Part Two of the explosive finale and the climactic ending to Season One!
ABOUT THE SERIES
Baltimore homicide detective Malcolm Khalaji has his own way of doing things: quiet, methodical, logical, effective, not always particularly legal. He’s used to working alone—and the last thing he needs is a new partner ten years his junior.
Especially one like Seong-Jae Yoon.
Icy. Willful. Detached. Stubborn. Seong-Jae is all that and more, impossible to work with and headstrong enough to get them both killed…if they don’t kill each other first. Foxlike and sullen, Seong-Jae’s disdainful beauty conceals a smoldering and ferocious temper, and as he and Malcolm clash the sparks between them build until neither can tell the difference between loathing and desire.
But as bodies pile up at their feet a string of strange, seemingly unrelated murders takes a bizarre turn, leading them deeper and deeper into Baltimore’s criminal underworld. Every death carries a dangerous message, another in a trail of breadcrumbs that can only end in blood.
Malcolm and Seong-Jae must combine their wits against an unseen killer and trace the unsettling murders to their source. Together, they’ll descend the darkest pathways of a twisted mind—and discover just how deep the rabbit hole goes. And if they can’t learn to trust each other?
Neither will make it out alive.

What a ride! Phew!! That was the season finale and it was perfect! It was fast paced and so many things finally falling into places and I absolutely loved every second of it!
Ofcourse there are a lot of questions left unresolved and I didn’t understand anything from the last chapter but then we do have a season 2!
It was exactly like binge watching one of my favourite shows and I wonder if these books will ever be made into one. Malcom and Seong Jae are one of my favourite couples ever. The intimacy! And everytime they are together, it’s so perfect. The chemistry and the scorching sex scenes!! Even the kisses make me swoon!
You can never touch me again.
You will never touch
him.
Not so long as he is mine.
And he will always, always be mine.
And the diversity! It makes me so happy to see this much representation. This series is romantic suspense at its best.
Anjulie and Gabrielle. Finally! Fuck yeah!
Season 2 is going to be a blast and I’m so ready for it!

Genius! Cole’s mind is amazing! How can an end of season leave you panting, wanting and looking for more? I have whiplash! I feel like I just experienced a little BD while still dressed. Fantastic story! Cannot wait for the next Season. Well done! I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.

Season 1 is officially over and what a ride! I was perched on my seat for the entirety of this episode; I don’t think I breathed properly to be honest. Sila was just as cruel and horrifying as has been led up to, and I wanted nothing more than to wrap Mal and Seong-Jae up in a hug and let them be happy.
I really liked how so many characters from the earlier episodes came together in this book, and I can’t wait to see more of them in season 2. ALSO! We get a new big bad? The Golden Ratio Killer? I don’t even know you and I’m already scared of you.
And I also have to mention one of my favourite scenes from the book where two certain women who have been flirting non-stop for like 5 books finally get it on. I’m so very excited to see how their relationship develops when one of them is aromantic.
I’m really looking forward to season 2. I know Mal and Seong-Jae will have their ups and downs, but I’m trusting McCade’s end goal. I would love to see more domesticity between them and more fluff. And more Seong-Ja if possible!
Anyway, if you’re looking for a fucked-up crime novels with a queer romance, pick up Criminal Intentions ASAP!

This was an absolutely phenomenal ending to season one. This so made up for the killer cliff-hanger of the last book, Malcolm and Seong-Jae have the emotional breakthrough I have been longing for. Like any good series it left me desperate for more, I cannot wait to see what the author has in store for season two.

** spoiler alert **
While reading this episode, I was on the edge of my couch. I was so invested in the book that I couldn’t put it down. I forgot what was happening around me and continued to read. It felt like I was holding my breath reading because things kept happening and I was worried about the boys, Anjulie, Sade, the other characters, and the whole city. My heart couldn’t handle all the emotions I felt reading. In this episode, readers saw the thought process of Sila and how much damage he brought onto Seong-Jae. To hear about all the abuse Sila did to Seong-Jae and how it left him with such deep psychological scars, broke my heart completely. It’s not easy to heal from all that abuse; it shaped Seong-Jae’s perception on life, people, and himself. I love how Malcolm continuously shows Seong-Jae that he deserves to be loved and that he is never alone. Out of everyone in Seong-Jae’s life, Malcolm was the one to believe Seong-Jae that Sila is real and that the monster is Sila not him. One of the things I love most about Malcolm is his forgiving nature. He is always able to find the good in people even if they can’t see it in themselves. Although Malcolm discovered the truth about Seong-Jae, it never changed the way he felt about him. Seong-Jae saw himself as this monster, while Malcolm did not see that, and instead, saw a caring person who has scars that was not his fault.
I have never read a character like Sila before. I don’t fully understand his thought process. He believes it is okay to play people like they are his puppets. He doesn’t care that he is messing with people’s’ lives; he’s using insecurities to force people to do what he wants them to do. The only person he cares about is himself. I became more scared during the underground water explosion because I didn’t know what was gonna happen to the boys. My emotions were up and down. I just wanted them to be safe, together, and alive. I did not expect Malcolm to confess his love for Seong-Jae. My heart melted. He was saying that because he was accepting his death in order to let Seong-Jae live and save himself. I was like, “no just let them be together and happy again.” I kept saying I trust the author, I trust the author. I was so happy that Seong-Jae and Malcolm made it out. Thank you to the author for letting Seong-Jae and Malcolm have their HFN. It made my heart happy. I have questions for that ending, like what is Huang and Lillienne planning with Sila and what is sila planning with the Golden Ratio Killer. That ending with the Golden Ratio Killer was so creepy; I had chills on my arms. I don’t know what to expect in the upcoming season. I’m ready but also so scared.

I have no words to describe how fantabulous this was. I literally couldn’t put it down! It was such a rush to follow Seong-Jae while he was looking for Malcolm. And finally the mystery of Sila was uncovered. With every word Seong-Jae’s past was reconstructed, and the picture of a vulnerable young man, so taken by an innocent beautiful face that housed malicious vindictive monster, emerged. It kept getting more intense, the ingenious planning and sheer volume of machinations were astounding. I felt revulsion and admiration at the same time – it takes meticulousness, determination and a lot patience to achieve something like this but at the same time the unstable vicious nature to want to pursue it.
There were moments I was scared for both Mal and Seong-Jae. It felt like the end was so close but they made it out alive, barely. The City of Baltimore was on fire but miraculously the worst of it was contained. So many lives hang in the balance: Mal and Seong-Jae, Anjulie and Gabi, Sade and Min Zhe… all of them are on the precipice to either bliss or unhappiness.
Finally Malcolm and Seong-Jae open up about their feelings. It’s so tender and just beautiful, and when Seong-Jae is so vulnerable yet he trusts Malcolm with his heart at last… my breath hitched more than once. It was so touching that for a moment I felt I was intruding in on their private moment. I loved it! It was everything I hoped for and more. The ending is a promise of happiness, angst and even pain to come. One would hope that the villains are slain, and domestic bliss will follow. And yet, there are more players and even higher stakes, and Sila has an ace up his sleeve. Splendid finale! I highly recommend the entire series!!! Copy received for my honest and unbiased review
