As a child, I discovered a castle. It became a sanctuary from the nightmare that was my life, but my fairytale truly began when he found me.The boy with green eyes and crooked smile. The boy with stories and an imagination that could take us far, far away. In our castle he was the prince, and I the princess. For the first time in my life I was safe, happy. I was loved. But every fairytale has a … loved.
But every fairytale has a villain, ours would be no different.
I just never expected the villain to be me.

How the hell is this a debut novel? The story that was weaved in this book is one that almost had me brought to tears for the first time while reading. This book stirs up so many emotions, that I found myself lucky that my device wasn’t broken by the time that I was done reading. The characters were sculpted so perfectly that they were so relatable, you feel like your in the story. I found myself going through highs and lows with the each of the characters. I can’t wait for the rest of Tessa and Andrew’s story.
This book totally sucked….me in. I wanted to hate it, I really did, I’m not into books like this, I don’t like the intense ‘feels’ that these kinds of books bring. I don’t like ‘thinking’ when I read I want an escape….THAT being said, I read this and the second in the series within a day of each other which, I’m not going to lie pissed me off, I couldn’t NOT read the second it just wasn’t possible.
If you like books that make you feel this is the series to read, if you want an escape…read it anyway. Infinity thumbs up
Well, I don’t think these words are going to do it justice but I’m going to try. Simply just saying I love this book doesn’t seem like enough. This book tore my heart out multiple times and put it back together again. The emotion and passion that just oozed out of this writer were just phenomenal. I call her a writer but she’s more of an artist as this was truly a masterpiece. It’s not often I read less than 5% of a book and have to have a break as I sob my heart out. Even before finishing this book I wanted to re-read it. I want to own multiple copies of this book as I am afraid it’s going to get worn to death reading it. All this I felt after the first chapter!!!!!!
Hands down the BEST book I have EVER read!!!!!!
I am still sobbing…
Omg this book, you have to read this book if you are looking for a book that will take you on a ride of emotions and damn….. can Tessa catch a break?!
I couldn’t put this book down, as vulgar as some things were and as shockingly emotional it made me feel, I just hung on every word….
For a debut book, this isn’t one to miss!
The way the author pulls you into the world of these characters is mesmerising. You find yourself rooting for them all and hoping that at the end, they all get the outcome they deserve.
But SK Rose keeps you on the edge of your seat and leaves you on one hell of an ending!
If you don’t mind hard content, then read this book!! NOW!
This broke my heart. Sometimes i come across a book, and i have to re read it, because it was that amazing.. then re read it again and again, this was one of those books!!
Oh my. I loved this story even though I cried for most of it. I love the connection between Andrew and Tessa. It’s a once in a lifetime kind of love, but like in reality, you have your obstacles. I want book 2 and I want it NOW! lol. Do not give up on your writing or get discouraged. For a debut book, it was fabulous, well written (editor missed 1 or 2 words though), and realistic. I love stories where they seem real, draw you in and make you feel like you’re part of it or even been thru it. LOVE YOUR WORK S.K.! Can’t wait for the next book 🙂
CWG is a 5 star must Read
What an AMAZING debut by Rose! Crowned with Guilt is stunning, its raw, its tragic! It’s one of the best of 2018!
I am one of those people who are instantaneously drawn to the broken and damaged souls. There is something about them that speaks to my soul. Tessa, from a young age was beaten down and broken. The events in her life are stunningly tragic, that just adds to who she is deep down. She a fiesty standoffish survivor. Her walls are so solid and high, she doesnt allow anyone in to be a to hurt her. Tessa became a favorite and I am excited to find out what Rose has planned for her.
Y’all seriously read this book, fantastic!
One of the best reads this year from a debut author!
Wow. Just wow. I am truly amazed that this is S.K. Rose’s first novel. I’ve read a few debut novels and am usually able to tell. But this book is written with such fluidity, you would think she is a seasoned pro.
CWG hooked me from the beginning and that is one of the best feelings an author can give you. I’m not a very fast reader and a novel of this length usually takes me 3-4 days to complete… it was devoured in 2. It got to the point where I was getting angry with my husband for trying to have a conversation with me while CWG had me locked in.
Tessa is such a strong and beautiful character and though I’ve never been through the things she has, Rose makes her so incredibly relatable. Andrew is the ideal boy-next-door that you can’t help but immediately love. (I’m trying my best to write this without spoilers).
S.K. Rose does drag your heart through the mud a little, but it is so incredibly worth it.
To be completely honest, there are certain aspects of this book that would immediately put it on my do not read list. But those aspects are overcome because the book is just that good. (And I don’t say that lightly).
Thank you S.K. Rose for giving us such a beautiful story, I’m dying for the next one!
THIS WAS ONE HELL OF A DEBUT!
Now, how do I write this without spoilers…
I read it in one sitting. I could do nothing else but be consumed with each word, each sentence.
The emotions this brand-new author evokes, her writing certainly promises great things to come.
Her story has true depth, heart and soul. I ugly cried my poor heart out. I laughed, a lot.
The characters were incredible. Mary-Beth (aka Pinky Pie) is my favorite, aside from the lead characters.
Andrew, he made my heart beat out of my chest.
Tess she’s my hero, her strength, her inner beauty. I adored her. Even at her bitchiest.
Holyfreakingamazingshitballs! I am still reeling from this book, that ending, and my emotions so i may not be completely coherent but bear with me ok.
This is SK Rose DEBUT novel. And it is flipping amazing. It is filled with emotion, and so raw. But I freaking loved the shit out of this book!!
This story follows Tessa and her hellish life. The story draws you in right from the begin, and your heart goes out to Tessa. This book is filled with so many emotions- everything from hope, dreams, laughter, to pain, tragedy and despair.
“I thought I could ignore the fact that I’m the villain in this tragic tale.”
My heart went out and shattered for Tessa. Seriously, I cried periodically throughout this book- but i am such an emotional reader; I love books that bring out the emotions in me. And this book brought them out full force.
I even related to some of the things Tessa had been through. And maybe that is part of the reason why I loved her- was because i connected with her.
I also loved Andrew, and Mary-Elizabeth, and Chase, and even Vincent. Seriously, i just want to caccoon all these characters up in like a blanket fort and throw books and food at them. Like they are wayy too precious. I love them ok.
Im still a bit of a mess after this book, if you couldn’t tell. But damn, did i love it. Seriously. I loved the shit out of it. And you guys definitely need to read this book when it comes out. I don’t fucking care if the queen of England wants to have tea with you. Nope. You can’t because you will be reading this book ok?! Got it?! Gooodddddd.
5 freaking amazing out of 5.
I can’t remember the last time I’ve been so captivated by a story that I HAD to read the second book immediately. Crowned with Guilt is NOT an easy read by an stretch of the imagination. To say that Tessa’s life is not easy is a definite understatement. Despite the pain she endures on a daily basis, she has the open heart and mind of a beautiful princess and when she meets her prince she is sure life will be better for her someday. The story spans years of her life and many different avenues of pain that she must deal with at a young age. Any little glimpses of happiness are few and far between. What we see here though is that there will always be someone who sees through the pain and is willing to put themselves out there for abuse to break through that wall. I read this in one sitting and if I hadn’t had to go to work, I would have jumped onto the second book immediately. This does not end on a happy note but that is because there is more work for Tessa to do before she can believe she is not cursed and deserves happiness. If this is SK Rose’s debut novel, I can’t wait to see where she takes us next.
This book – wow….!!
“I’m whoever you need me to be. A prince when you need me to be. A prince when you need saving, a wizard when you want a little magic, and a fairy godmother when you deserve a wish.”
Ok, warning – this hits a lot of dark points, that can set people off, it’s not for the faint of hearted, yet it is very sweet too, they meet at the age of eight and shows the true cruelty she was living through.
This book goes through stages and you see the growth, strength and a good dose of twists and turns, you don’t see some of the surprises happening and it blows you away.
I can’t believe this is S.K.’s debut novel. It took a few chapters and then I was immersed in the pages with Tessa and Drew as reality disappeared around me. It’s been a long time since I have cried over tragedy in a book but this hit some feels that have long been buried.
The characters were beautifully written and the storyline was the type that has you reading as fast as you can because you need to know what happens. I’m really excited to dive into book 2
Holy Shit!
As I sit here thinking of how to express my words for such and amazing Author I say yes, yes you need to read this!
This is a story of a young girl trying to find happiness. She meets her young prince and she is able to find peace in created fairytales. Although fairytales are often filled with darkness, Tess and Andrew meet that darkness first hand. Can Tessa find her way out of the darkness that has consumed her life? Stay tuned for Cleansed With Fire!
Very rarely do you find a story that has you so wrapped up in it from the very beginning that you can’t believe it’s the end, this is one of those story’s. It’s engrossing and engaging, powerful in it’s beauty and haunting in it’s depth. The characters are heartbreakingly mesmerizing in their complexity. If there is any book you show read this year, this is it.
One of my favorite reads in 2018, I am just learning this forum so this is why you are just now seeing this, haha.
The characters are great and pull you into their story, I remember screaming. crying, laughing and loving every part of this read, also gave me one of the biggest book hangovers.
