The next generation – the children of Snow White, Cinderella, and others – have lives and stories of their own. And not just long ago and far away but (sort of) here and now! Enjoy! I was going to be a great protagonist. At least that’s what my mom, Cinderella, kept telling me. I, however, had my doubts. Unlike most main characters at Lady Agnue’s School for Princesses & Other Female … & Other Female Protagonists, I was opinionated, bold, and headstrong. Moreover, for a princess, I had a lot of issues. I’m talking vicious nightmares about people I’ve never met, a total stalker prince, and a Fairy Godmother for an enemy.
But I digress. Because here’s the thing about living in an enchanted realm of fairytale characters, crazy junk you never planned on happens all the time. One minute you could be practicing fainting exercises in Damsels in Distress class, sword fighting in a field, or flying on a Pegasus, and the next, BAM! Your book has begun and you’re saddled with a prophecy that changes everything.
I still don’t know if I will be a great protagonist one day. But I know one thing about my fate, for certain. Despite what The Author and the antagonists have in store for me, whatever it costs. . .I’ll be the one taking charge of my own story..

I love reading and this caught my eye I love fairy tales and even though I’m older I still like to read stuff like this well done
Crisanta Knight, daughter of Cinderella, has had her life mapped since the day she was born. Everyone in the land of Book has their role to play, already chosen for them, by the Author. Crisanta does not want to play this fated part and be an ordinary princess…she wants to like a pumpkin…and become something more than people expect. How she is going to accomplish this, has yet to be figured out. But then when has the impossible ever stopped her from trying?
Ok, I told myself no more series until I finish the ones I already have on my plate, or at least a majority of them. However, when the author contacted me about reading this one, I just couldn’t pass it up. I’m so very glad I didn’t. This is a fantastically fun fairy tale based journey that is well written, well paced, and perfect for YA fans. I would say the target readers are middle grade to early high school. BUT who doesn’t love to lose themselves in fantasy like this at any age?
Crisanta Knight is a wonderful MC as she comes into her own… finding the courage and strength of character she needs to fight against the norm of who the Author says she has to be. Her best friends, SJ (Snow White’s daughter) and Blue (Red Riding Hood’s sister) are exactly the type of strong co-characters that round it out and bring it all full circle.
Now, I know myself well enough to know that this is 5 stars because I loved everything about this book. I also know that while I may love overly descriptive prose, assuming it fits within the story, (which this does), most readers do not. There is a lot of back story to set the tone of the realm, the school, the characters, the Author and their fates.
I also know that while Crisanta often withdraws into herself and has lengthy discussions within her mind, most readers won’t enjoy this. I, however, highly enjoyed this as it goes deep into what her fears and insecurities are and shows a lot of her spunkiness while she fights through that fear. She is young, and most of us at her time of life, were no different.
So for those readers that have an issue with these types of situations, be aware when you go into this fun-filled journey. I wholly recommend this one and am looking forward to continuing the series. I did receive this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed herein are mine and mine alone.
A very well written book in this series, helps you to appreciate your strengths and weaknesses.
this is a wonderful series. the whole story is broken up into several tasks, one per book but they are complete stories by themselves.
the writing style ranges from eloquent and magnificent building of the world and adventures to sassy and down to earth thoughts of the main character. it’s like salty and sweet. absolutely fabulous!
totally clean, no swearing. just a great story and characters.
Liked it so much I had to get the next 3 books in the series. Hate it when the full series isn’t written yet.
A clever and engaging beginning to a strong coming-of-age story that mixes realistic issues with a modern take on fairy tale problems.
I really enjoyed this book. It is very descriptive and has great twists and turns that kept me wanting to keep going until I was through…and now I’m hooked! I have to find out what happens with the main characters—all of which I came to really like. I also really like the interaction with all the well known story book characters. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author and the entire Crisanta Knight series.
I love this unconventional portrayal of the offspring of classic fairytales: Cinderella, Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, etc. and the ways their lives are shaped based on being the next generation in these worlds. I can’t help but identify with Cinderella’s daughter Crisanta as she works on finding her own identity and place in the world.
Great read! It reminded me a little of The School for Good and Evil series by Soman Chainani. Crista is an incredible character.
If you are a writer or an English major or just love literary fun and fairy tales with a twist, this is a must read book series.
A nice take on the fairytale world.
My daughter and I both loved it, use references to it in every day life and would like to get the next three books! We enjoyed the spinoff from the traditional fairy tales.
Really enjoyed this book and it’s original ality
Strong characters
A fan of fairy tales would love this series. Written toward a YA audience but fun.
i Like it enough that I want to read the rest of the series.
Not what I would typically read, but it kept my interest and was very entertaining.
Great characters, I liked the first free one so much I purchased the next two because I didn’t want to stop reading about the fairy tale kids 🙂
Very clever and entertaining
Unusual heroine, really good other characters – her friends. Uncommon plot. Fun read.
