Turns out I’m a heartless bitch because I only cried twice. Still, well executed. I’ll leave it at that.
AmaZing. Don’t want to give anything away but what tear jerker. Such surprising moments. Wow!!!! Loved it.
This plot is cruel in more than one way and heartbreaking
The Blurb is right and still so very wrong and for that reason I expected it to be a different story, to be honest. I even thought at one point I had it all figured out – and even though it sounded far fetched – I have read stranger things …
But when the truth was revealed my house of cards shattered and I am not sure how I feel anymore … except one thing is true – hope is always the last to die.
I received an ARC in exchange of an honest review
Every once and awhile you get a book that blows you away, well this one was one for me. I loved this heart-warming, emotional(keep kleenex handy), heartbreaking read. It grabbed my attention from page one til the very end. The characters Cate and Drew are amazing. This is a must read!!
5 STARS and a BIG HEART for this book.
If you love books that tear your heart out, then this is the one that wrecks you.
First of all, the Prologue had me in tears. When I’ve read the Prologue I couldn’t believe such few lines could make me feel so emotional without being close to the characters yet. I knew I had to read this book. And it proved to be amazing.
This book was Cruel and Beautiful at the same time – the book title really fits perfectly to the story because I couldn’t come up with other words to describe this.
It felt like I fell in love for the first time just to get pushed over the edge of a cliff. My heart got huge with all this love for the characters just to get shredded to pieces.
How can you not love Drew McKnight? Sexy and handsome doctor Drew. He is the perfect man a woman can wish for. He is loving, caring, selfless and gives everything he has – body, heart and soul. And did I mention he looks yummy?! =) But even though Drew could have outshined all of the other characters, he didn’t. He let them even shine brighter and that speaks a lot for him.
Cate was heartbroken, lost and struggled over what she has done. With Drew at her side she was like a blooming flower.
I loved how the characters in the book were written and made up. They felt so real to me and that’s what I felt already when reading the Prologue.
Even the Families of Drew and Cate were well written and I could really imagine them clearly in my head. Everything fitted perfectly together. Also the friends and colleagues made the story so much more real and interesting.
This story is perfectly written and the time switching from the past and present was well done. This is one of the best and saddest books that I’v read. It will stay with me forever. I’m an emotional person but to be honest I haven’t cried this hard in a long time.
This book is a whole ‘nother level of sad but to be fair I have to say that this book isn’t all about crying, some scenes were hilarious and I had to laugh so hard. There was so much love involved and also a lot of funny moments.
Ps.: Don’t judge the book by the cover because it doesn’t prepare you for the heartbreak which you will experience when reading this beautifully cruel story.
I need to stop reading prologues they kill me and they make me all nervous when I read. Drew is quite the charmer with his way of words, “no. No effing at all. Not one tiny little bit of effing. I solemnly swear. Scout’s honor. God, you’re so effing beautiful.” Drew seriously has a way with words and he kept me entertained, “if you don’t get a move on, you’ll end up going to your spa appointment smelling like a freshly effed woman. I don’t mind it, but I’m not sure if you do.” There are times her man just can’t hold back, “the limo. ” Her eyes grow in size and it only makes me harder. “Eff Cate, you can’t look at me like that. I won’t last.” I enjoyed this book I liked it a lot.
I loved this book and the others that follow.
