A broken soldier returned from war
This book had so many real life comparisons, beginning with the soldier who returned from war with PTSD. The author did a fantastic job of touching on this subject, but not dwelling on it. She gave Caleb the chance to overcome it and the chance to finally get his HEA with Renny. I love the way old enemies became friends, secrets were revealed and the family grew. I can’t wait to see what is next for everyone in Bitten Point.
Caleb and Renny certainly kept me on my toes for their story! Sweet teenage love, forced apart, emotional angst, secrets on both sides, and an unknown baddie on the loose. Between all those emotions as these two reconnected and learned to love and trust each other again, they gave me some smiles. I love series starters that set up what is coming up without taking away from the story being told, and this was one of the best
Eve Langlais writes some moving and very human romances, even if some of her characters are shifters. This is a military second chance romance with a flawed hero who can have really big teeth on occasion. I appreciate how his high school sweetheart makes him jump through hoops to prove himself – after all, some people only really appreciate what they earn, and boy, does she make him earn his way into fatherhood and husbandhood. This is a fun read and fits very well with the author’s other shifter romances. If you enjoy Cynthia Eden or Shelly Laurenston, you will enjoy a lighter version of their work.
3.5 stars. Start of a new series but shades of F.U.C series.
This book just did not hit the high points of Eve’s usual style, hence the 3.5 stars.
Very little laugh out loud moments like in Kodiak Point and a background story that will carry on through the series just like in Furry United Coalition. Evil mutant shifters due to the lab doing whatever it is we have yet to find out.
I did love Princess the Chihuahua, she was fun. Caleb’s surprise at being a father was great, he passed out, that was a good laugh.
It was a good story of boy disappearing on his girlfriend, going into the military and then needing to come home to sort himself out. I was sad when I read why Caleb left. How horrible to be tricked like that by the military but I would have thought he would have listened to his beast a bit more. Even with no father to guide him and find balance, he seemed eager to believe his croc was bad. WHY? I know he gave lip service to it later in the book stating he was a male and they never ask for help.
I think there was not enough explanation. Renny never asked why he did not read her letters. We know he was under the Naga’s spell but she didn’t.
At the beginning I really thought Renny was going to give Caleb a run for his money and make him work his way back into her heart, but Renny just seemed to forgive him because her body wanted him, hello, she is not a shifter so did not have that mating pull. Just a little too much of, well he is Luke’s father so that is okay.
Caleb redeemed himself to me over the story and while I empathise with Renny for being a single mother working two jobs she was not the heroine I wanted her to be.
Sorry, just not as good as what I expect from Eve. I hope she improves the others in this series.
I am looking forward to reading Melanie and Wes’s story in book 4. I cannot wait to see Andrew get his just rewards and I hope Melanie gives them to him.
It took several times to get started on this series, but once I did, I didn’t want to put them down. Not did I want to wait for the next one. It was great that they are related and out to help each other.
To be honest I have never read this author and what drew me to the book was the idea of a crocodile shifter. I love shifter books but had never seen a crocodile shifter book. Am I glad I did. I love this story, and the writing and the characters were amazing. It is the first in the series and I can’t wait to read more. This story is about Caleb who is back from the Army. Nobody is to excited to see him beause he left without any notice. Not only leaving his family but his one true love, who at this time wants nothing to do with him. Little does he know she has a surprise for him. Renny has a hard life, raising a son on her own and now facing the one man she loved and then he ran away. Their love story is great, but there is danger lurking around every corner. Now that danger is after their son. There is a Hea, but also a mystery that needs answers and to find who is exactly involved. Can’t wait to read more.
really enjoyed this book
Poor crock, run off and left his life/family behind without a second glance. Now he’s back and he has to change while saving his town and earn back the trust of the woman he left.
Kodiak Point was a great blend of paranormal romance, light comedy, and suspense. I was all on board for this associated series with more of the same just shifters of the southern variety. Definitely ready for some fun on the bayou.
Croc’s Return opens with crocodile shifter, Caleb, returning to his home after many years away. He has some groveling to do all around since he cut off contact with everyone and stayed away for reasons he couldn’t ever explain. He’s barely holding it together and that’s before he learns he’s got a son and his teenage love and son are in grave danger.
This was no light and fluffy story, though yes, the bantering and wise cracks were pretty funny. Caleb and his brother take swipes at each other and also Caleb and his old high school nemesis, Wes. But the big blazing issue is with his first and only love, Remy. Caleb and Renny have a chance to repair what was broken between them. She’s hostile at first, but mostly afraid because she never got over him in spite of his apparent betrayal.
I enjoyed how the author balanced the action-suspense side of the story, the repairing relationships, and the sizzling passion. The shifter world of Bitten Point is another small town setting with a few characters introduced though much of the story focuses on Caleb.
I’m looking forward to more from the series and getting that mystery solved that was introduced in this one. And yep, more of Constantine’s killer chihuahua. What a hoot that dog was. I can easily recommend the series to paranormal romance fans.
First book I read about a croc shifter. Kept me entertained and coming back to finish it
Croc’s Return by Eve Langlais
Bitten Point Series Book One
Caleb Bourdeaux has returned to Bitten Point after taking off abruptly some years ago. His brother is definitely angry at him for leaving…but he can’t tell anyone the truth. Either he’ll be forgiven…or not. And then there’s Renny. It was hard to leave her, and not it’s hard to see her again without her being his.
Renata “Renny” Suarez has hated Caleb for some time now. He left her heartbroken and alone. She’s done fine, well, as fine as she could do working two jobs and just getting by. She hates how she reacts to seeing him; still wanting him after all that he’s done.
Fighting against his past that had him leaving and the monster that lives within him is all put aside when danger comes to the town of Bitten Point and Caleb needs to step up and protect those he loves. The story kept me turning the pages from beginning to end.

Loved the book, so funny and steamy, love her books!
Very different…shape shifters
Not enough story
This book was so so.
I really enjoyed this- who knew crocs were sexy?!?
Just not for me. Couldn’t hold my attention
Didn’t finish it
A basic little love story where the shifter elements are basically not needed
This book was alright, but was too drawn out. Too many pages of insecurity on both sides… “he likes me… he’s not interested…” etc. Got repetitive and a bit boring.
I actually liked this book it was well written and I liked the idea of a were croc
