ABOUT THIS EPISODETragedy strikes on the homefront when a husband and father snaps…but if Detectives Malcolm Khalaji and Seong-Jae Yoon can’t track down a killer on the run, this crime of passion may take one more victim. Moral boundaries blur, lines cross, and even as a secretive puppetmaster watches from the shadows, both Malcolm and Seong-Jae must make a choice. One path leads to salvation.… One path leads to salvation.
While the other may leave an innocent dead.
And not even the feelings growing between them will stop Malcolm and Seong-Jae from shattering for good.
ABOUT THE SERIES
Baltimore homicide detective Malcolm Khalaji has his own way of doing things: quiet, methodical, logical, effective, not always particularly legal. He’s used to working alone—and the last thing he needs is a new partner ten years his junior.
Especially one like Seong-Jae Yoon.
Icy. Willful. Detached. Stubborn. Seong-Jae is all that and more, impossible to work with and headstrong enough to get them both killed…if they don’t kill each other first. Foxlike and sullen, Seong-Jae’s disdainful beauty conceals a smoldering and ferocious temper, and as he and Malcolm clash the sparks between them build until neither can tell the difference between loathing and desire.
But as bodies pile up at their feet a string of strange, seemingly unrelated murders takes a bizarre turn, leading them deeper and deeper into Baltimore’s criminal underworld. Every death carries a dangerous message, another in a trail of breadcrumbs that can only end in blood.
Malcolm and Seong-Jae must combine their wits against an unseen killer and trace the unsettling murders to their source. Together, they’ll descend the darkest pathways of a twisted mind—and discover just how deep the rabbit hole goes. And if they can’t learn to trust each other?
Neither will make it out alive.

Another stunning novel in this series!! The writing is so beautiful! The author is got a way with words which makes me think I’ll never recover from the addiction that is Mal and Seong Jae!
“…if Seong-Jae was kintsugi, then Malcolm was every shimmering thread of gold stealing into all of his cracked and hollow places, and knitting him into one piece.”
And damn it, but they are too adorable for words! It’s like they have known each other forever, at home or work, instead of just two months. And that blow job scene?
Each book keeps getting better and better. The cases keeps getting more and more personal. But they are there for each other, to hold each other up, when they are too broken to stand on their on.
Do not ever let me go. I do not know how to hold together, without you.
Obviously this series is highly recommended!
I enjoyed this episode, especially how Malcolm and Seong-Jae’s relationship continues to progress. That said, the secrets- particularly Seong-Jae’s- are wearing on me. I don’t love watching things slowly fall apart and considering you can see the writing on the wall regarding a major conflict and player from Seong-Jae’s past moving to the forefront of the series, the way this slow lead-up is moving unnerves me and makes me worry for the characters’ futures.
The crime the partners solved was methodical and emotional taxing this time around. Though this episode didn’t quite have the same edge-of-your-seat suspense or action other cases boasted, I do like the variety of plotlines found in the Criminal Intentions series.
It certainly is sustaining one another that hints that Malcolm and Seong-jae just
might be able to be a team both at work and at home. Time is of the essence to
keep an innocent alive. And they are almost too late.
A husband and father snaps and kills. They need to find him before he kills again. Will they find him? There will be two paths they could take but which one will they take? See which one they will take

This series draws you in and doesn’t let you go.
Cole McCade has a magical way with words that just makes you feel everything…you are in the moment with Malcolm and Seong-Jae no matter how uncomfartable or heartrending that moment may be.
Brilliant series

Eight books in and I’ve finally learned not to start reading anywhere close to bedtime. I absolutely loved it and I thoroughly enjoyed this visit with Malcolm and Seong-Jae and I can’t wait to read the next book.

I am in love with this series.
5 Kintsugi stars
I loved it how Seong-Jae’s head works and put all the pieces together…
I loved how dedicated and gentle Malcolm is. So deep committed to make, whatever it is between Seong-Jae and him, work. Seong-Jae uncomfortable with it all… appreciating Malcolm for the person he is. They are drawn to each other and get upset by each other.
Throughout the series we get to know them more and more, and there is a lot to know!
The extended way of describing every move, gesture… the whole scenery, makes it that I was absorbed by the story, actually the whole series.
Malcolm blunt… Seong-Jae blunt with a silk edge… both exquisite developed…
About this story… it cracked Malcolm’s heart even before knowing the outcome, which could go every direction.
There is always a whole world behind any of the cases… and this one ughh…
I hated it that Seong-Jae was holding in… get it out on table and deal with it… I really have trouble when he withdraws… but hey… still love him to bits.
The crime in this story was so suspenseful I was sitting on the edge… my heart almost knocked through my chest.
How is it possible to write words… let someone read them… and that same someone who was reading just saw it before their eyes… like a movie… unbelievable good!!
Kindly received an arc from the author
Another wonderful episode from Cole McCade! Malcolm and Seong-Jae are just so adorable together. This book shows them a bit settled into dating, trying to figure out each other’s quirks. I just love when Seong-Jae calls Malcolm old wolf! It suits him! And Malcolm referring to Seong-Jae crow of a man in return is awwww! *sigh*
They have this kind of closeness as if they’ve been together for years. They just get each other both at home and at work. More details are uncovered about their pasts. Malcolm and Seong-Jae are not afraid to be vulnerable in front of each other. It’s those comforting moments between them that I loved the most; they were so raw and honest, so heart-felt and tender.
The case this time strikes a cord in Malcolm. Time is of the essence, but with no leads both men feel useless while they play a waiting game with the murderer. Tough choices are made, and they can’t turn back the time. But in the end all that matters is that a life is saved even though the illusion of happy childhood is gone for good. It was thrilling, edgy and a little desperate. But Malcolm was there to pick Seong-Jae up. But the best part is what is still lurking in the shadow. Who is behind all this?
It keeps getting better, more exciting, more intimate and very personal. I loved every page of this book! From disgruntled Seong-Jae with his hatred for Swabey’s food, Malcolm’s fear, Sade’s teasing, Anjulie’s sorrow to the killer who in the end would not let go! It was awesome!!! I highly recommend it!
