NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER“[A] hold-on-to-your-hat, nail-biting story.”—The Washington Post “Slaughter’s best yet, by far.”—Lee Child Will Trent is a brilliant agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Newly in love, he is beginning to put a difficult past behind him. Then a local college student goes missing, and Will is inexplicably kept off the case by his supervisor and mentor, … the case by his supervisor and mentor, deputy director Amanda Wagner. Will cannot fathom Amanda’s motivation until the two of them literally collide in an abandoned orphanage they have both been drawn to for different reasons. Decades before, when his father was imprisoned for murder, this was Will’s home. It appears that the case that launched Amanda’s career forty years ago has suddenly come back to life—and it involves the long-held mystery of Will’s birth and parentage. Now these two dauntless investigators will each need to face down demons from the past if they are to prevent an even greater terror from being unleashed.

Best of the best!
Criminal, the sixth installment in the Will Trent series, revolves around’s Will’s parentage, in particular his felon father, recently released from prison. Much more is discovered about Amanda Wagner and her early career, particularly her first big case, putting Will’s father in prison. We also learn that Amanda has felt responsible for Will …
Karin Slaughter does it again. this time goin into Will Trent’s past.
This is books number 6 and I really enjoyed it and explain how Amanda is so involved in Will’s life
I really enjoyed this book – the characters are well developed and the writing descriptive and well-paced. Layers and details peel away while jumping between the past and present until the dots are all connected at the end. Would definitely read another in this series.
I read this book last year n bought it for my kindle. Karin is my favorite author .
Wonderful characters, story line worth the read!!!
So glad to finally get back story on good old Will. Wonderfully written. Loved every second.
This book gives us all the information that’s been hovering on the edges for the first five books. In a series of flashbacks that alternate with present day events we see Amanda and Evelyn as police officers in the mid 70’s when women were not welcome as part of the brotherhood. It’s an interesting education for young men and women who are unaware …
The sheer fact that Will Trent survived birth is a miracle in itself. Dyslexic, uncertain, and orphaned from day one, he lands in a rudimentary orphanage. Will beats the odds and becomes a gifted agent for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Refusing to cut ties completely with his drug-addicted wife, or end his obsession with his mother’s …
Karin and Lisa Gardner are my favorite authors.
Karin Slaughter has created one of her best characters, Will Trent, in this outstanding series. Each book in her Will Trent Series is an “edge-of-your seat read and are all outstanding.
I am addicted to Karin Slaughter’s books and on love with Will Trent!
Karin Slaughter never disappoints! I have read this book twice over a couple of years. So well written!
If it is a Karin Slaughter book, I am reading it. This is number 6 in the Will Trent series and answers questions from Will’s background. Slaughter gives enough background information for a reader new to the series, but it is well worth it to go back to number 1: Triptych.
For the best Thrillers read any and all Karen Slaugther books
Karin slaughter is a great writer. I like some of her charecters, want to shake one or two ( stop being so stupid!) and dislike a few. But she writes I think realistically about people and how they behave. The good and the bad.
Terrific in every way.
Another gripping read from this talented author.
The author’s characters are believable. If you like to read thriller crime you will enjoy this book.
Interesting book, but hard to keep the characters straight.
