I really love this series and this book was the best one yet! Patty and Ashley are hired to cater a wedding in Montana at a animal rescue farm! When the vet who is obsessed with the bride is found dead, the wedding is put on hold!
I love this book. It’s original and was well written. The characters are fantastic and in each book we learn more and more about Ashley and Patty! This book is a fun, quick read with plenty of suspects! You won’t be able to figure out who dunnit until the last chapter. I highly recommend this book and this series!
Croquembouche Murder: A Seagrass Sweets Cozy Mystery is a great addition to Sandi Scott’s engaging cozy mystery series. Prepare to go on a plane ride to an old ranch for a wedding, that is put in danger of not happening when a suspicious death happens the night before the wedding. Get ready to try to figure out what happened and for dark secrets to be divulged for the heartbreaking truth.
Croquembouche Murder starts off a bit tense for me. LOL! I’m afraid of heights so when the author points out Dizzy’s reaction to being in the plane…I could relate. LOL! Things seem well at first…though a bit troublesome with the plane hopping and the roads being out. Once the girls get to the ranch though you can already feel that trouble is brewing. This quickly piques my interest because I’m curious as to what is going on. The vet is giving grief to his assistant and I’m automatically looking at him askew. But you quickly see that there is more going on than meets the eye. One of my favorite characters was Cocoa, the horse. That horse is super mischevious! I laughed so hard whenever she was always snuffling people looking for treats.
I appreciate how the author gives me a nice view of how things were in the kitchen and even gave me a bit of chaos with the two farm/ranch hands who were supposed to be helping in the kitchen. These parts of the story helped make it more realistic. Piece by piece the story comes together and the mystery gradually builds. The author gives me a moment of suspicion with a certain character, and it only grows in bits and pieces, but I have to admit that I was behind the eight ball on this one. I normally like to figure out who the murderer is, but I was kept waffling a bit on whom I wanted to pin down as the murderer. But let me just say this…when the revelation comes out and all the pieces come together…I can’t help but feel bad that someone would be unable to let go of their issues and move forward toward a happier future.
I am rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. The story is written well and kept me page-turning. It was fun and I loved the animals. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.
Patty and Ashley have been hired to cater a wedding in Wyoming on a animal rescue ranch. Of course, things don’t run smoothly. Someone turns up dead, the wedding is put on hold, and the only means to leave the area (a seaplane) has been sabotaged. Now the question is, was it murder?
Another great addition to this series.
A catering job for an extravagant wedding brings Ashley and Patty to a remote horse ranch. Shortly after everyone arrives the body of a veterinarian is found on the property. The only for of transportation, a small commuter plane, has been disabled. The wedding is postponed until the police can arrive and remove the body. With nothing else to do and the possibility of missing her vacation with Ryan, Ashley is determined to solve the murder.
This is a fun cozy mystery. I love the characters both human and animal. In addition to Dizzy, Ashley’s dog, there is a mischevious horse and a sweet cat that steals a little of the limelight from Ashley and Patty. In addition to the wonderful characters, the storyline is entertaining. The plot is well-developed and moves at a quick pace. There are several twists and turns along the way to keep the reader engaged.
I received a copy of this book at my request, and I have voluntarily left this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced.
It is great to have Ashley and Patty (and of course the dog Dizzy) back in this adventure set on a ranch used as a refuge for retired animals, mainly horses. They are hired to cater for a wedding on the ranch.
On the eve of the wedding a body is discovered in a stable, and so the wedding is postponed, this gives Ashley a problem as she was looking forward to leaving straight after the wedding to go on a cruise with her boyfriend.
Once again the pair are thrust into a mystery with lots of potential suspects and lots of possible motives.
I really enjoyed this story, it was very well written, with lots of different characters and believable motives for the suspects. The way the mystery was solved was also very satisfying.
I did receive an advance copy of this book, but have voluntarily written this honest review.
Another great story from this author. Ashley and Patty (her business partner) have been hired to cater a wedding at an isolated horse animal rescue ranch. This should have taken only a couple of days, but as usual, something went horribly wrong. The bride’s old friend (turned obsessive stalker) turns up dead in a horse stable. The ranch was unreachable by road, due to bad weather, and the float plane was mysteriously out of commission. This meant that if the guy was murdered, not only was the killer one of the people on the ranch, but that couldn’t escape. Unfortunately, conditions kept the police delayed also, so Ashley decided that it was up to her to work out what happened.
This story was in Summer Snoops and Cozy Crimes: 12 Mysteries for Dog Days of Summer and was an interesting cozy mystery about a caterer doing a wedding in an out of the way place and interesting characters in the wedding and on the property.

Ashley and Patty are in the food business together! They get a lovely offer from Mr. Musgraves to cook for his niece’s wedding at his animal rescue ranch in Wyoming! They are up for the adventure and unique location to cook for this wedding. Dizzy, Ashley’s dog is invited to come along too!!
Unfortunately murder and mayhem ensue. The vet, Dennis who was doctoring the horses who were infected with a virus is found dead in the stall of Cocoa the horse. There is some background that the bride, Viv has with Dennis. Many speculations are started if he was killed due to jealousy or what?
Ashley keeps her wits about her, figuring out all the leads and never giving up on guessing who the murderer is!!
This book was a nice read for me with familiar characters as I have been following this series from the beginning. I was beginning to get worried about Ashley’s romance with Ryan and their cruise trip they planned together. Ashley seems to have cold feet about a trip together…. no spoilers here! You have to read the book and find out what happens!
I also enjoyed the setting with all the rescue animals. The horse Cocoa was a delight with her mischievous nature getting into food she shouldn’t and escaping her stall often!! Dizzy was fun to read about discovering a just born brood of kittens and adopting them as the “nanny” with mama cat’s approval! The various animals add a little extra to the story. Oooh I can’t forget the cat, Bebe has a special role with an unexpected happy ending!
This book definitely is in the genre of a cozy mystery without any major violence or sexual content or inappropriate language. I like that about these books!
I have received an advanced reader’s copy and this review expresses all my own opinions about the book!
Patti and Ashley are pet loving chefs set to cater a family wedding at an animal rescue ranch that is more than a little off the beaten path
Misplaced loves and loyalties lead to murder, and both people and pets are in jeopardy.
One benefit of travel? Being greeted by people you love when you make it home.
A fun and bumpy read!
Another good time with Ashley and friends. This time we got to go on an adventure in Wyoming. Loved the setting and the animals. Mystery was good but the best part is the characters. Always enjoy their shenanigans.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Yet another entertaining cozy mystery from Sandi Scott, this time set in Wyoming at a horse ranch for the stars. Ashley and Patty and Ashley’s dog Dizzy arrive by small plane to cater a wedding. Several horses come down ill with a mysterious virus that seems suspiciously ill-timed so close to the wedding. Then the inevitable murder occurs and the duo promptly find themselves serving meals for guests stranded at the venue awaiting the arrival of the police as well as a decision from the bride about whether or not the event is still on. Not surprisingly, Ashley begins her own investigation, uncovers scandal and intrigue, and is ably helped by Dizzy.
This is a very well-crafted mystery that kept me guessing until the end. The characters are interesting and plausible, as is the story itself. I had my suspicions about who did the nasty deed, but kept changing my mind as twists took things in different directions. I heartily recommend this book, which can be read as a stand-alone, even though it is part of an excellent series.
I received an advance reader’s copy of this book. This review is my honest opinion.
In Croquembouche Murder you will find sick horses, murder, wonderful food (I get so hungry reading books in the Seagrass Sweets mysteries!), a former love, a sabotaged float plane, a mischievous horse, a delayed wedding, impassable roads, clues, red herrings and motives plus suspects a plenty. Even if you guess the killer I doubt you will figure out the motive. This is a fast paced, well written cozy.. Ashley, Patty and Dizzy are some of my favorite literary characters.
Another great addition to the series!
I just love this series! This one takes place in Wyoming at a rescue ranch for older horses. What better location for a wedding? A stalker vet, a Houdini horse, a sleuthing cat and of course Dizzy! The roads are impassable and the only other was in is a plane that has been sabotaged. Was it murder or just a horrible accident? Plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing!
I received an ARC. This is my honest review.
Happy to read another book by Sandi Scott. Ashley and Patti have to solve another murder and make great food too. I like the way the plot twists and turns and I am kept guessing until the end.
Another wonderful book by Author Sandi Scott.
She never disappoints. I highly recommend any of her books…
This was a great book from start to finish. It kept you wondering what might happen next. When Ashley, Patty, and Dizzy are flown off to the ranch to cater the wedding things start happening. You just can never tell when someone will die and what might be the cause and it all happens and almost stops a wedding and keeps all of the wedding party stuck at the ranch for an extra-long time so Ashely and Patty are stuck making meals longer than planned, but they still manage it all.
I suggest you go ahead and just get this book. It is a great stand-alone book, but you will love it enough to get the entire series and read them all. So much fun to follow Ashley, Patty, and Dizzy as they go along on their journey in the catering business.
Ashley Adams and Patty LaFontaine have been invited to Jackson Hole, Wyoming by Steve Musgraves. He wants them to provide the food and desserts for his niece, Vivian’s, wedding. Mr. Musgraves runs an animal rescue farm in Wyoming, with a special focus on horses. One of the horses, Cocoa, is kind of special. She has a tendency to escape from her stall and get into all kinds of mischief. The only issue seems to be that the roads are impassable and Mr. Musgraves had to fly everybody in on his small boat-plane.
It seems that some of the horses on the farm may have a virus. Fortunately, Dennis Longley, a vet, and his assistant, Sabrina, are there to look into the situation. Dennis had a crush on Vivian when they were younger and some people thought he may have come to the ranch in an attempt to stop the wedding. The wedding is postponed when Dennis Longley is found dead in Cocoa’s stall.
How did Dennis die? Was it natural causes or was he murdered? If murder, who killed him? Can Ashley and Patty figure out the mystery? Will the wedding go on as planned?
Sandi Scott has another winner with this installment of the Seagrass Sweets series. There are plenty of twists, turns and red herrings to keep a reading guessing clear to the end.
This is the 8rh book in the “Seagrass Sweets Mystery” series. This is a great cozy mystery series yummy, fun and clean. They are a light read but I know I need that sometimes. I enjoyed reading about Ashley and Patti getting away to cater a wedding. Simple right well you would think but of course a body has to enter in to the story and Ashley just must solve the case. If you like to eat you will enjoy all the references to yummy food too.
I was gifted this book and the review is my honest opinion.
Fun series!!! Ashley and Patty have grown their business and personal lives a lot since the last book. The twists in the plot were great and kept the story flowing. Could not put the book down until it was completed. Really enjoyed the story and the characters; as well as the world building. Sandi Scott is a very talented writer and I enjoy reading her books.
