A marriage of confidence, for a year, that must be believable, with No Feelings. It’s a good thought when both parties don’t spark when seeing each other. But when there is some explosive chemistry between the Mr Logan Crowne and Ms Ella Papillon, no feelings is hard to do.
Logan is the workaholic who doesn’t make time for himself. Ella is a free spirit artisan who is somewhat lost in her world. They set out to fake a marriage as an ultimatum set by his father. He’ll get the company back and Logan will buy Ella’s father’s company back for her. Seems super easy, but along the way, the no feelings rule get muddied and feelings start to develop on both sides. But Logan is too tightly wound to realize that the best thing that has ever happened to him is literally living with him in his house.
Their journey to finding love with each other and appreciating what each one gives to the other is perfectly filled with sweetness, sass, romance, tension, sexiness with a side of angst. The banter between the character is spot on and deliciously hot. I also loved Logan’s family as well as Ella’s family and friends. They all added an extra depth to the story. You can’t help but fall in love with Logan and Ella and the entire cast of secondary characters.
Crowne of Lies by CD Reiss is the story of Logan and Ella.
Logan is 100% business with no plans on love or marriage. But then his father hands him a ultimatum that might have him loose what he prizes most…the business he lives for. Ella is somewhat opposite of Logan where she is more fun, flighty and caring. But they come together to have a pretend relationship where both gets what they want the most out of the arrangement with each agreeing to no emotions. But as we know…they never work out as planed.
This book is one that you won’t be able to put down…I couldn’t. Loved it.
This steamy & sexy romance will sweep you off of your feet!
Logan Crowne is a workaholic. When the job he loves is threatened if he doesn’t take a moment to breathe and find happiness, he does what every single man would do…finds a fake relationship/marriage.
Ella is a strong-willed, hard-working woman working at the bottom of the ladder of her father’s company. When Logan offers a deal of mutual benefit to both parties, Ella is swept into emotions she was determined to fight.
With plenty of sass, family drama and sexiness that will melt your Kindle and panties, Crowne of Lies is the perfect fake marriage romance.
Logan is the definition of ALPHA! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Logan Crowne needs a wife… the woman he has in mind has another thought…and its not her. Elle Papillion needs more in her life than the day to day. Her friend approaches her with an idea of sorts. A husband for a year.
Logan & Elle know each other… enter the fireworks… they ignite fast. Though they have not seen each other since high school, who would have thought that they would be perfect for each other. You are going to get so much of their family, their jokes and antics. There is fun, love and happiness. The story is paced pretty fast in the beginning, so you will get swept up fast.
5 CROWNE STARS!
„Break my heart, Logan.”
„I’m going to break more than that.”
Crowne of Lies is a great marriage of convenience story, filled with tension and fire to the brim. CD Reiss never cease to amaze with the amount of sexiness she put in her books and this one is definitely one of them. The pages of Ella and Logan’s story are dripping with heat and making you unable to stop reading, proving that what doesn’t match at first glance can be perfectly suited for the long haul.
I loved that CD paired sexy, wealthy and dirty-talking Logan with a woman who isn’t a typical arm-candy. When he’s all about suits, she’s a tattooed and pierced woman who wears ripped jeans. When his life revolves solely around business, she’s creating art. But apart from these differences, they’re a lot alike. Both are workaholics and they’re both driven to get a control over their family companies. Their unite can help them reach the goal, but is it really what counts the most in life? Can they really end their deal when the time comes?
Gah, the chemistry that Logan and Elle share is completely off the charts! I loved the sexual tension in this book and when they surrendered to the passion the sparks were flying everywhere. It was incredibly hot and intense. I adored Logan’s possessiveness and dominance. But Crowne of Lies is not only about sex. It has also an emotional depth. Both of these characters learned a lot in the span of the time they were together and I loved to see how they growed. Both had secrets that made an impact on them and they needed to make peace with the past to finally heal.
Crowne of Lies has a great storyline, wonderful characters and it’s full of steam. It’s all I need from a romance book and with CD’s impeccable writing style reading it gave me an amazing experience.
Oh, Christine. We don’t deserve you.
Logan and Ella are everything I love about opposites attracting. They are strong personalities all on their own, and their banter is just the best. Add in a dash of marriage of convenience, pinch of total denial of feelings and a heaping of hot sexy times and you have the perfect CD Reiss angsty love affair story.
Now that I’ve broken the seal on reading her books, I’m never quitting her. You should start with Iron Crowne, but you don’t have to. Just start. Anywhere. You won’t regret it!
I really liked Byron in Iron Crowne but I absolutely loved Logan’s story.
In Crowne of Lies, opposites really do attract, and handsome, buttoned-up Logan Crowne needs to learn how to have a little fun!
I’m having a wonderful time watching these Crowne men meet their love match…Logan and Ella are perfect together. If you love romance reads, of any trope, you need to meet the Crownes.
Ella and Logan have got to be my two favorite CD Reiss characters to date!! Logan Crowne has it all and Ella is everything!!! This book was easily the best CD Reiss book I’ve read in the last few years, and that’s saying something because she’s one brilliant author!!!! This book has it all, witty characters, sexiness, pulling at the heart strings, everything!!!! Phenomenal book, CD Reiss!!! I think I’ll go read it again!!!!
3 and 1/2 stars
Logan and Ella are complete opposites: he is straight laced and she is wild. But both are passionate about their work. This is what initially connects them. The proposal benefits them both in regards to their work life which dominates their existence. They spun lies about their relationship to convince everyone that they are madly in love. But I don’t think they were expecting feelings to actually develop. Try as they might, no matter how many times they said, it doesn’t mean anything, feelings crept in. Logan is a workaholic but I think Ella’s presence makes him realise what really matters. Similarly, Ella realises what she really wants from her life. There is a great deal of chemistry between the two but they try to resist in order to keep things clean cut. As time progresses, Ella doesn’t seem very happy with her new role as wife and I think this is what sparks the change in both characters. To really assess what they need and want. It was an engaging story with funny moments and interesting characters. While I enjoyed it, it was a bit hard to really lose myself in the story. I still encourage everyone to give it a go.
I am a sucker for opposites attracts and add in a marriage of convenience and I couldn’t wait to dive in! Logan Crowne has worked hard to learn the family business and to eventually run the Crowne Empire when his father stepped down. His father now wants his workaholic son to relax and live a little, and to also find a wife before his next birthday as a condition to stay in charge. With help from his good friend Mandy, they find someone who is totally not Logan’s type, and who won’t create drama when they end their temporary marriage. Ella Papillion is the heir to the Basile Papillion couture. She loves her father’s business and is working tirelessly to make beautiful gowns while protecting the Papillion name after her father’s passing and her step-mother taking over. Ella feels trapped, lost, and angry, so she acts out in rebellious ways. She is a creative, free spirited street artist who loves creating things that are experienced and that move people. Logan is uptight, and principled, but also dominant and sexy with a swoony vulnerable side. They are complete opposites but are so much the same with their need for family, love, and fulfilling work. As they move forward with their arrangement, things aren’t as easy as they anticipated. They both struggle with the secrets and lies they keep from those they love and it becomes impossible to fight the fiery passion between them. I loved Logan and Ella’s story so much! It is intriguing to me how two people, so different, can find common ground and connect so intrinsically, with their love being guided by the heart and not the mind. The way that Reiss pulls you in so easily, and makes you experience all the emotions and complexities of their relationship is beautiful. I really loved Logan and Ella and think they are so perfect together helping each other past their preconceived ideas to find a thrilling and passionate life together. I am completely fascinated by Ella’s street art as well. It was fun seeing more of Logan’s family, they are so supportive, loyal, and loving. I am looking forward to more about the Crowne family and Dante’s story next! I really loved this seductive, emotional and scorching hot romance!
I loved this book! Ella was perfect in her unpredictably, she was just what he needed. Logan loved her from the start and didn’t even realize it because he never truly had that with anyone else. He was all kinds of sweet, protective, and loving though.
I’m not going to lie, I’m not a fan of marriage of convenience. I really loved Iron Crowne so I decided to give this one a try, and I’m so glad I did. I was drawn in by Logan immediately. He was such a workaholic but he was such a good man. He was driven and was being forced into finding more out of life than just work. In the past his relationships failed because he was married to his job, and that is how he lived his life until he realized he could have more.
When he met Ella she was in a bad spot. She needed money to buy her family’s business back from her step mom and would go to any length to get it back, even marry Logan for a year in order to get the company in the divorce after they amicably split in a year.
They were opposites and they were drawn to each other like magnets. There was push and pull but Logan was hell bent on keeping her even after the deal was over. I had butterflies in my belly when he professed his love and when he acquiesced to the things she needed. I love an alpha male, but I really love one that knows what his woman needs and will give it to her no matter what it costs him. He realized that needing the person that is meant for you in your life is worth more than all the money in the world.
I’m loving the world of the Crowne Family.
Ms. Reiss delivers a complex beautifully written story of two people who are so vastly different than one another. Yet so similar.
Logan is a successful businessman.
He basically has it all.
Good looks, money and a family who loves him.
He lives his life for his work.
And therein lies what will be the beginning of many dominos falling.
Ella is the daughter of a famous now deceased fashion designer.
The life she is living is not what she had envisioned.
Ella is a bit of a wild card. She is unpredictable.
Her single focus is to take back what belongs to her.
And therein lies what will be the beginning of many dominos falling.
Logan and Ella find themselves in their own complicated messes.
In order for them to both get what they have always dreamed of and fulfill their long life ambitions.
They agree to marry for a year.
And therein lies what will be the beginning and ending of many dominos falling.
When two people are so focused on one specific thing so much can pass them by.
Not only that but they can unintentionally hurt others and themselves.
I loved the way the author wrote the story of Ella and Logan.
It’s filled with so much tension and passion.
Because these two people are just that.
They are intense and they are passionate.
The chemistry between them is an absolute.
I could feel the air sizzle around them.
It can been seen and felt.
Although Logan and Ella are very different in personalities.
They are similarly broken and lost.
I loved how the characters grew and developed.
How they started REALLY looking at their lives and reflecting.
And seeing what was blind to them.
I am addicted to words crafted by C.D. Reiss. Crowne of Lies is an assortment of every kind of epic and breathtaking emotions held together by the flawless and unique writing. C.D. Reiss makes perfection look so easy.
I always find myself in this “difficult-to-articulate-my-feelings” state after finishing any C.D. Reiss story. Like she literally made my synapses misfire and my heart short circuit! Even something cliche as a marriage of convenience romance transformed into something special in her hand. Logan Crowne needs to get married to continue running the Crowne Industries that is his everything. Ella Papillone needs money to get back her father’s legendary company from her stepmother. Sounds easy. Complicated as hell in reality.
Because they apparently don’t belong together. Logan is the workaholic, boring, rule following, controlling, overwhelming , arrogant, dominating and fixed in his ways kind of alpha. And who doesn’t know that C.D.Reiss holds the copyright to the best alphaholes I would ever read. And on the other hand, Ella is a free spirited, creatively talented, a bit reckless, lively and passionate girl. They have this electrically charged chemistry between them. Something that C.D. Reiss was successful in transferring from the pages to my heart and body. They pledged not to fall in love but their conflicting, colliding and powerful emotions make it impossible. Ella does not think she can be the boring and proper wife Logan wants. And Logan thinks he will break Ella by intruding her world. But they basically make eac other better. Happy. Whole. Meeting in the midway will be one heartaching, swoony, intense and angsty affair. But C.D.Reiss played all the right moves and my heart had no chance. And did I say it was super steamy? Like toe curling, goosebumping, panty melting hot? The Crownes have dirty mouth, smart mind and gorgeous body for sure. A lethal combination. The story can also boast of some detailed and very important secondary characters.
You have not read romance till you have read C.D.Reiss. I honestly believe it. Her writing has it’s own barcode. Because no one can replicate this addictive, ecstatic, flawless and intricate in simplicity style.
Received ARC for honest review.

I voluntarily read an ARC of this book in exchange for honest review.
I had read Iron Crowne before this and was intrigued by Logan in that. I jumped up the opportunity to know more about him. Unfortunately, for me, this book didn’t hold my expectation. We see at the end of Iron Crowne, Ted Crowne informing Logan Crowne that he needs to get married and settled and enjoy his personal life equally and only then he can take back the full control of his father’s company. So now Logan needs a wife in order to take full control of his father’s company. What sort of women does he choose? How well will it be between these two?
Ella Papillion was nothing that I expected Logan to pursue. She is a free-spirited, pierced up artist who is complete opposite of Logan. She agrees to the marriage to suit her own goals. Logan, a workaholic whose ideas about marriage are a little outdated. According to himself, he is boring, and no one would stick around longer and comes first apart from his work so he would never choose to marry one. When his father issues him an ultimatum that requires him to seek out a wife, Logan finds himself entering a marriage of convenience with a woman who is the total opposite of everything he ever envisioned his wife being. Now it looks a perfect arrangement for both.
I’ll be honest and say that this didn’t quite go how I expected it to – which is both good and bad. I mostly like the forced closeness and the slow burn that naturally comes as the couple begins to learn more about each other. This takes a different path here. Ella’s presence makes him realise what really matters. Similarly, Ella realises what she really wants from her life. Logan is a cold, unemotional guy and remains that way for a significant portion of the book. The emotions displayed were good, but the actually small things to build relationship b/w them were not highlighted well.
In the story there was a lot of talk related to business issues that tended to be long and monotonous. I liked the scenes with Ella and her stepmother Bianca, the misunderstanding and the way they clear it was good. I was more intrigued by Colton in this. However, book took in a different direction in the end. I’m definitely intrigued to know more about Dante and Mindy.
So, to conclude Crowne of Lies is enjoyable read. While I enjoyed it, it was a bit hard to really lose myself in the story. I still encourage everyone to give it a go.

I enjoyed this 4 star story that was quite entertaining.
Logan needs a wife in order to take full control of his father’s company. Ella is a free spirited woman who needs this marriage to get something of her own. Now they have to make it work for at least a year. It’s about to get complicated.
This was a marriage of convenience that turns into something more. They had chemistry from the start. The characters were unique and different from one other. Opposites attract. Beautifully written with a storyline that flowed well.
My only thing for this story, there was a lot of talk of business related issues that tended to be long and monotonous.
Standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I recommend this story.
I enjoyed reading Logan and Ella’s story! Crowne of Lies starts with and amazing twist that will have you wondering where C.D. Reiss is going to take us too. Logan’s life changes within a blink of an eye. I love how he still believes that one day he will find his girl that he will spend the rest of his life with. He is hard working and is ready to finish taking over the world…until his dad pulls the rug from underneath him.
Ella is a doll! Down to earth and ready to show others that she is ready to dominate. Then Logan came along and well….lets say their chemistry was amazing even before they accepted it.
Crowne of Lies is a story that will have your head spinning and yelling at the characters. I loved it and how the ending intertwined with Ella and Logan. You need to read this book and see what I am talking about!
In order for Logan Crowne to have full control of Crowne Ind., his father is pushing him towards marriage. Outraged and hurt over this decree Logan is looking for someone to fake marry for a year. Logan’s friend, Mandy, points him toward a former schoolmate of theirs, Ella Papillion.
Ella is slightly lost. She feels like she owes her deceased father to run his fashion company that is slowly circling the drain. With a fake marriage to Logan she would have the funds to buy out the company from her step mother.
But the more time they spend together the more they become attached to each other. But Ella also feels lost with no direction, like she is giving up pieces of herself to act a dutiful wife to Logan.
So what happens when the year is up? You’ll definitely need to one-click now to find out.
Fake marriages, or marriages of convenience are fascinating stories. The reasons behind why people fall into these scenarios are vast and the outcomes unpredictable. When I got to the end of Iron Crowne and read the epilogue with the Patriarch, Ted Crowne informing Logan Crowne he needed o get married, I was instantly on board for this. How was he going to do that, considering he didn’t even have women on the mind, spending all of his time at Crowne Industries? What kind of woman would he look for?
Ella Papillion was nothing that I expected Logan to pursue. I don’t think she would have been at all if they both didn’t need to gain something from this union. She is a free-spirited, pierced up artist who is the complete opposite of Logan. But she is trying desperately to fulfill a promise she made to her dying father to protect the family name, which essentially is the same thing Logan thinks he’s doing by maintaining control of Crowne Industries.
I love reading about two people who enter these types of arrangements and how they get to know each other. And I love reading about how they both steadfastly maintain that it’s just a business arrangement, but then those pesky feelings and emotions creep in, and the next thing you know, there’s no living without the other person.
Logan comes across as this nonfeeling businessman, but behind closed doors, he’s actually a vary passionate, dominant alpha type dude who knows how to pleasure a woman. Lucky, lucky Ella! And Ella is quite a passionate person in her own right, not only in her art but in her friendships and those she holds the closest to her heart. Now, if these two can just figure out how to communicate their true feelings to each other without showing vulnerability or giving up power, they might just have an amazing future together!
As always, it is a true joy to read Christine’s words, her lyrical prose sweeps me away on every page. I was highly invested to see how Logan and Ella navigated this minefield of lies they were telling their family and friends, but most especially themselves. And at what point in time were their true feelings for each other going to surface, and what would they do with those revelations?
Throughout the book, I was convinced I knew who the next book was going to be about, but at the very end, Christine threw me a curveball and set up the two characters who we’ll be reading about next and I must say, I am quite intrigued with this Crowne brother who we know virtually nothing about. This is going to be fun!
Reiss has yet again delivered a magnificent character-driven novel impossible to put down. Read in one sitting, it wasn’t only her words that left their mark. We’ve been given another strong heroine who has the opportunity to resolve a long-standing problem. May it be the right or wrong way is for you to decide but one thing’s for sure, the stakes are high for both protagonists involved in this fast-paced romance. If you’ve read Iron Crowne, you’ll have met Logan, Byron’s younger brother and also be aware of the Crowne business and family dynamics. However, the beauty of this saga is both books can be read and enjoyed as standalones.
The book’s title is totally fitting, the lush cover so very Logan Crowne! Yes, he’s a drop-dead gorgeous debonair businessman, but life is passing him by in the office. A concerned family member he has undying respect for gives him an unnegotiable ultimatum with a time limit attached. The driving force behind his very being is wheeling and dealing so if he doesn’t adhere to it, he could lose what he lives and breathes for…Crowne Industries.
“…There’s nothing like anger to make you feel like you’re right to do wrong.”
Ella Papillion is the epitome of girl power! A nonconformist, her passion ignited all the feels in me, her courage to fight for what she believes in, to make a difference in society was a refreshing change. Wearing her new crown with finesse, she bends all her rules but is she happy? If the cat is let out of the bag, will she be able to live with herself after becoming attached to a family member who’d accepted her with open arms? And will Logan be able to live what he’s done down?
‘She was a warrior without weapons. A princess who needed a champion’
Even though it’s not easy for Ella and Logan to adapt to their new relationship, there’s plenty of room for them to reflect on what they really want, if they can be that perfect team in front of scrutinising eyes. Giving and taking on both parts, the problem lies in the fact that one of them wasn’t quite sure how to go about it and not for the want of trying, either. But watching these two friends’ weaknesses turn into strengths was more beautiful than I could ever have imagined, and them learning how each other ticked was pure and utter joy.
‘But my opinion of myself had curdled into a thick, sour mass.’
Wow, get your fans ready ladies, ‘cause the steaminess is off the charts! But what really floored me was how Reiss gave her all characters such depth, evoking every imaginable emotion. I loved the not so dearest stepmother angle spun into the story; the witty comebacks and intelligent dialogue between all the players is original, intelligent and at times, had me cracking up. Smile until my jaw hurt when Ella and Logan agreed to leave their comfort zones I did, too.
“But your satellite just thinks you’re the star, Estrella.”
But what you must have noticed in my review is I haven’t mentioned the sub-genre. Go into Crowne of Lies blind! There are enough surprises in store for you to make your head spin. Bravissimo!
“…If anyone’s walking out of this broken, it’s going to be me. I want to risk it, and if I bleed when you leave me, it’ll be worth it.”
