Intriguing Take on the Krampus Legend!
A unique and captivating Christmas story of murder and mayhem revolving around Krampus who punishes evil doers. It was fun reading William’s antiquated point of view regarding women versus the progressive perspective of his sister Nannette, his fiancé Abigail and her sister Fanny. I received an advanced copy and thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I heartily recommend it. Enjoy!

Crimson Yuletide is a suspenseful horror with a touch of regency romance (both M/F and F/F) set during the holidays. Part whodunnit and part paranormal, Crimson Yuletide kept me guessing. I liked the unique brother/sister POV and the cranky Godfather and protective older brother aspects and how the female characters were not having any of it. This was a fun story.
I received this audiobook for free from StoryOrigin. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Interesting read. Christmas is nearing and Krampus, the Christmas Demon, is on the prowl in Wixcombe. Nan and William Fitzgerald, brother and sister, find themselves in the center of the hunt for Krampus, their godfather being suspected. Join Nan and Will on this adventurous hunt for the truth and the true identity of Krampus in Crimson Yuletide.
You better watch out, you better not cry or Krampus may come visit you. This novel is great, it kept me enthralled as I listened to it and knew that I was good this year and didn’t have anything to worry about, I hope? Anyway, there are lessons to be learned and Rachel has done a fine job with this one. Lynne kept this novel snapping and I could almost believe I was there, if I closed my eyes (which I didn’t)! Buy this one for your kids to listen to , they will be better I bet. Lol!!
Crimson Yuletide, my sixth enjoyable read from author Rachel Ford. This book is so well-written & enjoyable, although nI’m not sure of the genre. Mystery? Horror? Suspense? I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reading & reviewing it. Lynne Ennis’s narration adds greatly to the book’s enjoyment. “I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.” (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
A monster story in the tradition of Shelley and Stoker. This is classic. One of the best monster tales I have encountered. I received a free review copy of the audio version of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. The story is very well written. My interest was grabbed from the beginning and kept throughout. A Christmas book with mystery and horror. I definitely recommend reading. (I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.)
For the record, I received an Advanced Review Copy (ARC) of this book with the request that I leave a voluntary honest review for other potential readers. That having been said, here is my honest opinion and review of this book (Yes, I have to say that every time). Knowing a little bit about the legends of Krampus, I really enjoyed this take on the story. Alternative versions of legends are usually very interesting to read. With excellent world building and character development, the various elements of the story come to life and jump off the page. The intricate plot line of murder and mayhem has plenty of action, surprises, twists and turns for everyone. William is a loveable dufus and a nice guy. Nan is quite acerbic with plenty of wit and intelligence. I wish that I had a godfather like Godfrey when I was a child. The author’s writing style is good and easy to read while the pace flows along nicely from start to finish. The action builds and builds until the dramatic conclusion. Being a mystery buff, I was able to realize who the killer was before the big reveal but it did not distract from my enjoyment of the story. This unique variation of the legends was definitely worth the time it took to read it.
This is a really interesting read. The author has a great vocabulary and I really enjoy that about her. This is a horror mystery. Someone or something is killing people in very gruesome ways and the characters have to figure who and why. This is a story about Krampus, sort of the anti-Santa Claus. Claus rewards the good, Krampus punishes the bad.
I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a very interesting story. I’d heard of Krampus before, so I was looking forward to reading it.
I really like the way the chapters were setup to give William and Nanette’s points of view. It really illustrated the difference in what men thought about women and how they actually were.
I figured out part of the ending, but was still surprised at how it wrapped up.
I received this book as a gift and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
Add a little horror and mystery to your Christmas. It was filled with mystery, intrigue, horror and the paranormal set in another time period. You get historical fiction and small-town drama. The characters are interesting and the mysteries keep you intrigued. It kept me turning the pages.
I received a free ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
**** SPOILER ALERT ****
Ford delivers an action packed hybrid of Christmas, horror, supernatural and mystery with “Crimson Yuletide”.
The author does a superb job of world building and character development throughout this entertaining tale.
I spent a great deal of the story ( enjoyably ) trying to discern what time period that the story is set in.
From the internal klews the author gives the reader, I surmise that it is either the late Victorian, or Edwardian era.
Q: Who is the Krampus?
Q: Will Will and Nan klew in on who they are in love with and claim their beloveds?
A: Grab this book, read it and find out for yourself.
In the interest of transparency: I was given a free review copy of this book and I am voluntarily sharing this review.
