Fans of Patricia Briggs and the Merry Gentry series will find plenty to love in this steamy, modern faerie tale. Dive into Crown of Frost and read the book that started the Faerie Lords series.

Scary faeries and steamy romance! The worldbuilding is vivid and the characters–the hero and heroine as well as the supporting cast–are wonderful! Liam and Elaine’s love felt so real, and the obstacles to their HEA only made me cheer harder for them.
This is paranormal romance with the careful worldbuilding you’ll find in electric urban fantasy like the Meredith Gentry series. Highly recommend!
It was an amazing story. It was fun learning about the different types of witches and fairie Lords. It’s weird thinking about a female being a Lord but it definitely works for this story. Liam and Ellen finally being able to be together is a great ending. Recommended for adults who love reading about fairies, witches, and warlocks.
This book is not my usual type to read, but the description tempted me and I am glad that I got it. Since I am not used to reading about Faerie Lords, Warlocks, Witches and the Faerie Lord Realm, it took me a little bit to get into the reading of the book. This is the story of Elaine, a witch born with Taurus magic and Liam, the half-mortal son of the Lord of Blackfrost from the Faerie world of Arcadia. Five years have passed since Elaine escaped from Lord Blackfrost’s clutches by killing him. She doesn’t remember how she did it and only remembers bits and pieces of her time there. Elaine has been well hidden, but her whereabouts are fixing to be revealed and Elaine will have to decide if she will return to Arcadia or stay where she is.
Liam helped Elaine escape his father’s clutches five years ago and now he needs her help to help him stay more human and sane than more faerie and insane. Perhaps together than can bring a positive change to Arcadia and some of its inhabitants. I am interested in reading what the next book has to say.
This is the first book I’ve read from this author, and I was intrigued by their fresh take on magical factions that used astrological signs to determine each wielder’s affinities. I wanted to learn more about that – and about how their world and the more magical one is split (and why) – but it’s only referenced and never given much detail otherwise.
The characters themselves are a huge draw. Elaine left the magical realm years ago, sans any real memories of her time there, but still feels a pull to something, someone. Liam returns from that realm in need of her help, and together they try to fix what started unraveling the day she left to return to our world.
It’s a quick read, but an interesting one. Once I started, I couldn’t put it down. The characters, even those on the sidelines, pull you through the plot as you try to weed out friend from foe, and the chemistry between Elaine and Liam gives a sexy hue to the whole plot. I’m definitely interested in reading on to see what else we can learn of this world of theirs, and who else can find their happy ending.

A wonderful short story with great characters and storyline. Liam and Elaine are the main characters that will keep you turning pages with thier sweetness. Great story full of romance, magic, suspense, mystery, witches, fae and danger. I really enjoyed this excellent story and can not wait to read more.

I really don’t mean for this to sound offensive, but I can’t understand the hype this book has, why so many liked it. Don’t get wrong, there was nothing really bad about it. The writing was good and it had its impactful and intense moments for sure. However, for me there was nothing really there to draw me into the world or story. Sadly, I found it underwhelming and missing something.
The most noticeable issue was how so little was explained or expanded upon, especially for a book that carried so many elements. There were warlocks, witches, faeries, different worlds and authentic magic. All the tools to build an amazingly complex and adventurous read, yet I never really felt like the story took advantage of that. Mainly because while the story threw these different races and worlds out there it kind of left it there without explanation, like we readers already should know what it entailed. I mean, I got that Elaine and Jenna were witches, but then terms like Capricorns, cancers and Tauruses was mixed in with that and I never understood what defined or differenced between them. And warlocks? What exactly made a warlock just that? Were they just humans with soul contracts to faery? Or was there something else that made them warlocks? Even the faeries was left unexplained. Where there only faerie lords and no other faery? All of this I felt was kind of important to know to fully grasp the written world, but it just brushed it by, expecting me to know it on my own and move on. This made the story understandably a bit confusing and lackluster in some depth.
Even the the characters had very little detail or explanation to them making both them along with the story somewhat bareboned. I mean, the book was rich on some details, like what the characters looked like, about the magic they could do and even the struggles they faced, which was good. However, the most defining aspect to make the characters come alive was missing and that was their backstory. Sure, Elaine had the whole mostly forgotten Arcadia ordeal and it sure brought intrigue to the book. However, nothing past that was ever mentioned, like her childhood, her parents, friends, exes, really anything to bring some life to her. The same with Liam. Who was his mom? Was he half human? What was his life like before Elaine? The only character who actually did have some more personality to her was Jenna and she was only a side character. But she was given somewhat of a past with the uncle and the tragedy with Gabe, making her a more relatable character since her personality reflected that.
I truly don’t mean to be so critical, but these things was too noticeable for me not to mention. Although, I can’t forget to mention the things I did enjoy with the story as well, like the Adam situation, the intrigue of the forgotten ordeal Elaine went through, Jenna’s past and Liam’s secret identity. That is what gave the book some soul and twists that I could really enjoy and appreciate, especially since it made it unpredictable. Then we had the Lady of Briar and her undetermined stance as villain or not. The doubt about her intention and the twisted way she loved was very impressively handled. Most of all I enjoyed the ending of the book with the reunion and Liam’s fight for humanity. I am a sucker for HEA’s, and even though the romance did leave more to desire (mainly because of the characters) It was very satisfying seeing them come together as equals on common ground. All in all Crown of Frost was good enough for me to give it three stars and it has left me a bit curious about Jenna and Valentine and their future struggles. Curious enough that I might return to this series in the future.

So we follow Elaine who has managed to escape Lord Blackfrost of the faerie realm. She is a Taurus witch and is pretty strong however we find out is when she left so did some of her memories. However she has dreams of a man with dark hair and blue eyes. Liam, helped her escape and now he is back to keep her safe. There is a chemistry with these two and they do have some steamy moments. She should be scared of him but she is not. She realizes that she wants to help save him from Lord Blackfrost. So she sets off to Arcadia to save him. But somehow on her journey and meeting other witches and warlocks, I felt the story was getting off tracked. So will she manage to help Liam? What will happen? You will need to read to find out.
First in a series, Faerie Lords, by Isabella August. This is actually the first book I’ve read by Isabella August and found it quite enjoyable and different from other books of the faerie type I’ve read in the past. The book flows pretty smoothly throughout and does have a happily ever after.
Elaine escaped the Faerie Lord Blackfrost with the help of his son Liam. When she killed Lord Blackfrost during her escape, the mantle was passed to Liam. Elaine, however, does not remember any of this except for snipets that invade her dreams. She just feels something is missing. When Liam reappears in her life needing her help, he awakens more memories within Elaine. She remembers Liam, but doesn’t. Liam needs his name from Elaine to help him retain his humanity before the Blackfrost mantle steals it from him entirely.
But does Elaine dare to enter the realm of Arcadia again? She escaped once, but if she returns, will she be able to leave again? If she doesn’t help Liam though, he may very well end up like his father, who had trapped Elaine in his Lifeless Garden before Liam helped her escape.

No one could blame you for walking away.
It has been five years since Fairie Elaine Halsted escapes the fairie world and the Fairie Lord to the real world. The Fairie Lord. She leaves behind her true love. Elaine makes a life for herself in the real world working in a shop. She doesn’t remember anything about her life in the Fairie World. Elaine is teaching magic and is helping an apprentice with personal problems. Elaine leads a terrible life with an abusive boyfriend since shes left Fairie world. Also, she is having dreams about a mysterious blue-eyed man who she doesn’t remember. She doesn’t know his name or who he is. The strange part of it is she remembers talking to him and having feelings for him however, she can’t remember his name. One day a blue-eyed man comes into her shop and asks Elaine for help. Elaine tries all she can to help him despite being afraid of him. And she doesn’t know why. This book was really good. It read like a fairy-tale. It was scary at times and beautifully ethereal the next. The story is well-written with three-dimensional characters. I laughed with them and cried with them. I was very invested in these characters. lol. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and will not be my last. I believe that this is the first in a series. I received a complimentary ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
First of a series. Haunting, even if he’s a bit of a bulldozer.
This book is a great surprise for me – with some original takes on the faerie worlds. The characters are likable and memorable. When Elaine escaped the Blackfrost Lord in Arcadia, her memories were ripped to shreds, but a man haunted her dreams – and when she finally comes face to face with him, she begins to remember bits and pieces. The chemistry that these two have jump off the page, and the world building is terrific. When Elaine needs to return to Arcadia – to help Liam, she begins to learn the truth of everything.
The book keeps a nice pace and author does a nice job with this new world – and I’m definitely onboard for book two, which is Simon’s story – whom we met here in book one.
An Interesting Love Story!!

Crown of Frost: A Wicked Faerie Tale Romance (Faerie Lords Book #1)
This is an interesting idea for a love story.
Elaine was tricked, by a Fairy Lord, into excepting his protection. He trapped her in his Realm, Blackfrost, and intended to keep her forever!! We meet Elaine 5 years after she escaped. She suffers awful, fragmented nightmares of her time in captivity. They’re as close to her time there as she can get as leaving shredded her memories completely, she’s left with only small fragments! Elaine grew on me once she stood up for herself with Adam. Her Taurus magic was fascinating!
Janna, her apprentice, was pretty opinionated & brash. It made it hard to take to her until she opened up about her back story but by then it was a little late! Liam, who Elaine met in Blackfrost, was kind of scary but also hot, passionate & compassionate – When he was able to overcome his birthright!! Simon, a warlock, was really interesting, quite sad in his grief though.
Generally this was a good concept & captivating idea. I felt the writing was a bit disjointed though. The pace & flow was really choppy too, which I didn’t enjoy. I do think Simon & his back story is intriguing enough that you will probably want to read his book as well!

** spoiler alert ** For years, Elaine has been having reaccuring nightmares of being in a dark, cold place. Now the answers are within her grasp. Will she be open to what is in front of her? Will she allow herself to love the enemy?
I read this series out of order and loved getting the answers to many of the questions I had from the previous books. I loved these two characters and how they were both able to see past the facades put up. I loved how Elaine was determined to do what she could to protect him and not allow where she was to get in the way. Good read!
Crown of Frost by Isabella August is an amazing story to read. This is book number one in this amazing start to a brand new series writen by a brand new author for me to read. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about happy endings and paranormal romances as much as I love reading them.

Love this first book in the series! This is Elaine’s and Liam’s story. Elaine escaped Lord Blackfrost’s garden but with little to no memory of her past. She dreams of a man, but has no memory of Liam until she is in danger and the man from her dreams is there for her. Can she trust him, can her protect her? Great story!!!
Good start to a new series. The characters are good and the plot is different enough to be interesting.
I was totally captivated from the very beginning with the great storyline and wonderfully created characters that kept me totally engaged throughout the entire book!
Deliciously Magical.
I did not read this series in order. I started with book two, then three, now one (shrugs). This one is just as enchanting and riveting as the other two and I throughly enjoyed the storyline (including scenes and characters) the authors have created for their readers.
I highly recommend this book for your reading enjoyment and pleasure.
I received this ARC from “Bad Boy Update” for my honest review so I’m leaving this for your consideration. Peace.
This was an intriguing new start to a new series! I loved the characters. The story was interesting and the plot different from anything I’ve read before. It takes place in Arcadia, a fairy realm. Elaine and Liams story was filled with drama, excitement, pain and sorry but they finally get their HEA! I’m interested enough that I look forward to reading the next book in the series!
