Cocky farmer Eli Cross plays twice as hard as he works. But it’s not his fault that his nemesis dared him into a betthat Cross Creek would have a killer season.Or that the town gossip would catch wind of it.Or that the bet would drum up a bushel full of bad PR.Or that the stakes would get higher than he’d anticipated. But now he’s got to play host to a New York City photographerwho’s as ambitious … City photographer
who’s as ambitious as she is nosy
and doesn’t know a radish from a rutabaga?
No, thanks. Eli has secrets to keep. The last thing he wants
is some city girl’s nose in his business.
Scarlett Edwards-Stewart has photographed everything from end zones to war zones.
She’s confident she can ace this one little story
to help her best friend’s failing magazine.
At least, she would be if her super-sexy host wasn’t so tight lipped.
But the more Scarlett works with Eli, the more she discovers
that he’s not who he seems.
Can his secret bring them closer together?
Or will it be the very thing that tears them apart?

Love love love Kimberly Kincaid’s cocky farmer!! a great opposites-attract romance!
Loved the second book in the Cross Creek series!!
This is Eli Cross & Scarlett’s story that ends with a twist (they get their HEA). Scarlett is a photographer on assignment for her friend’s failing magazine to do a story on Cross Creek Farm. The farm is trying to get good publicity to increase their sales & Eli doesn’t help by making an expensive bet with a rival farmer. Eli gets put in charge of entertaining Scarlett & showing her around the farm. We see the real Eli & there’s so much more to him than he lets his family and friends see. Scarlett starts to see the real Eli as well while their attraction grows. They are really good for each other as a couple, she encourages him to speak up to his family in regards to reaching for his dream & Eli with his family shows her what it’s like to be a part of a close, tight knit family. This is such a wonderful, beautifully written book with all the feels!! You won’t be disappointed!!
Go for your dream and don’t hold back.
Eli works on the family farm with his two brothers and father, but he has other aspirations which he doesn’t feel he should reveal. The farm is in financial trouble because of him. Scarlett is a photographer and travels a lot. Her best friend’s e-magazine about food is in financial trouble. It turns out Scarlett offers to go to the farm for a month and take pictures of all aspects of it. Then her best friend will write the articles and edit everything to post. This is how Eli and Scarlett meet. This is a great story with steam, some difficulties between the family, and surprises. I love the fact that this series includes all characters in each book. It brings everything together nicely. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I love Kimberly Kincaid’s writing. It holds your interest and you feel all the emotions, too.
Living vicariously through Scarlett
Oh my, Kimberly! You are amazing! I loved the way you led into the relationship, and the direction you went towards the end and the open twist….eeekk! I loved the banter between Eli and Scarlett and the juicy scenes…pun intended;) I had chest pains and tears of sadness and actually laughed out loud at times while reading Crossing the Line! I cannot wait for book 3
I love Kimberly Kincaid’s books, especially this series! Crossing the Line was my favorite, though Owen was my favorite brother.
I LOVED Crossing the Line.
Kimberly Kincaid always tells a great story and this is quite possibly her best book yet. I laughed, I cried, I loved getting reacquainted with Cross Creek Farms and the Cross men I met in the first book of the series and I was totally caught off guard by surprise development late in the book.
Renowned photographer Scarlett Edwards-Stewart is the last person Eli Cross wants to spend time with but she’s come to the farm to take pictures for a series of stories in a foodie e-magazine – stories that just might save his butt after he let his mouth get him into a bet he can’t afford. She’s all Manhattan and has traveled the world on assignment but as we get to know her we discover a woman who is bright and funny, fiercely independent, quick to defend and eager to help those she loves. She is the perfect foil for Eli who we’ve seen in the earlier Cross Creek story as the smart-mouthed, easy going, lackadaisical youngest brother. Following these two through a month at Cross Creek was an adventure and I couldn’t put this one down.
I highly recommend Crossing the Line and I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.
Whether it’s farmers or firemen, Kimberly Kincaid books are always fantastic and this story is one of my favorites!! Eli and Scarlett are hot! They have sizzling chemistry (with one of the best first kiss scenes I’ve ever read), funny banter, and a strong emotional connection. I also loved the relationship between the three Cross brothers and their dad. I can’t wait to read Owen’s story next!!
I listened to this one in 2017 and liked it but it wasn’t a favorite
The story overall was good but this is the youngest brother and he was a shade on the dramatic side which isn’t my favorite type of person.
I love this authors work overall
I loved book 1 in the Cross Creek series about middle brother, Hunter. In book 2, the story is about the youngest, Eli, who has a strained relationship with oldest brother Owen, and Eli also doesn’t share the love of farming that his two older brothers do. In book 1, we see Eli as the laid-back, lazy, slacker that he chooses to have his family think he is to hide the truth about himself. Thelse characters have layers that must be peeled away to find the real person hidden underneath. They are an unlikely pair, but that’s what makes it work so perfectly. When the world-traveling photojournalist, Scarlett shows up to write a story about farm life for her friend’s failing magazine, she teaches this family of four men about life beyond the farm, but they teach her about having a home and putting down roots. It’s a terrific story, and it’s another example of why I’ve become a huge Kimberly Kincaid mega-fan! Now, I just have to try to patiently wait for Owen’s story
Loved it and can’t wait for you to read it!:)
Eli Cross is the youngest of the Cross brothers and is not the born and breed farmer his brothers are but he still has not ever been out of Virginia and is living and working the farm. Does he have other dreams? He does like to play harder than work the land and he really does more than anyone gives him credit for, especially his brother, Owen. When Eli lets his temper get the best of him, he makes a bet that could be financial ruin for the farm but now he is saddled with a photographer to help them out of this mess. Scarlett Edwards-Stewart is a photographer who is doing a favor for her friend and doing a pictorial of Cross Farms. Close quarters brings out the chemistry and banter between Eli and Scarlett and when these two finally start working together they can conquer everything.
I highly recommend this book, actually the first one too! Small town fun, great characters, wonderful family, romance at its best!
