He’s a killer. A mobster.
The last man on earth I’d ever want to be with. I won’t lose my head just because he’s hot, Irish, and has a wicked accent to boot.
He’s one of the only leads in my best friend’s disappearance, and I don’t trust him.
So I’ve got a few rules in mind when it comes to dealing with Lachlan Crow.
Keep a clear head and don’t get distracted.
Do what’s necessary and … distracted.
Fourth and final rule?
Throw out the book altogether. Because the rules don’t apply when it comes to the Irish mafia.
It was only supposed to be temporary, but now Lachlan thinks he owns me. He says he’s not letting me go.
And I believe him.
Lachlan.
I don’t know who she is. I don’t know why she’s here.
But if it’s my attention she wants, she has it.
The Russians want her dead, and now it’s up to me to look out for her. This girl is trouble. A distraction I can’t afford.
So why have I already decided she’s mine?
I’ve claimed her and there’s no going back now.
This is a full-length standalone novel full of hot Irish bad boys with accents. Steamy and dark mafia themes throughout. HEA included.

I normally don’t read Mafia stories but I’m really glad I didn’t pass on this one.
This is really a different love story. The story moves right along Don’t miss this series.
Crow is the first book in the Boston Underworld series.
Mackenzie is such a strong feisty character. When her friend Talia goes missing Mack will do anything she can to find her. To do that she must get inside the Irish mob in Boston. Unfortunately she hasn’t reckoned on the sexy Lachlan Crow. He’s off the chart sexy.
I absolutely loved these two characters. The storyline was brilliant. I’m looking forward to reading more in this series.
Warning Drool Worthy Irish Mobster. This book has a super tough heroine searching for her best friend and is involved with the Irish and Russian mobs. You will fall in love with the Bad Boy Hero and won’t be able to stop reading or listening to this book. Like a little criminal with your heart of gold hero this series is a definite read. Starting on next book Reaper and know I will not be disappointed.
WTF did I just read. My Mafia heart is so late to this series, but Yesssss Crow and Mack are #Exquisite. I’m completely invested. Mack is EVERYTHING she is so strong will literally kick your a$$. Crow…Yummmm he is so possessive and reliable. This is my first story by the author and I have already one-clicked Ronan’s story. I had all the feels, this is Mafia Gold!!! The chemistry was through the roof. I’m so impressed with the author’s world-building. I could write more but I’m ready to start Ronan’s story and overly eager for Alexei lol… I have a thing for Russians :-). Thank you so much for sharing your talented words with us!!!
I will be honest, most of the mafia romance novels are very predictable. This one broke the mold for me. Mack made this book! Her determination to do right by Talia drove her much deeper into this mob than she ever intended to be. Her confusion from her lack of emotions in the past makes her such a strong character. Her grit is fierce and she is a force to be reckoned with. Paired with Lachlan, a deadly power storm.
I just finished the entire Boston Underworld series and loved EVERY BOOK. Lachlan Crow was such a dark, delicious hero and all the heroines in this series are strong, determined women who’ve overcome terrible circumstances. I was rooting for Mack and Crow from the start and was sad when this book ended. This is one of the best mafia romance series I’ve ever read – definitely a gritty, sexy read!
So so awesome! Can’t wait to read the others in this series
Ever wanted to be a mafioso’s girlfriend? Not I. That world is full of doubts, worry, and looking behind your back. It’s a bit too much excitement for me. I just like to read about the grand love affairs I hope happens even in their world, and this story IS a grand love.
Crow is the first book in the Boston Underworld series as well as the first book that I have read by A Zavarelli and not only did I absolutely love this book but the Boston Underworld series has quickly become one of my favorite series!!! Lachlan is the ultimate alpha plus he’s next in line for the Irish mob!!! Mackenzie is from the streets but still has an innocent vibe so who would make a better Queen to this upcoming Mafia King?!?! I couldn’t put this book down!!!!! I can’t wait to start on Reaper next!!!
I read this book back in 2016. I reread it along with listening to it on audible. It made me realize how much I love this series. This is a story that will keep on the edge of your seat, biting your nails, and swooning at the same time. Its the type of story that you are not sure if you should root for Lachlan and Mackenzie’s budding romance, but you can not help it. Its dark, raw, gritty, and super intense. I absolutely enjoyed going on this thrilling ride with The Boston Underworld (again).
This book is dark and sexy. Fair warning, reading this book will trap you in to reading the whole Boston Underworld series! 🙂
The story started out a little slow, but once it picked up, there was no stopping it. Secrets, lies and betrayal run rampant throughout the story. Just when they’re not looking, feelings and loyalty start to break through. Knowing how they started though, leaves a sense of dread building up to settle in your chest. There was so much suspense, my stomach was in knots waiting for the other shoe to fall…and when it did, the fallout was explosive. Knowing his is a world where loyalty and trust is the cornerstone of everything, will Lachlan and Mackenzie be able to make it out alive after the betrayal comes to light, or is it too late for forgiveness?
Now that I’ve been introduced to this world, I can’t wait to find out more about the one they call Reaper~
5 KNOCKOUT STARS!
Mackenzie decides to play undercover cop to investigate her friend’s disappearance. She finds herself wrapped up in the rising leader of the Irish mafia and nowhere close to discovering her friend’s abductor. The longer she sticks around, the higher the costs. So what should she turn her back on – her past or her future?
Whoa.
After thinking about how to describe this book to future readers – for legit DAYS – I’ve decided to go the vague route. Sorry! But trust me, it will be waaaaaay better this way. The first few chapters are all mysterious and calculating but, suddenly, you will be thrown for a loop and sucked in to Mackenzie’s antics. This book totally lived up to the hype and I encourage all mafia fans to give this one a try!
Special thanks to Ursy and Monique for reading this along with me. xx

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!
My second book by this author my first being beast which I also loved.
A great Mafia romance with a tough mafia leader and a strong lead heroine Mackenzie.
Mackenzie is a tough chick the daughter of a fighter who was killed by the Russians, she is half American half Irish. When her friend goes missing Mackenzie plans and executes a mission to get herself into the Mafia meet up place, she first wins a fight against one of the mafia’s own then auditions to be a dancer. Mackenzie is hard, stubborn, and determined to find her friend what she didn’t plan on was to fall for The Irish mob boss Lachlan.
I was gripped, Crow was one of those reads where anything could happen at any time with the unpredictability.
A great Mafia read that will lead me onto the next book.
Hot moments, danger, action, told in dual pov’s, Loved It!
Listened on Audible I loved the accents, If you struggle with dialect while reading I suggest the audio which also brings everything more to life..
Lachlan
“Tell me you’re mad about me and will do anything for me”
“I’m mad about you” I repeat between kisses “and I would, without a doubt, do anything for you, for as long as we have together”
“And your mine, now and for always”
“now and for always” I echo “For as long as we have together””
This was the first book I’ve read from this author and definitely won’t be the last. I don’t normally read mafia books but this one had me hooked right from the start. I didn’t want to put it down. Mack was bad a$$ she could fight and definitely take care of herself but I felt bad for her because she didn’t have much of an emotional connection with anyone. She closed herself off emotionally and fought her feelings for Lachlan.
And we have Lachlan mafia extraordinaire for could be one scary guy. But I loved him. The chemistry between them was hot and the sexy scenes where explosive. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.
I loved this book. It started slowly, but then it captured my attention and i could not drop it until i finished it. Action packed, steamy sex…entertaining and so good. I highly recommend it. Now i am off to read the second one.
Grace is having lunch with her best friend, when her friend freezes up and the restaurant is met with silence. Under whispered breath Grace is told the handsome man whose presence has everyone fearful is a mobster. Grace doesn’t believe it and frankly wants to continue to enjoy her lunch, when he stops at her table though Grace becomes nervous and her sarcastic side comes out.
Lachlan wants to get to know Grace, she could be the one woman who could stand by his side. When he decides to court her he doesn’t let up. Grace doesn’t know what to think, should she heed the warnings from others or follow her heart?
What a way to start a series. Action packed and I liked that Lachlan had a dark side, he never wavered with who he was and Grace is a perfect match. Filled with intriguing characters, I can’t wait to read more of this series. Excellent
Loved this book. Mack was awesome and Lachlan was so bad and so sexy. I loved the intrigue, and I loved the way the author wrote the characters accents. It made it all more believable. I will definitely be picking up more books by this author in the very near future!
“Family. Loyalty. Honor. Blood.”
Crow is book #1 of the Boston Underworld series. There are big and small players in this syndicate. The Irish and the Russians are the powerhouses. The Italians and the Armenians are also in the mix.
“That’s the thing about organized crime, it never really goes away. When one power house falls, there will always be other players ready to step up and take the reins.”
Mackenzie Wilder doesn’t have much in life except for her two close friends, Talia and Scarlett. They grew up in foster care together and always had each other’s backs. When Talia goes missing Mackenzie goes on a mission to find her. She can’t stand the idea of her being forgotten or hurt. Even if it is to get closure. Mackenzie sets out to find her answers by getting a job at “Slainte” the local mobster bar/club and infiltrate the Irish mob. She is trying to get information on the whereabouts of her best friend and of other possible missing girls.
“I feel too much. But you wouldn’t know that about me. Nobody does. Because I’m always in control.”
Lachlan Crow is third in line for the throne of the Irish underworld and his reputation speaks for itself. This title comes with many strings and arrangements. Lachlan runs Slainte. Mackenzie has caught Lachlan’s eye but that may not be a good thing….
“Hell on wheels. He’ll kill you and do it with a smile on his face.”
I loved both of the lead characters. Mackenzie is loyal and strong, almost sacrificially so. She is also resilient. Lachlan Lachlin Lachlin. Hot, alpha, bossy. He too is loyal and even though his trust is hard to come by he looks at every angle before striking.
“It pains me to admit it, but he is handsome. He’s also more reserved than I expected. A calm façade to accompany his quiet broodiness. It’s a complete contradiction to the killer I know he is.”
The wheels are set in motion. Expectations, motivations, and…rats. Lives are at risk. I found this story fast paced and a page turner! What could possibly happen next???? I enjoyed the book very much! A. Zavarelli is a new to me author. I read book #4 Thief in this series and loved it. I wanted to go back to the beginning and see where it all started! Can’t wait to start book #2 Reaper!
4 stars!

“He’s acutely aware of my every movement, and I can’t seem to tear my eyes away from his. They are savagely beautiful right now and in the depths of their melancholy need.”
I have completely been living under a rock and kicking myself for not reading Crow until now. What’s worse, I’ve had it sitting on my kindle since 2016. WTF. I had no clue that this gem was just sitting there waiting for my love.
Crow is a gritty mafia romance that has so much drama, action and angst that my heart was beating frantically from start to finish. While this story focuses on mostly Crow’s Irish mafia and their possible alliance with the Russian mafia, we get even more action from other rivals.
I adored both Lach and Mack. He’s dark and dangerous but his soft spot for Mack had me swooning. She’s tough and feisty and fiercely loyal to those few that she loves.
I couldn’t have asked for more out of a mafia romance. I got brooding with Ronan, the dark and gritty violence that I expect for mafia stories and a bad ass heroine.
