Elaine Halstead wins freedom from Lord Blackfrost. Yet the faerie realm of Arcadia stole many of her memories when she left. Now Elaine keeps having dreams of an unknown blue-eyed man and recalls parts of conversations with him, somehow wishing she could talk to him again.
When the stranger with the blue eyes actually appears before her asking for her help, Elaine listens to him and is willing to do what she can to help save him, as she knew he had saved her from the Lifeless Garden. Liam is Lord Blackfrost’s indentured warlock. Although she is frightened, he is still familiar to her and she trusts him. When she calls him by his real name, he is stunned because names have power. At some point, Liam had given her his true name. Maybe he was a warlock, like Pallid Valentine, but Liam clearly wanted his humanity back, and Elaine had the power to help him.
With the other faerie lords believing Elaine has something Lord Blackfrost is after, Liam promises to keep her safe from them. What will helping him mean for her? Is she putting herself in more danger? Can Liam protect her from Lord Blackfrost, his master who also has power over him?
