Noah Parker is an angel.Sometimes he’s an arrogant a–hole. He’s smart, successful, and my boss. Did I mention sexy AF?And I convince myself I hate him from the moment I meet him even though being near him turns my insides to Jello. He’s been ordered to mentor me. So every day, all day, I’m working next to him.Noah wants me to be his, all the time, but he keeps me in the dark on the projects we … in the dark on the projects we work on. So I don’t trust him. And I’m definitely not risking my career over him.
Noah has his secrets and I have mine. I fight him every step of the way but we keep ending up in each other’s arms.
If I could only stop telling myself ‘just one more time…’
(Crossing the Line is the first installment of the It’s Complicated series. At approximately 76,000 words it is an enemies-to-lovers, boss-employee, billionaire romance with a HEA.)

Wow!! Maggie Cole did it again Noah and Pipers story was amazing, great grammar, great story line. Noah and piper both have their issues but they both worked through them and have a strong relationship. Noah is sexy as all get out and Piper is so beautiful she makes heads turn. They will steam and melt your phones and kindle’s with their hot and steamy sex scenes to the point your rubbing your legs together. Noah’s love for piper will melt your heart and have you swooning.
Piper works for Bennett Parker an investment capital firm. She loves her job and the people she works with. She is the youngest person to become a fourth-level director which is one level below Vice President. The firm was started in 1984 and Bennett Parker is an amazing boss.
Noah is Co-CEO at Bennett Parker and his uncles successor. He used to be a paramedic and lived in New York. HIs parents died when he was eighteen and he became legal guardian of his younger brother.
This storyline grabs your attention and deals with loss, secrets, danger and love. Piper and Noah have sizzling hot chemistry but they have to trust each other. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Crossing The Line is the first book in the It’s Complicated series and focuses on Noah and Piper. Noah is her boss at Bennett Parker, the investment firm where Piper works at. The attraction between them leads to a hot night early on in the book, and the rest of their story focuses on their desire to develop their romantic relationship and their struggles to overcome their painful past so they can build a future together.
Piper is dedicated to her job, and wants to move up the career ladder. Having only had two serious relationships before, Piper has made some assumptions about why the men in her life eventually leaves her. Noah has to work even harder to convince Piper to take a chance on their relationship and most importantly, to trust that he will be there when she feels insecure about herself. In contrast, Noah also has some depth to him too; he is suffering from a loss in his own past, which drives his own ambitious nature. Both Piper and Noah have to trust and communicate with each other to share their past and make room for the new memories in the future.
Piper’s first meeting of Noah doesn’t give her the best first impression, and she is positive that the hot mess she was didn’t leave the best impression on Noah. The sparks with the eye contact not withstanding, Piper is not happy when she learns that she will be working closely with Noah, in fact she is down right angry that this man may end up jeopardizing the position she has worked so hard for. Now, Noah is having her work nights with him, and lets face it Piper isn’t sure how long she can go without jumping his bones. But that would be unprofessional and would certainly cost her her job, but what if it’s Noah doing the jumping instead? What if the two end up going into something mutual, surely that would be ok?
This was my first read by the author and it will not be the last. I am now sucked into this world that Maggie Cole has created. I did find myself super not interested in the work stuff, and there seemed to be a lot of that, but the characters, they pulled me in. Now I can’t wait to see what happens next in this world. I give this 4 stars.
This is the first book in the It’s Complicated series. Piper is the youngest candidate for VP in her company. She’s worked hard to get where she is. Then comes Noah Parker. The CEOs nephew. Coming to take over for his uncle. He’s sexy as hell, and just as arrogant. Piper tells herself she has to hate him. She can’t risk her career, and everything she’s worked for on him. But there is too much passion, and every look ignites a fire.
I absolutely loved this story. Just like I have every other story I’ve read by this author. You have amazing characters, a great story that draws you in, and all the steamy scenes you could want. What more can you ask for in a book? Looking forward to reading the next book in this series, and reading more from this author. I definitely recommend this book, and this author.
This book had my emotions everywhere! I laughed and cried several times through out this book. Great book to start the series with!
Noah and Piper were melting my kindle. From the first meeting till the very end the chemistry was off the charts. Maggie Cole how do you come up with your ideas! You never disappoint!
Recommended Series and Author
This is the first book I’ve read written by Maggie Cole and I can’t wait to read all of her others. Piper and Noah’s workplace romance was hot. Looking forward to the rest of this series
Hot billionaire that is the nephew of your boss that you can’t stand, but is HOT!? Talk about a love-hate, steamy romance this book has the perfect title!
This one was not my favorite, but still liked it.
The first book in the ‘It’s Complicated’ series and Maggie Cole did not disappoint! Noah and Piper are enemies turned lovers! A very hot/steamy read!
Noah Parker, where have you been my whole life???? I think I officially have found my favorite Maggie Cole leading man!
What a hot enemies to lovers story!
For me, this was a really quick read. I didn’t have any major issues with anything about the story. The ones I did have were just little issues that in no way take away from the story itself.
Maggie Cole, keep getting better with every new series, and the series is a prime example
I love this new series so much. This is book 1 in her new series and I was in it from beginning to end. Couldn’t put it down. It is a roller coaster of emotions but the HEA is there. Thank you Maggie for another fantastic story.
Just when you thought Maggie Cole couldn’t get any better! Her second series is just as hot as her first and I could not put it down (literally read it in a few hours!!) Clear your schedule 😉
Another great book my Maggie Cole. This book had my phone on . I loved this book from the first page to the last page. First of what I know is going to be another Hot and Steamy series. I also love how Maggie tied this series in with people from the All In series (dad to the rescue). Now I can’t wait for the next one.
Maggie Cole does it again with this first installment of her new “It’s Complicated” series. Piper Cadence is dedicated to her career. After losing everyone she loves, her job is all she has left and nothing will stand in the way of her success. Noah Parker is the nephew of her boss brought in to become his successor. He’s now her boss. There’s an immediate attraction from both parties but Piper can’t allow herself to fall for her boss even those he’s hot AF. She can’t cross that line with him and besides that he’s an a**hole. Why would she want to be with a man who treats her badly? Noah doesn’t care about crossing the line. He wants her. He’s determined. He’s relentless. They both have their secrets which add a serious dramatic element to the story. Can Noah convince her they’d be good together? Will she surrender to it? Author Cole creates a brilliant push-pull scenario between Noah & Piper. The tension is high, the draw to each other extreme, the drama intense. Don’t miss Book 1 in this new series. It’s a must read. Highly recommended. A+++
Sorry, no spoilers here!
From beginning to end I was enthralled in the steamy connection between Piper and Noah. The line that blurs as it’s slowly crossed with keep you captivated until the end and leave you wanting more, and lil crossover action in between doesn’t disappoint (wink wink). Maggie Cole has brought yet another series I can’t wait for book 2!
Crossing the Line is amazing. He is but he isn’t. Piper doesn’t want to cross the line but Noah is smart and sexy and only acts like the way she wants him to act. Hot and Romantic! Love the friends and can wait to read more about them!
