Cross Jacobs was a screw-up.Everyone knew it, especially him, and the point was hammered home when Kallie Welch drove herself right out of his life. But, she’s back. Seeing Cross wasn’t on Kallie’s to-do list. She didn’t think she could avoid him forever but trying never hurt anyone. One minute she’s standing by herself and the next she’s accosted by a rich, velvety scent that could only belong … scent that could only belong to one man: Cross.
At face value, he’s divine. All rugged and confident with a smile that melts her right where she’s standing. It doesn’t take long to find him to be charming, witty, and the owner of a few legitimate businesses. Not at all like the mischievous boy she left.
He laughs and her heart flutters. With a touch of his hand, she’s dizzy. She’s fairly certain she’s going to die when he pulls her into an embrace and touches his lips to her forehead.
It feels right. It feels so right.
But is it?
Cross is a novella, originally published in the Team Player Anthology. Cross includes three chapters not included in the original story. There are also two Gibson Boy short stories, Restraint and Crash, included at the end for your enjoyment.

Kallie and Cross hearts are going down for the count. Kallie knew that moving back to Linton wasn’t going to be smoothest homecomings but with her job basically imploding, personal life on the outs, and her mother needing needing her its seems like a good time to get out of dodge. Its seems from the moment she gets back to town – fate, with a little aid from Kallie’s friends, are pushing back into the arms of Cross. Linton’s bad boy with a Peter pan complex, it broke her to leave Cross behind years ago and seeing again makes her ache. When Kallie girl left him, it was a was a wakeup call for Cross. He knew that needed to become a man worthy of her if she would ever deem to give him a second chance. When she comes back and he’s gotten his life on track there is no way he is letting his angel get away this time.
I loved this Gibson Boys novella. Cross had me swooning and kept me turning page after page. I just can’t get enough of these guys from Linton, Illinois!! Adriana has now gotten me hooked on these Gibson Boys and can’t wait to hear more.
This second chance sweet treat is the story of Cross who is Machlan’s best friend, and Kallie. Now that Kallie is back in town, Cross will do whatever it takes to win her back. Both of these characters were amazingly written with great chemistry. True to the saying, “where there was fire, ashes remain.” I loved their story and all these amazing characters in this new series. Not one you want to miss!
Cross by Adriana Locke is a second chance novella that is heartfelt and swoon worthy! Life in Linton, Illinois, doesn’t get much hotter than the Gibson boys and their friends! This particular novella follows Cross and Kallie who decide to take a trip down memory lane when she comes back to town! You don’t want to miss out on it!
PLUS… at the end there are two bonus books with a few chapters each!! One following Blaire (the Gibson boys sister) and one following Nora (the bartender that works with Machlan). It was so exciting to see what’s upcoming in the lives of these characters!
*This book is a standalone* If you enjoyed the first two books of this series (Crank and Craft), you will love this mini-interlude with Cross and Kallie. Adriana Locke is giving us a little bit of sustenance while we wait for Crank which coming out later this summer.
The romance in this novella is sweet but intense. As it turns out, living in a small town isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, especially when your ex has a reputation for being wild. Cross and Kallie have to figure out a way to each other without the hurt of the intervening years ruining their chance for happiness.
I really enjoyed the Cross novella. The Gibson boy series is full of a lot of hunky men and great heroines. This was only a novella, so I didn’t get a chance to completely fall in love with Cross and Kallie, but it was a good story told only as Adriana Locke can tell it. This is a great series and I will continue to enjoy the series. I can’t wait for Machlan’s book!
There are two short stories that are Gibson shorts and I truly hope they are just teasers of books to come! They were great!
4.5 Stars!!
Having read this in the Team Player Anthology I couldn’t wait to read it again! It’s such a great addition to the Gibson Boys world. From getting to see some familiar faces to the connection between the main characters I loved it! Cross is still my book boyfriend. It’s filled with heart, humor, and heat!
Kallie and Cross were once upon a time each others everything. When they run into each other after all this time it’s hard for them to ignore the past. These two drove me crazy and adored them for it.
With each installment Ms.Locke has my heart falling more and more for these characters. The bonus content and the short stories Restraint and Crash were all fantastic! I couldn’t stop blushing after reading those two stories! I hate it when these books end but thank goodness I can re-read them whenever I’m missing this world. I’m so excited for Crave!!
*I volunteered to review a copy of this book from the author*
“That grin–it complicates everything, every time.”
I love being around the Gibson boys! I read this story first in the Team Player Anthology, and the second time it was just as good (better, even).
My favorite part of this is the second chance concept. Each of them made mistakes, and I liked that they acknowledged that. Sure, Cross was an idiot, but Nora also just walked away. It was in these mistakes, though, that they were able to FIND the chance to create a forever. This is what draws me to this particular story – the fact that without mistakes, without fault, they would never have made it to their happy ending.
The only thing I wish was that this story was longer. I want to go back and know Nora & Cross when they were young, watch them screw things up & drift apart, and then get the satisfaction of watching them come back together.
Second chance romance is one of my favorite genres! Cross is deliciously sexy and Kallie was sweet and sassy. I was immersed in their story from page one and didn’t want it to end. Great quick 5 star read!!!
Cross by Adriana locke was a quick, fun, and heartfelt read. It is a second chance love story that will make you swoon. Mrs. Locke has the ability to write authentic characters and storylines that pull at our emotions. The story was thoughtful, nostalgic, steamy, and relatable. The only issue I have is that I wanted more! More of this town and these characters I can’t wait to get more of these Gibson Boys.
Cross is passionate, loving, and loyal. I love that he knows he is not blameless. He realizes his mistakes and his faults. He has evolved and matured into a more selfless man. And that man is sexy, supportive, and persistent in his pursuit of Kallie’s heart.
Kallie is independent, hardworking, and a little skittish when it comes to Cross. Her heart once belonged to him, but his selfishness broke it. Kallie is older and wiser or so she hopes. However, when their paths cross again her resolve is tested.
Dont let Adriana Locke fool you by saying this is just a Novella. What it is a glimpse into the Gibson Family and it leave you wanting more.
Cross is a second chance at love for Kallie and Cross. Cross being a cousin and like the Gibson boys, he is just oozing with charm. Now, who can turn down that charm. Not Kallie. Once upon lovers, who split years before only to be in each others cross-hairs again. Kallie left wanting to get away from small time life, only to return when things go haywire in the big city. Cross never left but changed his bad boys ways. What happens when the pull to each other is too great and both realize that feelings maybe buried but not dead? These two live true to the poem of “If you love something, let go. If it comes back, it is yours to keep.”
The two additional stories are of Blaire Gibson and Holt. A cute and sweet story that leaves you wanting more. And Nora Blaire’s bff.
With any thing Adriana writes, she leaves you wanting more. Lets keep our fingers cross that she gives us more.
I loved it!! I love second chance stories!
And Cross and Kallie’s was amazing! And you get to see some of our favorite Gibson boys!!!
Adriana really done a great job with this one!
There is also 2 additional short stories after Cross, they are about Nora and Blaire!!!
They we’re pretty great too!!!
I received a copy of this from the author. This is my honest opinion and review.
This is a great story that connects with you. Kallie is back home and Cross is determined to get back the woman that he loves. This is a great second chance love novella. The characters hold you and pull on your heartstrings. I read this when it was a part of the Team Player anthology, but I think it is a more rounded story with the added chapters.
Kallie has been hurt before by Cross and her last boyfriend. She has doubts that she needs to conquer and trust that she needs to build.
Cross can’t help that the ladies gossip about him in their small town.
These two need to find their way back to each other since they are all that they each can think about. Will Kallie figure out how to trust Cross and push away the lies or will her doubts and fear of a broken heart keep her away from the one guy she loves.
This is a great addition to The Gibson Boys series.
I am not always a fan of Novella’s i tend to feel i’m missing half the story… but i have to say, a absolutely loved this one, not only is it a super read, we also get 2 other short stories involving Kip and Nora, from the Gibson Boys and Blaire from the Landrys !!
Kallie left town a few years ago, leaving behind the love of her life, the man she’d been in love with all her youth. When things seemed bleak and she felt he would never mature she decided to it had to end. Now she’s back and Cross has matured and Wow what a man he still is!! He’s still in love with Kallie, but can and will she trust him again?
Kallie and Cross are characters you just fall in love with. She’s a woman you want to be and he’s definitely a man you would love to catch !! IF ONLY !! I do enjoy second chance romances and even though a novella, i had laughter, tears and smiles the whole way through and it didn’t feel rushed. I loved the friendships and gaining another little insight into some of the Gibson boys!!! Yeah this book is definitely a super lil read and i’m even more excited now to catch up with that Hottie Maclan Gibson and absolutely loved getting to know The Landry Family’s Sister Blaire more !!! All in all i totally enjoyed these short reads but they have left me CRAVEing more !!!!!
Adriana is fenomenal! Cross is one of my favorite characters from her and I have to say, she did him justice!
It’s a really cute book filled with steamy scene which means there’s something for everyone. Cross is a perfect novella to read in the summer evenings with a glass of wine!
5 give me more Linton, Illinois stars. Once again Adriana does not disappoint with this swoon worthy tale of Cross Jacobs, a fun-loving hottie who realized years ago he needed to grow up after losing Kallie to his rowdy way of life. She’s back in town and neither one has forgotten what they once had. Spending time together is not what Callie is looking for, but Cross makes it impossible not to fall for his charming ways. This is a fun, sweet, heartwarming second chance romance that includes some of our favorite cast of Gibson brother’s characters!
Cross by Adriana Locke is so sweet. I am loving this family already and I am dying to read more. This story was perfectly paced and the characters just drew me in. I was left wanting more even still. I could continue to read about these characters and never tire. I loved getting a more fleshed out story from the novella. I really enjoyed it and I can’t wait to read what’s next from this series and from Adriana.
Soooo good I read it twice! Love Cross and Kallie’s story. Left me wanting more Gibson boys.
I really loved this story because it was a second-chance romance, which are my absolute favorites.
Cross and Kallie are perfect for each other and their attraction/love are inevitable. Cross pulls out all the swoon worthy lines, but Kallie can not deny the feelings and affection behind them. Loved this book. You must read it. It is a quick novella you can devour in a couple hours. Only thing I wish for, is more Cross and Kallie. 😉
Cross is part of the fabulous Gibson boys series by Adriana Locke. It was also part of the Team Player anthology that came out last year. This one takes place after Craft but you don’t have to have read that or Crank first. Each book is a standalone.
This was a fast-paced but short story, it is a novella after all. But what it lacks in length is more than makes up for with drama and heartbreak and the angst all that causes. Cross and Kallie might be at odds with one another but that pull of attraction just can’t be denied.
Cross and Kallie were a super sweet, hot for each other couple. They broke up three years earlier when Kallie left town but now she’s back home. Neither can fight the attraction that never died, but the hurt is still simmering beneath the surface.
I loved this second chance story and the added extras just made it that much sweeter.
Cross by Adriana Locke is part of her Gibson Boys Series. Cross is a novella, was previously published in The Team Player Anthology last winter. It has been updated with new chapters .
Two Gibson Boy short stories involving characters from this series, Nora, Kip, and Blaire, are included in the back for reader enjoyment.
This is a standalone novella. However, it technically takes place after Craft, which is why it’s numbered #2.5. You do NOT have to have read Craft to enjoy Cross.
Cross Jacobs is a gym owner and tight with the Gibson brothers. Kallie is part of the troupe and she wants Cross, bad. But he knows it wouldn´t work.
Cross is like all the other books in the Gibson world highly entertaining, extremely well written and addictive . When you start reading this series, you can´t stop with just one story, believe me.
I recommend Cross and give 5 stars.
“A smile tickles my lips as her cheeks flush. This is the girl I remember and if I’m not careful, the one I’ll once again be jacked up over in a heartbeat.”
Kallie and Cross were adorably sweet, but equal parts hot. This Author has the fabulous ability to create characters you feel you know personally and love to read them! When I read her books, it is the sweetest escape imaginable!! I laugh, I get super feels, and always feel good when I’m done!! The stories may have been short, but not in impact! I loved all three!! Blaire and Holt’s story was off the charts hotness!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!
