From USA Today bestseller Ella JamesAfter that close-up of his package on the sailboat in Morocco, TMZ started calling him Crown Jewels. Not that I keep track of Prince Liam. Definitely don’t stalk him online like my friends do. I’m out of that scene now. My family’s reality show might still be running, but I’ve been off-screen for a while. When people pass me on the sidewalk, they might squint, … sidewalk, they might squint, but most of them don’t scream “Lucy Rhodes” and ask about my love of Lucky Charms or how my broken toe healed.
Prince Liam—my stalking his Instagram—that’s just for fun. It’s my dirty little secret. Trust me, I’m the only woman in the world who doesn’t actually want him.
Except I’m back in the Hamptons for the first time in two years. I’m at a party, and Prince Manwhore is here as well. I tell myself that smile has no effect on me. That his ridiculous charisma is a parlor trick I see right through.
After our one night together, no one knows that I succumbed.
It doesn’t matter. It meant nothing.
Not until I see those two pink lines.

Crown Jewels by Ella James was a very enjoyable read and it is packed with lots of goodness and steaminess which kept me hooked and I couldn’t put this book down.
Prince Liam is one hunky dream male lead character and he was one that kept me fascinated with him throughout the entirety of this book. Though he was at first described as a playboy prince, when he met Lucy he is so caring and protective towards her. I love the dynamics between Lucy and Liam. Theirs wasn’t an insta-love romance but there was instant attraction and it was pretty hot! Lucy Rhodes is a sweet heroine and her introduction into the prince’s life came at a time when Lucy’s personal life was imploding. Lucy had this horrible incident happen to her and in order to overcome it, she had to branch out and move on, even though she wanted to try and hide from it all. From the very beginning of the story, when the reader is introduced to Lucy, she has already separated herself from the reality show that has made her and her family famous. She has made her returns to the Hamptons which is where she runs into Liam, who is known as the playboy prince and he is found in a compromising position and Lucy figures all the talk about him is true. Later she is at a party and a face from the past upsets her greatly which makes Lucy wonder if she is doing the right thing in trying to get out and live again after what happened in the past. I felt so bad for her and was rooting for her to overcome what happened to her. She was so traumatized and it made me wonder what all happened to her in the past. So there is that intrigue factor going on. So when Lucy and Liam end up having this one night stand in the bedroom , it makes this a believable situation and the emotions going on between these two reads real and true. Prince Liam is more than what meets the eye. At first he comes off as a huge playboy but there is more than meets the eye with Liam. His charm and kindness along with care for all of those around him ends up endearing the readers towards his character more. As the story builds and steams along, the chemistry between these two is off the charts, but the story is still more than sex. We get to see compassion, care, and genuine concern for the well-being of the other.
The plot of the story really starts after a one night stand ends up with an unplanned pregnancy. But there is oh so much more going on. There is something more going on with Prince Liam and that is the real story with the pregnancy the 2nd story line. I loved how both stories ended up consolidating into one. The story is very refreshing and the plot was woven very well. There is intrigue and suspense and there is tons of passion and romance. I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend reading this story.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *********
This was a intriguing, rom-com read about Prince Liam and Lucy. Their chemistry was off the charts. Prince Liam is definitely more than meets the eye. His hidden compassion, love and caring is beautiful. I couldn’t stop reading until I finished this beautiful, thrilling, yummy love story. Ella James knocked it out of the park with this wonderful story. Can’t wait to read more by her.
Ella James offers smoking hot romance with a twist and this book falls right in with what I love about her style. Liam and Lucy both come from places in the celebrity spotlight but it seems only the two of them cam understand the real version of one another without any explanation or fanfare. Their connection is involuntary and real, although it may have initial come from a public forum. Lucy is a reality TV sweetheart trying to make her break from the limelight and Liam is a prince, in line for the crown who has a rocky secret past. This one come with a secret pregnancy, loveable characters, and a lot of hotness!
Loved Lucy & Liam’s book! Ella James is such a fantastic and super reliable author for me. Reality tv star meets hot Prince…yes please!
I loved that this wasn’t a cookie cutter romance. The author kept you guessing. Lots of everything I love. Intrigue, heat, mystery, romance. Definitely recommend
This book is the story of Liam and Lucy. They meet by chance, though each of them knows who is the other one. She is caring, kind, sweet , smart, beautiful. He is also kind, smart, handsome and somewhat complicated. Even though he is a royal heir and she is a reality TV star, they are real people around each other and are sincere and honest as much as they can in the beginning, then even more as they get to know each other. It seems they live their romance in a bubble somehow, but seeing as he’s a prince, it’s understandable.
I particularly loved the description of the places, the castle, the grounds, the island. It made me feel like I was there as a witness to the whole story as it was unfolding. I really liked this story. I am a big fan of Ella James since I read Sloth and love how she includes some amount of mystery, angst, action into her stories and makes them perfect!
Lucy hadn’t had an easy life but then she meets Liam. One night will change her life forever but his will Liam react?
Crown Jewels by Ella James is a bit different from what I usually read from her and refreshingly so. It was a lot swoonier and sweeter. It’s not very angsty but I will tell you- the emotions cut the same!
Lucy has been a household name since childhood as her family is part of a reality tv show. But she has kept herself in shadows as much as possible. Then she meets Prince Liam of Gael in party where he protected her without even knowing her. They had one night together. Or they thought so. Because Lucy gets a surprise few days later. And she needs to tell Liam. And so she comes to his country. And she finds out he is not what everyone thinks. Not at all.
First of all, I read this book immediately after finishing Bridgerton and so the lingering effect made it even dreamier read. Prince Liam is just that. Dreamy. Like a Disney prince. But a grown up prince. Like with darkness and rough edges and arrogant beauty and complicated issues. Lucy is so sweet. She is a total sweetheart but also has so much sass and fierceness! The chemistry is…BOOM. Like fireworks and explosions. It was a weird and enticing combination of insta-attraction followed by exquisite slow burn. They resist and collide and burn. The whole shenanigans. In true Ella James style, this story has twists and turns.
Ella James never fails to make me fall in love with her stories and characters. She takes me on this amazing journey. Crown Jewels is another jewel in her crown.
I reviewed a copy voluntarily
Good for a “I need a royal fix now!”
Okay, it was the first royal book on my Kindle I saw, so I read it.
Good romance with excellent development. Good relationship exploration without feeling like an instalove.
Fabulous character development. We all learn so much about Lucy and Liam as the story progresses. Not rushed. Not too slow.
Interest world-building without getting totally hung up on it.
Problems: Isn’t really that bad in terms of editing when you first read it… but then you start seeing the errors. In critical areas of action, the wrong word just ruins the mood. Talk about a cock-blocker. I still see common misuse of words like when to use lay instead of lie, passed instead of past, you know. But these could had been so easily corrected. If the most common crap I’ve been reading lately managed to be avoided, then I was so disappointed when this easy-to-spot errors existed. I guess I was hoping for better.
I was also getting a little to tired of the whole “acting mysterious” and being over-enigmatic which plagued the first 2/3s of the story. That kind of crap would had been axed by a competent editor. I will say that even though Ms James could have fallen for the same-old same-old plot line templates, she managed to find a means to keep it from sounding so formulaic which is why the final stars’ count was a 4 rather than a 3.
Are you thinking diamonds and sapphires as big as a person’s head?
Not quite the right jewels…Prince Liam is a hottie of epic proportions. EPIC, as in he is big…
Crown Jewels is fun, funny, and entertaining. It’s just enough sarcasm and banter to keep a smirk permanently etched on your face. There is plenty of steamy make out sessions that advance past the PG phase…if you know what I mean.
And for all you Disney princess wannabes…hello, he’s a Prince!?!
reviewed for the Sweet Spot Sisterhood
Why do you have to disappoint me so? While Prince Liam was interesting, Lucy is such an awful character, she ruined it for me. Throw in a million different plot points – stick a fork in me I’m done.
I really enjoyed this well written original story and characters can’t wait to read book 2!!! Ella James is one of my favorite authors!
