Eva never expected her husband to enjoy riding so much that he was ready to start showing. His competitive nature means more time at the barn, and less “me time” at the barn for Eva. She’s not sure she’s ready to go to shows with her husband as a competitor, not if it means loosing her groom and her groundsman. The tension over showing is hitting their marriage hard. Is Mark really working all … those hours to help with the budget or is something else going on? Old fears resurface and an accident threatens to destroy everything.
Communication is key in riding as well as in marriage. But can Eva and Mark work things out before it’s too late?

Eva’s husband, Mark, began riding to spend more time with her. Now he wants to compete in shows, as well. Can this marriage stay strong with better communication about what each wants in life?
I love this book and this series. They are all about relationships with horses and people caring about each other.

A well written story line that’s fast paced and pulls you in. Great characters you’ll love getting to know, the story line flows smoothly throughout the pages and you find yourself unable to put the book down. Captivating to say the least. Highly, highly recommend!

Linda is a great cheerleader as her pregnancy progresses too much for her to ride .
Eva faces a very active Mark, working long hours of overtime and riding several days each week. He seems very tired and worn. Is he on the edge of moving out again or is something more at play?
Communication, and the lack thereof, has some dangerous and frightening consequences.
The enduring friendships among the riders and families are a strong counterpoint to the celebrations and struggles all the riders and families share.
A powerful testimony of community

This is the first book in this series that I have read, but it didn’t disappoint. It drew me in as an avid horse fanatic who misses riding and the memories that this evoked.
Eve watched her husband, Mark, as he rode the gelding through the course that Cora called out to him. His seat was good and his grin said he was enjoying this thoroughly. Mark loved challenges, which was why he was already riding the course well after only a year of experience. But she didn’t want this for him. She liked the way things had been, his riding recreationally while she engaged in the competition. Now he was watching her, to pick up some pointers, he said. But she found herself tensing and her horse picked up on her anxiety. Even the instructor noticed.
This becomes an interesting study in how Eve reacts to her husband encroaching on what had always been “her” area. She is a professional. He assists with grooming and caring for the animals. But when he wants to participate in the part of it that is “hers”, it creates tension in the marriage as roles shift a bit and she loses what used to be her private moments. His eyes on her now in a sort of competitive way is not working for her. And it could affect her career and even her marriage if she doesn’t handle the changes appropriately.
This book was well done and I am glad to have had the opportunity to read it and watch how a much-loved activity can be a “bone of contention” when it becomes something to be guarded and kept to oneself. Grab your copy and see whether Eve can get her priorities sorted out, before she ends up losing more than a sports event.
This a well written and fast paced story that captivated me from the start. The storyline is entertaining and action packed. The characters are wonderful. Can not wait for the next book in this series.

Women: Their Horses and Their Men
This is a novella-length story that is part of a series. I have not read the previous stories but did not feel lost in this episode. I do think that a reader will find more enjoyment by reading the series in order. The series is about women who ride and train horses as a profession and as a hobby. Balancing the time commitment of that with a husband, marriage, and career can be delicate. It is an interesting story with lots of jumping horse details. I recommend for any horse crazy person. I received this ARC book for free from Booksprouts and this is my honest review.
