One chance encounter broke me; another could set me free.

Accepting the nanny position for Dexter’s three children will be my fresh start in life, but the closer I get to him and his children, the harder I know it will be to leave. I can only stay for one year, but all too quickly, he becomes determined to break down my walls.
He thinks I can choose them and stay, but I know better. Dexter doesn’t understand my kind of damaged. My scars run deep, but so does his determination. He has his eyes and heart set on me. Even our friends are joining in on this battle, a crazy bunch of misfits who cause chaos at every turn.

1. I do not do spoilers (and if I do, you are warned). Read the summary if you want to know what the book is about.
2. This author was new to me. What a pleasant surprise.
3. This is the first in a series. And it looks to be a wonderful series.
4. Now to the nitty gritty. Characters are well developed, even down to the children. When books involve children, I tend to see if the kids are portrayed age appropriate with actions. Happy to say these kids were. Dad was portrayed as appropriate parent frazzled too. Love that…it took away some of his perfectness. Our heroine had her share of issues to deal with. The support systems of both of these characters were wonderful…can I adopt them? And I expect all of them to have their own stories. I loved the references to Maria and Mary Poppins as well as the perpetual texting that was going on (and I’m not one who loves texting but an exception is made in this case. There was a slight cliffhanger which leads into the next book in the series but the cliff hanger in no way does NOT conclude the story of the Hero and Heroine.
5. Conclusion: Highly recommended. I’ll be looking for more by this author.

Wow, I was given this book as a ARC and have never heard of the author. That will change immediately. This book is so good I read it twice. Laine captures your heart from the start. She is sassy, loving to the three kids she is a nanny to, and so broken she can’t see what she has. Dexter is broken in his own way, a great single daddy, sexy, and very determined! Did I say very rich as well…. Dexter is struggling to be a single dad and run his company and has been through several nannies when Lanie walks in and takes over his children in a way no one has. He falls for Lanie quick just like his children do, but can he keep her or convince her to be his?
I couldn’t wait to get to the next chapter
This was an amazing read, there is only one thing wrong with it and that is we have wait for the next books I loved everything about this, the characters were wonderful the storyline completely captivating, I am 100% leaving 5 stars, Loved it

This is Lainey and Dex’s story. Dex needs to find a nanny for his son and twin daughters. Lainey needs a new start, she’s had a rough past and needs a new beginning. When Dex meets her something clicks, after his ex left him, he thought he would never find happiness again. The moments that Lainey, Dex and his kids spend time together are totally swoon worthy and makes you fall in love with Dex a little bit more. This was a great way to start of this series.

A highly emotional read that I couldn’t put down! Labor and Dec have wounds that run deep! When fate pulls them together Lacie finds herself slowly healing as she spends more and more time with Dez and his family!
This story was one about the power of friendship, family and love! I loved seeing how patient Dex was with Lanie and how much everyone rallied around them! It goes to show that sometimes we need to lean on others for healing and that is ok!
The ending definitely has me looking forward to Maxwell’s next release because this group of friends/family is one I’m not ready to leave yet!
I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Lainey and Dex. Dex needs to find a nanny for his son and twin daughters. I was enthralled with this. This is the first book by this author. Her very first book and it’s so well written. What really got me were the characters and not just Dex and Laine. Their group of friends are a riot and their conversations and messages adds a lightheartedness to the story. This was sweet, sexy, and fun.

Incredible Read!!!
This is the debut book for Avery Maxwell so I wasn’t sure what I was going to get when I started reading. It didn’t take long to realize I was in for one incredible read. Her writing style kept me interested from the beginning to the end. I know I will read more of her books, I’m already anticipating getting my hands on the next one.
Dexter Cross is the kind of man Lanie Heart needed. He has no idea what to do with the woman who came in and took over his life. The attraction he feels for her can be felt instantly. While he is used to always getting what he wants, it becomes clear Lanie is going to make him work like he never has had to before to win her over.
Lanie Heart is a strong woman who has face a lot of adversity in her life. Because of that, she has learned to be strong and stand up for what she believes in. While she is broken in many ways, she is not so broken that she is unreachable. Her protective nature draws you right in and allows you to see why Dexter wants to be a part of her life.
Avery does a great job of bringing their friends into the story. Letting you understand why they are an important part of this one. Leading you to see where this series is heading. If you love romance then you will love this book.
I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This story was so moving and emotional. Dex and his children needed help. He needs a reliable nanny for his three children and it seems almost impossible. Laine is a broken woman who feels she is not worthy of much good in her life. She agrees to become the family nanny for a year. Unknowingly she may just heal Dex’s heart and he wants her to feel like she is important no matter what her past held. These two people are broken but slowly put each other back together. After the year is up, she must decide if she believes in herself enough to trust the love and security that surrounds her. I could feel the emotions coming thru Avery’s story. She created great characters that you are tied to for the entire story. I highly recommend you pick up this book and dive into their journey to love.

OMG! Loved this wonderful book and would give it more than five stars if I could. I was hooked from page one and it ripped my heart out from beginning to end. Dex is a single father to a non-verbal son due his abusive mother leaving him and toddler twin daughters. Laine has suffered a horrific attack as a child social worker now looking for a stress free job so she takes the nanny job with Dex to care for his children. He is attracted instantly and wants to keep her for his own so he starts a text group with his friends to help him with his task called MLM (make Laine mine). This is absolutely the best book I have read in a while. I could not put it down causing me to stay up to early morning to finish.
I loved reading Cross my Heart by Avery Maxwell because it made me happy and at some parts get me so mad and at others cry. I felt so many emotions reading this fantastic book. It made me just absolutely love Lanie and Dexter together. Both Lanie and Dex and have had some pretty tough things happen in each other lives before they met each other. Lanie was awesome and funny with her comments when interviewing for the nanny position. Dexter was so alpha male and he pulled out all the stops when it came to Lanie. I loved him and all his friends. Just by reading this story, you could really feel for all the characters. They made you laugh, cry, show some tough love and just want to be around. It was such a fantastic story all around. Inside I was swooning when Lanie and Dex were together. I also felt that Julia and her parents were fantastic for Lanie. She needed those people in her life. This is the type of story you could read over and over again. I highly recommend reading this book!! It will bring on all the feels for you!!

5 beautiful stars!!
This is book one the “Waverley-Cay” series and can be read as a stand alone.
This book is about finding the one when you aren’t even looking. Getting a second chance at life.
Let me say this first, this book was this author’s DEBUT novel. To clarify, that means her very first book. Omfg it was PERFECT!! This book was heartfelt, sexy, romantic, cute, tragic and freaking adorable.
I am in love with the entire cast of characters. The end was a bombshell (but I will say I saw it coming). I can’t wait to read everyone’s books. My favorite parts were the texts between them all. These group of friends are more then anyone could wish for, for a family. They made this story that much better.
I am definitely head over heels for Dex. Oh man did he raise the bar for men. He is everything any girl needs. Swooooon!! I didn’t expect the depth I got from him and his kids are the cherry on the top.
Laine is Wonder Woman. Yes, she tends to run but given her past she is a fighter. I’m in awe of her. I love how she jumped in and took on a strange family just because she is a good person.
I teared up many times in this book. It was just so right. The most perfect of love stories. I love how they mended each other. How they shared scars.
For being her debut novel this author hit it out of the park. Great job! This is a MUST read!!
**I received this book as an ARC and in return gave my honest review**
Lanie is on her own. She is recovering from the an attack and needs to leave to get better for a bit. She becomes a nanny to Dex’s kids. There is Tate and he is close to 6 years old and doesn’t talk much. They there are twin girls Harper and Sara. They need her help to get throughout the day but what happens when a broken girl helps a little bent family they become healed together. This is an emotional roller coaster of a book. Everyone wants it to work and is helping Dexter to make Lanie his but there is a lot of things he is going to have to help her cope with to make it. Will they become a big family or will Dexter lose his love? Great and amazing book.
Cross My Heart is the first book I’ve read by Avery Maxwell and o really enjoyed her style of writing. This book was really easy to read, with characters you can gel with straight away.
This book follows Dex and Lanie. Dex is a single dad to a young boy Tate and two baby twin girls. His wife left him and abandoned the children as soon as the twins were born. Lanie, joins them as a nanny, after a traumatic event in her own life. The story follows the 2 of them helping to put each other back together with a few twists and turns along the way. It also sets up the next book in the series.
Lanie is broken she was brutally stabbed and it changed her she is afraid to get close to anyone besides getting stabbed she was emotionally abused by her drunk mother but was raised by her friends loving family…. She takes a job as a Nanny for Dexter who no good wife walked out on him and his kids a cute little boy who was left with emotional baggage and 2 twin baby girls ….. The minute Dexter meets Lanie there are sparks but not going to spoil anything but they go through a lot and with the help of his friends and her bff get their happy ending…… I cant wait to read the next book about Trevor and Julia …. I voluntarily read an arc …….
This book had my heart from the start! A single dad with great friends from the start hires a girl with a sketchy past but can he get through that past and love again?
This story was funny, heartwarming and heartbreaking but Dexter and Laine were great characters. The beginning of the story when Laine and Dexter meet for her interview is priceless and I just loved how it progressed from there. This is not all hearts and flowers there are some serious issues here but it’s done really tastefully. The book is a standalone but it looks like it will be connected to new stories and I can’t wait.
