Lady Georgiana Rannoch knows nothing is simple when you’re thirty-fifth in line for the British crown, but her upcoming marriage proves to be the ultimate complication in the tenth mystery in the New York Times bestselling Royal Spyness series. As Lady Georgiana’s beloved Darcy drives her out of London, she soon discovers that he isn’t planning to introduce her to the pleasures of sinning in … the pleasures of sinning in secret—as she had hoped—but to make her his wife!
Of course, she’ll need special permission from the king to marry a Roman Catholic. Though he will inherit a title, Darcy is as broke as Georgie. Even his family’s Irish castle has been sold to a rich American who now employs his father.
Nothing will deter them from their mission—except perhaps the news that Georgie’s future father-in-law has just been arrested for murdering the rich American. With the elopement postponed, they head for Ireland, where the suspect insists he’s innocent, and it’s up to them to prove it—for better or worse.

I enjoyed this story! It kept me hooked, trying to figure out who the “bad guys” were. What seemed the obvious solution…was not!! Light enough not to be gruesome, but intriguing!
I enjoyed it. A heroine without angst. Just plain fun and relaxing. No preaching, no ghastly gore, an entertaining mystery. With no criticism intended, potato chips for the soul.
Love all of Rhys Bowen’s books. This is no exceptions.
4.5 Stars
PG 13 (Not really something a grade-schooler would want to read)
No sex
Limited, if any, strong language and no F-bombs. YEA!
Cozy mystery style violence, in other words, it’s happened, but we don’t have to read the gory details.
As in the other 9 installments of this series it is a joy to follow Georgiana through her antics and the challenge of solving yet another murder mystery. The book opens with Darcy, the man who has stolen her heart, surprising her by whisking her away to elope. Ah, but wouldn’t you know it, a blizzard, not to mention a domestic mess, ruins their plans.
I took off 1/2 a star because there were sections that I felt were repetitive, as if the author wanted to move along the story as well as the relationship between Darcy and Georgie, but her heart was not 100% in it.
At other times descriptions of characters and situations were as entertaining and definitely as amusing as always.
Read with confidence.
These are quick and fun books! The heroine gets in and out of scrapes with her quick whit!
The Audible copy is worth listening to as the voice artist – Katherine Kellgren – does a splendid job of bringing the different characters alive. She is definitely the most talented voice artist I have encountered so far.
I love this series by Rhys Bowen. It’s cute and takes me back to the 1930’s and 40’s with the antics of the Royal families “black sheep”.
First book I’ve read in this series and I want to read more. Great characters, love the historical info.
Rhys Bowen never disappoints.
