Four minutes. That’s all it took to change mylife forever. I once had a purpose in life. Had a direction.Four damn minutes changed it all. I tried to live for my club. I was doing whatI needed to do each day. I was in a bad place when I met Lyric. She wasn’t much better.Together we found a way to move on. I found some sort of strength in her and shefound safety and love in me. The only question … safety and love in me.
The only question now is….

To say that a story surrounding an MC, surrounding one of their brothers, is beautifully written seems a bit strange. This story, Crow’s story is just that. A beautifully written story that begins in darkness and ends in light. What is his purpose when the only love he has ever really know was ruthlessly ripped away from him. Each year, each day that he walks this earth carries that painful memory. Each year he does the same thing, only to walk away for some reason. This year is no different with one exception. He isn’t alone. Someone who evidently is in as much pain as he is sits across from him. She doesn’t see him sitting in the dark shadows, but he sees her. He watches her until he finally speaks. She shares some of her pain, and he gives her what she wants, what she needs in that moment. And she in return gives him something that he’s never had, leaving him a bit bewildered, but still there. He doesn’t even know her name but he moves on wondering every now and then whatever happened to her. Did she ever find her happiness. Then, they meet again and this time he gets her name and takes her with him. Lyric. Her name is musical and as time goes on, her light touches his darkness inside and brings him happiness and calms the nightmares. She centers him. He gives her strength, he gives her confidence and helps her to build her self-confidence, to believe what he makes her say, “I’m Lyric and I’m perfect”. He helps lead her to her future, ensuring that she is on the path to where she is supposed to travel, and he loves her. He loves her more than he ever thought possible, and she loves him just as much. Their paths were meant to cross, they were meant to bring healing to each other’s souls. He finally understands his purpose and makes peace with that.
Their story is beautiful and the author takes you through this time in their lives, not withholding the action and excitement of the club’s business. She takes you through their pasts as she walks you through their present in a way that reads more like a re-telling of someone’s life with a bit of fiction thrown in for the sake of the story. It reads as a beautiful story of two people’s lives who have become intertwined when they needed someone the most and are now telling people the story of how they met, how they helped each other heal, and how they loved.
I have read many of this author’s works before, including this series and I honestly have to say that this is by-far her best work, that I’ve read, to date.
To say that this book will leave you breathless and speechless is an understatement. This book will do that and more. Prepare your heart for this highly recommend read. You’ll need to!
Wow this story was unbelievable it took me all of the place! Just when I thought that I new what was going to happen…….
Possible SPOILERS
Crow found a woman in a warehouse in a dark place just like he was but somehow she has this magically calming power over him…but then she skips out on him until he finds her a couple days later at some random diner…then they go for a ride.
Lyric is sick of her life and sick of her step-dad telling her that she’s not good enough, too ugly and too fat to find love so she is at a warehouse drinking & cutting to make herself feel better but she is not alone she meets Crow there.
Crow & Lyric have started a great relationship until Crow has a motorcycle accident…they learn that his is not good but they still want to enjoy each other for as long as possible.
Crow wants to give Lyric the world but…..
Crow is very different then, the rest of the guys in the Soulless Bastards MC but there is still darkness inside of him. Crow and Lyric are both people with broken souls because of their past but together they are able to start to heal old wounds. This book was an emotional rollercoaster but well worth it. This was another great book in the SoCal series from start to finish. Can’t wait for the next book from this great author.
So much pain in this story of Crow & Lyric. Definitely a page turner and broke my heart throughout the book. Another great read by Erin Trejo!
This is Crow’s story, you will not be able to keep your emotions in check. This book should come with a warning- Keep the tissues close. That said you will not be able to put it down once you start reading
Oh no no no! If you know Erin, you know there are going to be some real hard feelings and emotions involved, and Crow was no exception. I love that we finally get his story and the background to his darkness and it’s not what I was expecting. It’s heart wrenching and grabs all your feelings and bunches them up together. Lyric helps him just by being her and he helps her by helping her self confidence and knowing she will be ok. You can anticipate the ending during the story as it’s hinted at but it still takes you by surprise because Crow is no longer sure. If you’ve ever felt like you can’t go on because there is literally something missing, you will understand his pain. The last chapter just grabbed by heart and it didn’t let me know. It was like Tic all over again. Gosh, Erin has a way with words that even if I know I may not like how I may feel, I can’t seem to put her books down.
I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
PERFECT !!
Being a big girl myself it’s nice to read a story that has a main character that feels real to you and fits your body image .
Lyric and Crow are both broken , but together they heal old wounds and find solace with each other even though some things don’t change.
These two fit perfect together , by far my favorite couple and book in the SBMC .
Not only did the author manage to rip my heart out with Crow and Lyric’s Raw, rip my heart out with a spoon emotions. She also managed to mend it back together by the end of the book ,even thought the tears were falling at that last scene.
Speechless right now…
Crow isn’t like the rest of the guys in the Soulless Bastards MC. In fact he is completely opposite them. Yeah he has a dark, twisted side but things from his past have made him this way. When he meets Lyric things finally start to click into place for him but he can’t shake certain things. He has a plan, will Lyric be able to change it or will he continue on the path he wants??
This is not like any of the previous books in this series. Erin Trejo has a way of making us feel every emotion. This story is an emotional roller coaster and I absolutely LOVED it!!
Crow and Lyrics amazing beautiful broken twisted love story grabbed my heart and squeezed.Love this series ready for more
A part of me hated this book but another part of me fell in love with it. I don’t know how this author always manages to make me feel the deepest sadness of her characters and also the greatest love and joy of them as well.
Two strangers on a path of self destruction meet by chance and find comfort and understanding from the other that will lead to a powerful love. This was a beautiful, haunting story that will make you think about the decisions you make and the power and scope of grief and how it changes your life and the lives of those you care about. Crow, Gabe and Lyric’s story will likely haunt my dreams for some time to come and I suspect that I won’t be the only reader to feel that way. Well done.
I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
