evolve between them, but both have demons to deal overcome before they can be truly happy.
“His look said only one thing – mine. After tonight, I would belong to him. He’d own me. And no one was even going object. Not even me.”
Goodness! Katherine and Camden are two strong-willed and stubborn people! Their relationship was fiery and ballastic. They had intense desire and passion between them yet strong mental fortitude; neither were willing to break first. Both liked to be in control. However, both also had vulnerability. Katherine wanted affirmation and love, and Camden always craved his father’s approval, which drove him to be more than successful. The two of them just needed to talk and be honest with each other but neither wanted to show weakness.
The books in this series are standalones but definitely worth reading them in order, as they reference past events. I would have liked knowing exactly how their marriage came about, as we only get the gist of it really. Nonetheless, it didn’t take away my enjoyment of this story, which was sexy, a little angsty, and I adored the friendships portrayed. The ending melted my heart.
My favorite book in the series. The Breaking Season is an angsty, enemies to lovers, arranged marriage that provided all the drama and the feels I’ve come to love from K.A. Linde.
I was blown away by the character development in this book. Gah! The growth shone by both Katherine and Camden deserves a standing ovation. They are not the villains we thought they were. I knew there was more to Katherine and Camden then the cold heartless exterior. I’m so happy we got to see that. The vulnerability they showed – whether it be from their family dynamics, issues of abandonment, jealousy or self worth – humanized them and it made me loved them more and more.
Camden and Katherine pulled every emotion imaginable out of me. Their marriage started out so volatile, argumentative and at times downright ugly. There are moments when this relationship made me uncomfortable as they both fought for control. However even with all the arguing there was an underlying layer of love and understanding. Growing up in a similar lifestyle, they knew what it was like to be surrounded with so much toxicity and it felt like they had an ally in each other.
I am so in love with this series and I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. I have my fingers crossed we get more from this world because I’m not ready to leave it yet.
Eeeekkkk this book is just everything! The Brwaking Season is definitely the best one in this series! KA Linde outdid herself with this one!
I loved the dynamic between Katherine and Camden. It was just over the top. Their storyline was so unique and sexy! I loved reading about them and their twisted up marriage and how their relationship developed through the book.
From the beginning of this series I was always intrigued by Katherine. She’s such a thrilling and unique character, in a way that not a lot of authors write about such bitchy and arrogant people. But I loved that, I loved how KA Linde stayed true to Katherine’s character and her bichy ways and her arrogance. These characters are some of the most exciting to read, because you never know what you get. And even the most selfish and arrogant character is human.
And not to forget Camden! I totally loved him. Even more arrogant and secretive. But he’s such a great character! His story is just perfectly executed. He’s bossy, posessive, arrogant, selfish, sexy, and so much more.
Katherine and Camden’s story is someting I’ve been waiting for. It’s a well written story with a lot of passion and depth.
I’ve been wanting Katherine and Camden’s story since I read Lark and Sam’s story. They have captured my attention and even in Court and English’s story I wanted more. When the opportunity to read an early copy of this book presented itself I could not sign up for it fast enough. I am calling it as my favorite. This story was just perfect and exactly what I wanted from them. I could not read it fast enough and I honestly did not want it to end. The back and forth between them, their messed up pasts just really have you rooting for them not just from the beginning of this book but even from the glimpses of them in the previous books. This is an absolute must read. This entire series is an absolute must read. Do not miss out!!
The Breaking Season is a stand alone but I really recommend for you to read the series in order to understand these characters much better. I would even recommend you start with The Wright Love, from the Wright Series.
Breaking Season has me double guessing my initial feelings about some of my loved and most hated characters.
For example:
Camden Percy. I was so intrigued by him since his very first appearance in the series, I just couldn’t wait until I could read more of him. :sigh: Boy did I get it, he met and exceeded my every expectation and now I wan more… much much more!
Katherine Van Pelt… ugh. I did NOT like Katherine since her appearance in The Wright Love, she just rubbed me the wrong way….
Sometimes you think you know where an author is going with the characters and then… Bam… here comes Kyla and deviates from your head.
It hurts me to say that I’m a fan of Katherine now… I know I can’t believe it. Trust me I KNOW!!!
Please, please read! You will not regret it!!!!!

If I could give The Breaking Season more than 5 stars, I’d do it. This story is mind blowing amazing!
It is an emotional and heartbreaking journey, but each of my tears was worth it because K.A. Linde made me enjoy it with her impeccable writing.
The Breaking Season was the perfect dose of darkness, sexiness and heartache that I needed. It left me breathless.
I have a confession to make. In the books leading up to Katherine and Camden’s story, I did not care for either of them. They played the villains, so to speak, in the previous books. I was very interested to get their story and see what made them tick.
What a great story this was! My favorite of the series and they are now my favorite couple. Katherine and Camden both seem to have it all and their arranged marriage was not something either of them wanted.
But they slowly fall in love and the chemistry between them sparkles. Katherine grew so much in this series. I won’t get into any spoilers but she does suffer through something that i also went through and K.A. Linde wrote that so beautifully.
Just an absolutely amazing book!
The Breaking Season by KA Linde is an arranged marriage romance where all the lines begin to blur. The marriage between Camden and Katherine was on paper only, right? However, there was something more there as well. Camden was surprising in this book. We got to see a different side of him and how much he truly cared. Katherine has always seemed so callous much of the time, but as we got to know her, we saw other sides as well. We also got to see what made her the woman she is.
I was swept away with the characters in this story and their journey. Neither would admit what they felt for the other, but we could feel it jumping off the pages. The Breaking Season by KA Linde was emotional and angst filled and I could not stop reading.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
I am speechless, K.A. Linde has outdone herself with Katherine and Camden’s story. There are several twists in this book that K.A. Linde writes so well. Just when you have things figured out, TWIST!
Katherine Van Pelt once had it all, she had the money, her father was a good man, or so she thought before the truth came out. Her mother and brother were around, and she was happier. Until everything wasn’t okay, her father wound up getting arrested. Her brother fled New York for California, and her mother forced her into a hospital. After some time, she agreed to marry Camden Percy, and now it’s time to fulfill the agreement from the marriage. However, some things aren’t the easiest to meet with someone who continually fights with you.
Camden Perry is the heir to Percy Hotels and has secretly loved Katherine Van Pelt. However, loving her hasn’t been the easiest. There has been a constant someone in Katherine’s life; he would rather have out for like forever! Though it’s now time for Katherine to fulfill the rest of their agreement. Will he convince Katherine to meet their agreement without drawing blood from one another, or will he lose Katherine once and for all.
As time went on and I got to know more about Camden, I was proven wrong. He is a man who has been tortured and poisoned by his father’s hate for his mother leaving them. He has been hardened and only knows one way to protect himself, and that is by closing off and saying some not so lovely truths about whoever he may be around. It’s a deflective/protective shield for him. I understand all too well. I can understand how and why Katherine’s story took so long. She has such layers that most people only see what’s on the top. They don’t bother to delve deeper, but Katherine also doesn’t make it easy either! Nor does Camden. To be forthcoming, I had my doubts about Camden, could he be more than what he appears or is he also a hardened layered person? It turns out Camden has layers as well. He is one tough cookie and looks out for his friends. Though who is looking out for Camden? I loved to see him gain his strength not only in himself but with his relationship with Katherine. I honestly thought Court and English would be my favorite couple, but they are neck and neck with The Percy’s!
You guys K.A. Linde talked about some more profound things in this book than in others I have read, and I loved it. She talks about Katherine’s bout with anorexia and how she compares herself to others and always feels the need to look a certain way. I loved the way KA told Katherine’s story of having an eating disorder and dealing with it, not so great ways. I felt for Katherine and could understand her wanting to be perfect. There was also a child who has ALL, Acute lymphoblastic leukemia, in this story and brought happiness to Katherine’s life. Once I graduated from college, I got a job in the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, and it was the hardest year of my life. People who have cancer stay around town or in the hospital for a lengthy time. You develop a kinship with them, and things become harder once you realize the chance of them making it out alive is down to single digits.
I seriously loved everything about this book. KA did such a fantastic job that I truly felt the pain and heartache from Camden and Katherine. She has truly outdone herself this time, and I can’t wait to see what else comes from this series. I highly recommend this book. If you wanted to understand Katherine and Camden’s story better, I would start with the Cruel series and then go into the Seasons.
***Rating: 4.5/5***
There is no denying that K.A. Linde has written some of my all-time favorite books and ever since we met Katherine and Camden in her Cruel Series, I’ve been eager to read their story. The Breaking Season is the third book in the Seasons Series and it did not disappoint at all. Linde did a great job brining these two Upper East Side villains together in this steamy arrange marriage story that will leave you wanting for more.
Katherine Van Pelt truly represents the Upper East Side. She is a wealthy socialite whose looks are adored by so many who follow her and she also gets to attend glamours events in town. Katherine is seen as someone who has everything and is envied for it. But behind her prestigious name, her life is falling apart. Ever since her father put their wealth in jeopardy, things have begin to change for her. It’s when she finds herself signing on the dotted line of her marriage contract that she doesn’t see who Camden really is. He promised her his money and name which it was easy for her to take, yet it’s time for him to get his end of the bargain and this time he wants an heir. Katherine has been through so much in her life that has contributed to why is the way she is and her stubborn nature is not letting her surrender to Camden no matter how much he tries to make things right with her. It would take a turn of events to make her see that he might just be right for me and she has to decide if she is willing to let her insecurities to be with the one she is falling in love with or not.
Camden Percy is the bad boy of Manhattan and everyone knows it. He holds a lot of power that makes him look intimidating and alluring at the same time. But he wants one person in his life and he is willing to do anything to get Katherine to finally surrender to him once and for all. What he wasn’t expecting to get from the marriage was a perfect match. They are similar in so many ways, both with equally messed up pasts that ultimately brings them closer the more they get to know one another. With new obstacles ahead of them, he’ll have to decide if he is willing to risk everything for Katherine or walk away completely.
I’m really happy that I got the chance to read the book, it had me hooked from beginning to end. There is so much sizzling chemistry between the characters and so many steamy/romantic scenes that had me swooning for them. Camden is the bad boy with the biggest heart. He truly wants to take care of Katherine and it takes her a bit to see that, but when she does their whole dynamic changes. Katherine is known to be the biggest villain in the Cruel Series and I’m happy to see that there is more to her than just money and looks. Now, I do think that the ending felt a bit rushed for me. I just wished the author could have added another chapter or two towards the end before getting to the sweet epilogue. It would have tied everything together that much more. All in all, if you haven’t read this series or the Cruel Series, then you have to do it! It gives a good perspective of the characters and then to see them fully develop in this story makes it so much better. I would highly recommend it and cannot wait to read The Faking Season. 🙂
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**
I KNEW IT! I knew I would devour Camden and Katherine’s story but I didn’t know that it would become on of my favorites of Linde’s. I think we see the KA Linde we all fell in love with in the Avoiding Series. She truly is the unbeaten champion of angst. This book is riddled with angst, twists, and a sad but inspiring love story mixed in.
When we met Katherine and Camden in previous books, we all thought – these two are a mess, two uptight, rich jerks, and yes that may be true but there is so much more to Camden and Katherine. KA Linde’s beautiful mind and writing have changed my perception of Camden and Katherine which I didn’t think was possible. There are secrets, underlying issues for both Camden and Katherine that has made them who they are – or at least who we think they are.
I was hypnotized while reading this – I had one goal, to keep reading, to find out how these two could possibly get their happily ever after and KA Linde delivered (as she always does).
I have been anticipating this book since I first met Katherine in CRUEL MONEY. I won’t say I lovvvve her but I definitely understand her better. While she and Camden are in an arranged marriage, you know from glimpses of them in the other books that there is wayyyy more to the story and boy was there. This is the couple you will love to hate. I have been a fAn of Ms. Linde’s for years and I had no doubt she would make me fall for these two. Last but not least…JEM STOLE THE SHOW!
I have been wanting Cam and Katherine’s story since the beginning! I tried really hard not to like Camden but he totally grew on me. He comes off so aloof and hardly shows any emotion and Katherine is the same. I loved seeing beneath their masks. Looking at them, you would have no idea either of them have pasts that broke them and they are just trying to survive. They may have come together as a business arrangement but they are perfect for each other. I loved every angsty bit!!
