The third book in the Book of Sindal series, Celeste’s story.Since the tender age of four, Celeste Whelan has known her duty—use her powers to defeat the Dark Force, a group of mages who are intent on overthrowing the Valerian government. Her erratic expression magic and her inability to master it give her the perfect excuse to seek help from the Dark Set. It also makes her the perfect martyr. … martyr.
What Celeste doesn’t expect is for the Dark Set to set her up with another expression mage, Zane Chambers. He wants nothing to do with Celeste, and the feeling is mutual. But there’s no denying Zane he has answers about her magic, answers that will help her steal the magic abilities from all the members of the Dark Set.
But the Book of Sindal—the book of evil spells the Whelan family has guarded for centuries—is offering Celeste the Crown of Blood, an offer that is becoming harder to resist. Celeste has a mission to fulfill, and she’ll do anything to do it.
Even if it means giving up everything she loves.

This was an amazing series. Denise and Alessandra answered so many questions that were left after reading the first two books. Celeste is an amazing character and easy to relate with. The ending had me at the edge of my seat. Without giving too much away, there were moments when I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I had to reread certain parts over, because I couldn’t believe that it went the way it did (not that it was a bad thing). I had no idea going into this book, where Denise and Alessandra were going to take Celeste’s story. There were many intense and shocking moments throughout the book that would keep you on the edge of your seat. As much as I wanted to know how it ended, I didn’t want it to. I hope we get to see the sisters in a spin-off. That would be amazing!!
What a really awesome series! I loved the adventure with all 3 sisters along with their protective, smart and of course good looking guys. This series had romance, suspense, thrills, magic and mystery. What more could you ask? All three books are so well written and the characters are so well developed. I loved that each book focused on one sister. And then to see them reunite along with their new found loves. Truly an unstoppable force. I like others was sad to see the series end but glad that it had such a satisfying ending. The only negative thing is that I couldn’t put it down so I read it in a weekend and then was sorry it was over. Mark of a really good book: the dilemma of savoring vs. devouring. Thanks to the authors for a truly great series!
This was the best finale to a trilogy i have read to date. I was looking forward to reading about Celeste and her abilities and to see if she stated true to her sister’s or she had gone to the dark set as they feared. We get to read about Celestes power and how she manages it (or it manages her) & this book does not disapoint. D.G Swank & Alessandra makes a fantastic partnership and I hope they come together again for a another series. All in all a fantastic book and series which makes a great read
Couldn’t put it down!!
Since Descended from Shadows I have been wishing and waiting to see Celeste’s side of things along with how she does her magic and this action packed conclusion of the Book of Sindal series was everything I was hoping for and more. I knew Celeste had a lot of emotional issues going on but I was surprised by what she was actually going through. Seeing her backstory as well as her emotions really was beneficial to the plot line and made me feel more compassionate towards her. Even after the first book, I wondered if she was just the flighty and careless sister and reading this book really helped me put it into perspective. Also, I was happy to see her happy with a love interest and Zane was a perfect addition to the series. Like the previous books, I think having two authors writing this series really added more depth and creativity to the story, but it all flows so nicely you can’t tell who wrote which parts. I think this book, and the whole Book of Sindal series, was a home run and I recommend it to anyone looking for their next great read!
Book three in this action packed series was awesome! This was just as fast paced as the first two and it wrapped up very nicely. Now I want to know what happens down the road for them.
They writers did a fabulous job of co-writing…after having read other books by DGS I couldn’t even tell there was another writer added into the mix. Well done ladies!
All three of the sisters had their own books, but each has made an appearance in the books. The whole series was a crazy adventure.
The Book of Sindal Series is a must read!
Crown of Blood is the fast paced conclusion to the Book of Sindal trilogy by DG Swank and Alessandra Thomas. As readers would expect, it is brimming with action, suspense and, of course, magic!
When we meet the youngest Whelan sister, Celeste, she possesses the most magical ability, but the least control. She also has the most secrets. Celeste has had practice with secrets, as she has been keeping secrets since pre-school. Her practice will serve her well when she meets Zane, who is her magical match. Like Celeste, his magic is expression magic, but unlike her he has mastered the control of his powers. Can Celeste keep her secrets from Zane and learn to control her powers? Can she follow through with her plan to defeat the Dark Set? This story kept me on the edge of my seat until the end!
This was such an amazing ending to the Book of Sindal trilogy! Celeste Whelan was born to use her unique expression magic to defeat the Dark Set, a group of mages attempting to overthrow the Valerians. The Book of Sindal is now offering her the Crown of Blood, but she still has an important mission to take on, one that she will stop at nothing to conquer. Swank and Thomas have done another fantastic job writing Celeste’s story. I loved reading about her journey of finally taking control of her own magic and seeing the strength that she possess deep within. It was such a surprise when I discovered that Celeste had a plan all along that she has been patiently waiting to execute. This book was such a page turner for me, and was hard to put down. The Crown of Blood answered so many questions I had from the previous two books of this series, and had such a perfect ending. I’m already planning my re-read of this magical series!
This was a very twisted story. You are going to need a stress ball. The way it all comes together is amazing. Celeste wraps up the whole story. We find out why she is so mentally unstable. We see the damage done by years of her Mom not trusting anyone and the prophecy she had of the future. We go back with Celeste and see what she knows and seen over a short period of time. I can’t even put into words how I feel about the Dark Set, Her dad and Donall. That was a bunch of drama. I am so glad to see Zane come through. I like his match to Celeste. I think they work well together and was happy to see him know how to help Celeste. It was a nice ending to the book. To see everyone getting along after so many years of secrets. I can see if needed these books could be open back up and added to later. That makes me happy. Great ending and all around Great book. Read this series now.
Celeste I may say is Bad Ass!!
She is strong in her own way, funny, sarcastic, intelligent and gifted. The chemistry/magic between her and a man… whoa! Gonna have to read to find out who!
This book of the series seriously topped the other two. When you think you know how the story will end, Major Twist!! Jaw dropping.
Not predictable in any way yet so amazing in EVERY way! I just have to say Wow!
The final installment of the Book of Sindal series was no disappointment! In the first two books I was always intrigued by the sister Celeste and I’m so glad we were able to get a book from her perspective. Celeste is a strong character who is on a mission and doesn’t let anything stop her from achieving her goal, despite her many obstacles and years of guilt she’s suffered. This book has everything from mystery, suspense, drama, romance, and solid bonds between sisters. A great ending from Denise Grover Swank and Alessandra Thomas!!
Crown of Blood was the final book in the Book of Sindal series and it did not disappoint. It kept me on the edge of my seat and guessing the whole time.
Crown of Blood is Celeste’s story. Celeste is the youngest of the Whelan sisters who have been protecting the book of Sindal. She had so much going on, trying to destroy the dark set, help her sisters, figure out her magic, keep the secrets she’s been holding in for far to long, and hold it all together. It’s not easy for her.
This is a fantastic book and I highly recommend it. The Book of Sindal series is amazing and you don’t want to miss out.
This book is fantastic! In the first two books I was left wondering if I would like Celeste. Now I know I love her, what a fierce little witch! In book one of the series I found her unstable and maybe a little mentally weak, in book two I was shocked by her strength in her magic…. but still felt she was mentally unstable. I still looked forward to this book… I know D G Swank always saves the best for last…. and as as I’m new to reading Alessandra Thomas, I was confidant I would love book three just as much as the first two books. Boy, did they deliver!!!! Celeste is amazing… I love how everything came full circle and we understood Celeste and her magic. To have answers to everything and see the sisters through…. was simply magical!
While I love all three Whelan sisters, and their love interests…. I’m absolutely #TeamLogan!!!!
I love the Whelan sisters!!! While we got some multiple POVs, I was so looking forward to Celeste’s story. I wanted to know and understand her and her expression magic more. So many questions were answered. My heart broke for Celeste as we learned why she was so magically unstable. Celeste is a fierce force to be reckoned with. May the gods have mercy on the souls that wish harm on her and those she loves.
While I’m sad to see it come to an end, I could not wait until the release of this book to see the conclusion unfold. I was NOT disappointed!! D. G. Swank and Alessandra Thomas really brought it all together with this one.
P. S. Logan is still my favorite! #TeamLogan
Crown of Blood rounded off this magical trilogy awesomely.
Celeste took us through to the very end, with many surprising twists and turns, but the path for the Whelan sister’s was never going to be a smooth one and hey that would be boring anyway…lol
I seriously love all three sisters they each have their own unique magic and personalities but they still complement each other as sisters can do, they are family and now they each have a partner their family has grown exponentially and for the better in the end even though I had my doubts about Brandon and Zane at times Logan remains my favourite because is he a rock that they all need to hold them together.
The ending was dramatic and there were many OMG moments but wow what an ending so much magical, drama action and adventure wrapped up here so wonderfully.
The Book Of Sindal Trilogy was a complete joy to read.
Throughout the series I’ve been very curious about Celeste and what she was up to. Should I trust her or not? Well, wait no further as this final book delves into Celeste’s life and gives us insight that helps understand her. I can honestly say that this is my favorite book of the series. I loved the strength and courage that Celeste had. And Zane is very swoon worthy and very much her match. It is a page turner that keep me wondering. Don’t miss this series!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
Wow! As I was reading this book, I was wondering how it was going to end the series because it seems like it could go on!. But man did DG Swank knock it out of the park! I love how each sister got their own book and they each had a different tone due to their personalities. And in this last book you got a little taste of all of them. Great series….as always!
Whoa! This book sucked me in from page one. I loved Phoebe and Rowan’s stories in the series but Celeste’s story blows them away. What an awesome ending to a fabulous series! I love Celeste! In the other books, the authors make you think that she is weak, irresponsible and her powers erratic. Winds up she is so smart, strong, powerful, and cunning (in a good way)! There are different characters introduced and a ton of cross-over characters from the other two books. Many of them left me wondering who Celeste should be trusting throughout the book. I had a hard time putting this one down – I wish there were more books to the series because I like the plot and the characters so much but I am very happy with the way that everything was wrapped up. Great read!!
Side note: I know you aren’t supposed to judge a book by it’s cover but damn that is one stunning cover! Absolutely love it!
Great ending to the series. Celeste finally gets to tell her story and it does not disappoint. With twists and turns you never know what’s going to happen. And then there’s Zane. Absolutely loved this character. He’s the perfect counterpart to Celeste.
This is the third and final book in this amazing series. While I was so excited for it to come out, I am also sad to see it end. I absolutely loved getting to know each and every one of the sisters and their stories.
In this book, we learn more about Celeste and the workings of her mind. You will laugh, cry and get angry as read this amazing story. She is a truly remarkable woman
While I am truly sad to see it end, I am glad that so many questions that I have had are answered. I enjoyed this series more than I can ever put into words.
********3.5 Stars******
Crown of Blood was a satisfying conclusion in this fun trilogy. Celeste, the youngest and most volatile sister takes center stage as she tries to put an end the Dark Set machinations.
What I liked:
-I enjoyed how action-packed this final book was. It made the book fun and I was never bored
-The authors still were able to still throw in some nice twist in the book too. I won’t give any spoilers but my heart did break for Celeste and the burden she carried at so young an age
-I did enjoy Zack and Celeste. As we every couple in this book, the author did a great job of paring these sisters off and picking the right compliment for these sisters. Celeste was so lost and alone and finally found the one person who could understand her completely and offer the help she so desperately needed.
-I loved when all three sisters got together in this book to fight to save themselves and their world. The books true strength was in the relationship of these sisters. When the book focuses on all three it really hits it stride.
What I didn’t enjoy:
-If felt that Celeste and Zach’s story was a bit short-changed in this book. As it was the final book in the series a lot of things needed to happen that I felt these two characters didn’t get the full story they deserved. So their development as individuals felt way too short and too abrupt.
-The best part of the book was when the three sisters were together, fighting each other, repairing their fractured relationship and trying to save their world. While the series is fun and enjoyable I think I would have loved it more if the series would have been integrated from book one. It would have been great to see the sisters having to work out their issues along together while trying to fight the bad guys and falling in love.
Verdict:
-While the series may have some flaws, Overall it was an enjoyable read. If you need some fun escapism for the summer then you will enjoy reading about the Whelan sisters
