“What I feel for you? It’s not healthy. It’s an obsession.”From the author of the #1 Amazon bestseller Pretend You’re Mine, Lucy Score once again delivers an unforgettable, suspenseful love story with the first novel in the Sinner & Saint duet.Rule-bound Xavier Saint has seen it all from the battlefield to the behind-the-scenes business of protecting Hollywood’s elite. His private security … behind-the-scenes business of protecting Hollywood’s elite. His private security firm is the best in the country, but he’s sick of protecting vapid starlets from themselves. Which is exactly what he thinks he’s getting into with Waverly Sinner, a second generation screen goddess. But she’s not just another celebrity on self-destruct.
Waverly Sinner has everything she never wanted. Parts she doesn’t want to play, dangerously manipulative parents, and a public life devoid of any kind of privacy. She hides the panic attacks and the pain behind a movie-star smile and plots her escape from the life she never chose. Until the sinfully sexy Xavier shows up to slam the door shut on her own private prison.
While sparks fly and their battle of wills heats up, a new threat materializes. Someone has been watching her, worshipping her, for years and he’s about to make his very public, very deadly move. Can Xavier stand between her and danger, or will his feelings for Waverly dull his instincts and endanger them both?
Author’s Note: This is the first novel in a two-book series. The stories take place five years apart so my astute readers can guess that this one doesn’t have the happily ever after we all love. But I promise, I more than make up for it with the conclusion of Xavier and Waverly’s story in Breaking the Rules.

Loved this humorous and steamy story that follows the life of Hollywood princess Waverly and her bodyguard Xavier, who becomes so much more than just an employee.
Lucy Score has left small town America behind and we are carried along for the ride-through the luxurious world of super stardom, where motives are always questioned, and no one is to be trusted.
Xavier Saint is hired to protect what he thinks is a vapid young starlet; Waverly Sinner knows her parents are only trying to control her. The sparks ignite quickly and burn hotly. They are both so much more than anticipated. Ms. Score never goes for the expected poor-little-rich-girl-meets-controlling-alpha-male. Both main characters are deeply complex and driven by a sense of responsibility.
You think you know the story of the movie star falling in love with her bodyguard? Think again. This book had everything I’ve grown to love from Lucy Score, and so much more. From their first meeting Waverly and Xavier’s chemistry drew me in like a fish on a hook.
“She swore she could feel the echo and pulse of his heartbeat from across the room. It matched her own.”
Also new for Ms. Score is the epic suspense and mystery in this love story, which I happen to love. After a rocky start, Waverly and Xavier quickly learn they have to work together to keep her safe. But as is always the case their path is filled with deadly roadblocks. What was difficult for me to read, but lent a sense of amazing tension throughout the whole book, was the protection that Waverly needed from her own family. They were the stuff of nightmares, but beautifully balanced by the wonderful supporting characters.
This is a cliffhanger after a fashion, but not the kind of cliffhanger that makes you want to throw your Kindle across the room. I can tell there was a lot of care and thought that went into the ending of this particular story. There is work yet to be done within Waverly and Xavier, their story is far from over. I cannot wait to see their respective personal evolution.
Lucy Score is amazing.I enjoy reading her books. She has a way of drawing you in. I would recommend this book and any of her other books.
Another hottie alert! This time it’s Xavier Saint of Invictus Security! I Don’t know where Lucy Score gets her inspiration for her alpha male protagonists but I wish I could meet them! Crossing the Line has everything I have come to expect from Lucy Score, suspense, hot steamy sex and a great romance. And her male and female main characters are perfect star-crossed lovers, even their names tell you that! Sinner and Saint, honestly Lucy Score, could your characters be more wonderful! The settings for the story are also incredible. In one novel Lucy takes us to Hollywood, Colorado, Greece and Europe. It’s like a magic carpet ride! There is a cliffhanger ending but I can forgive because the second book is already waiting in my queue for me to start. Lucy Score would never deny her readers a happily ever after, right!
You need to read Crossing The Line, fall in love with another Lucy Score hottie!
Phew! Talk about steamy! Going in to this book, I knew it was a 2 part series and that this one would not finish with a happy ending. Totally different from other Lucy Score books. I enjoyed reading it and cannot wait to see how it ends in the 2nd book.
Crossing the Line (Sinner & Saint #1) by Lucy Score is a contemporary, forbidden, Hollywood romantic suspense told in third person, dual POV. It’s the first half of a duet and contains a complete story, although there are parts that remain unresolved until book two.
Xavier Saint, co-owner of Invictus Security, isn’t too thrilled about his latest assignment as bodyguard to young movie star, Waverly Sinner. The last thing he wants to do is to babysit a spoiled actress, but her parents hired him and a job is a job.
Waverly isn’t happy about the arrangement either. She’s been putting off selecting a new project in hopes of getting out of the celebrity spotlight and going to college like a normal girl. She knows that her parents hiring security is really more about keeping her in line than about her protection.
Waverly and Xavier get off to a very rocky start, but as they get to know each other their feelings change and their white-hot chemistry is difficult to ignore. They both try to keep a professional distance, especially Xavier, because he doesn’t want to compromise her safety by getting emotionally involved. And Waverly has a dangerous stalker that continues to elude his security team. Eventually and inevitably lines are crossed.
Will Xavier be able to protect Waverly? Or will he be blinded by his emotions? Will her stalker follow through with his threats? Can a relationship between Xavier and Waverly survive the public scrutiny that comes with fame? Read the book to find out.
I absolutely loved this story! Both lead characters were very likeable and relatable. Waverly was smart, beautiful and down-to-earth with a desire for a normal life. Xavier was a brave, honorable, take-charge, alpha male who would do anything to protect those he loved. The story explored concepts of identity and personal freedom (or lack thereof) as they relate to public image and fame. It was sexy, suspenseful, witty, romantic, hot and steamy. I was hooked from beginning to end.
One of my most favorite series–Crossing the Line and Breaking the Rules are both must reads. The laughs, the tears, the mystery, Xavier, Waverly…..honestly this series is a must read. Come on over and join #TeamXaverly….I promise you will not be disappointed!
I absolutely loved this book series! Waverly & Xavier were so real & raw & emotion. I’m not sure I can put into words how much I loved this one. It had everything I live in a book: romance, suspense, mystery & wonderful characters!
Enjoyed the characters and the storyline, but the cliffhanger was irksome. Will need to purchase two more books to find out what happens to these folks.
Xavier is a hunky, somewhat cynical co-owner of a security firm. He agrees to be a bodyguard to Waverly, a bright, kindly, gorgeous actress, who is nothing like he expects. He must anticipate and save her from a murderous stalker, who follows them into the next book, Crossing the Line. (Buy both books at the same time to avoid frustration.)
Often funny and unexpected dialogue with thoroughly enjoyable reading.
I really liked this book but you have to buy second book to see how it ends.
Lucy scored with this one!
I really enjoyed this book
f you thought Crossing the Line was a cheating book you’d be incorrect. It’s about crossing the line between business and pleasure. Xavier has a job to do and he needs to focus, but he underestimated Waverly. Waverly is the daughter of two Hollywood legends. Her parents hired him to protect their daughter and keep her in line.
Waverly wants a normal private life away from cameras and paparazzi. She’s tired of playing by her parents rules of attending social functions and maintaining the public image. Waverly wants freedom to live her own life away from the expectations of her Hollywood parents.
Xavier is an ex-military man working with a buddy at Invictus Security, it’s a private security company owned by the two of them. Xavier’s used to working with elite spoiled princesses, but he hadn’t expected Waverly. He’s spent years honing his control and reining in his reactions to beautiful women. But
Waverly isn’t your typical Hollywood A-list princess. She’s rebellious, reckless and quite crafty. Unfortunately, she is an easy target for danger given the wealth and high profile status of her parents. Someone is stalking her, putting her life in danger. That’s where Xavier comes in. He’s been hired to babysit her.
This is my first read by Lucy Score. It was a free download. I see mixed reviews on Goodreads. I’ve read the reviews from both those who enjoyed the book and those who didn’t. I’m kind of in the middle. I’m unfamiliar with Lucy’s writing voice since this is my first introduction to her writing style. What I can say is that this book had too many minute details that bogged the story, which led me to skim.
I did like that the book had an element of danger and suspense with the stalker except those scenes were few and far between. Essentially this is a romantic suspense heavy on the forbidden romance. Sadly, Lucy explains too much, leaving very little to the reader’s imagination. This was a slow progressing story for me. It had some exciting moments, but not enough to keep me glued to the pages.
The premise is promising offering suspense, humor, and romance. Sadly, this book didn’t execute those things in a way that enticed me. There wasn’t enough angst or tension between these two characters.
No matter how hard I tried I kept getting distracted. I read a few chapters then stop. I really wanted to connect with these characters it’s just was not pulling me in like I had hoped. Those pesky little minute details describing outfits and interior rooms crowded the storyline.
