4 stars for – Creole Kingpin – book one in the Magnolia Duet by Meghan March. Fans of this author will recognize many people in this story as this could be considered a spin-off from the Mount Trilogy which has been around for quite some time and I hope you had a chance to fall in love with them like me. If not you can rest assured this can be read as a complete standalone.
Magnolia Marie Maison is finally living the life she wants when the man she never thought she’d see again walks into her life after fifteen long lonely years. Being the women that she is, the mere sight of him enrages her. She wants to know exactly whom does he think he is coming back now after all this time!
Moses Buford Gaspard fell for a beautiful woman fifteen years ago and vowed he would come back to her. He has made many mistakes but he is back to claim the woman that is his in every way. He truly hopes that she won’t kill him when she sees his face and that this slow burn between them promises to be one heck of an explosion yet to come.
Ok I freely admit I did NOT intend to like this book as much as I did solely based on the two main characters but I am so glad I gave them a chance as Meghan proved once again why her anti-hero romances are some of my very favorite in her vast catalog of sexy men! Can’t wait for Madam Temptress next!
The queen of cliffy’s has done it again! Omg I need the next book now…Meghan March never disappoints!!!
If you love angst, drama, super hot alpha males, sexy times and strong, bad you know what heroines…this is the book for you!
Loved the secondary characters that we’ve already grown to love. Love this super strong, super banter, powerhouse duo!
Highly recommend, amazing read from a fantastic author!
I struggled with Magnolia’s character in the Savage trilogy, so I wasn’t sure what to expect for her story. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I knew Meghan would redeem her, bu I had no idea how. After reading the Legend trilogy, I was drawn to Moses and his story so much. Meghan writer the best anti-heroes out of anyone I know. I have to say, the most exciting part was just being back in NOLA with so many of my favorite characters. The series that have centered in NOLA have my heart. I really loved Moses, but I need to know why he stayed away from Mags for so long. He better have a good excuse. I loved how Mount helped the situation along, but also I loved to see his arrogance shine when he was asked for favors. He really is one of a kind. He knew the two of them had so much to work through and they had to do it themselves. I can’t wait for the conclusion. Megan once again delivers on the cliffhanger.
I loved the first part of this duet! Magnolia finally gets her story and Meghan March does not let you down.
Meghan is the master of the cliff hanger and mystery. She knows how to write well thought out stories and intertwine her characters from other books. This is an amazing addition to her world.
Magnolia has been in other books and she finally gets her turn. I love the strong heroine the one that has grit and a backbone. This is a second chance romance and there is a lot of mystery and crazyness surrounding Creole Kingpin and I love it!
I loved seeing Keira pop in because I just loved her from previous books.
there is lots of heat, mystery, angst, and so much more. Please one click creole kingpin because your won’t be able to stop reading. I was up late a few nights because I couldn’t put it down. I don’t want to spoil anything about the hero so you need to dive in.
I will always have a special spot in my heart for Meghan March – her Dirty Billionaire series and standalone book Bad Judgment were very pivotal in rekindling my love for romance AND they kickstarted my love for audiobooks (which I previously thought were NOT my jam and I couldn’t be happier that I was SO wrong about that), so if you’ve been with me for a minute, you know the love runs deep. I’m always quick to preorder her books as soon as I can and I’m quick to read them ASAP (as opposed to letting them languish on my TBR shelf like I do with so many others). While I know that they’re pretty much guaranteed to be a good time, I was blown away by how much FUN Creole Kingpin is! Now, don’t get me wrong, this is not some light-hearted, rom com of a book – there’s tension, lots of adult activities (like some serious chess-playing and bloodshed), and a delicious suspense/cat-and-mouse game happening – so it’s not quite a picnic in the park. BUT, I COULD NOT PUT THE BOOK DOWN once I started. I might’ve sorta taken the day off to read it. That’s how much it gripped me. Between Magnolia’s desire to claim a new life and the threat against her, to Moses’ quest to claim his woman (swoon) and the mystery behind what Mount (OMG MOUNT!!!) is pressuring him to confess to Magnolia, to the psycho running loose – this was just… a delightfully fun read and I CAN NOT WAIT for Madam Temptress. SN: As I do, I went back and forth between reading with my eyes and my ears. Joe Arden did the damn thing (as usual) – he delivered such a sexy, Creole-spiced voice for Moses, as well as giving distinct voices to the other characters depicted in his chapters. And Erin Mallon is one of my OG favorite narrators, but while she did an excellent job overall voicing Magnolia, her twang didn’t come off as naturally and seemed to fluctuate from an attempt at a bayou tinged accent, to something more Texan, to a more general southern twang, but I respect the effort. Anywho, give me all the Meghan March and that subtle cliffy slayed me and can it be it be April 14th already because my body is so ready for Madam Temptress! 4.5 out of 5 wine glasses.
He’s been gone fifteen years and a million dark secrets stand between them, but Moses Gaspard is determined to win Magnolia Marie Maison back at any cost.

I just know that when I get ready to devour a Meghan March book it is going to be an experience quite like no other. Like lighting a match, it burns hot, quick and leaves a singe mark on my skin. Creole Kingpin was no different!! Somehow March took 2 characters I thought were irredeemable and not made them only likable but also characters you couldn’t help but fall a little in love with and root them on.
You are going to see all the words describing how this story affected people, mind blowing, heart stopping, roller coaster ride of emotion and they ARE NOT wrong!!! Creole Kingpin is definitely one of my one click recommendations and a top read of 2020 for sure!!
I am such a sucker for a cliffhanger, I seriously live & breath for them. They are one of my must haves. March always hits the mark and leaves me gasping, desperate for more. I never wanted this book to end and cried when I got to the last sentence.
It took him fifteen years to come back to her! If you were Magnolia, would you take him back?
She thought Moses was her saviour back then. He stayed with her for two weeks after Katrina hit and kept her safe. But a gangster cannot stay still for long and keep himself alive. So he said he would come back for her and left. Magnolia is a survivor and took control of her life and succeeded.
Now that Moses has come back for her, it could not have happened at a better time. Magnolia is being hunted by an assassin and needs help. Hopefully, their love will re-ignite and they will be able to survive. Hopefully!
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
Moses and Magnolia’s story was amazing, I love how Meghan March writes but this new duet raised her bar. It got my emotions in the best way possible, all the twists and romance had me on edge until the end of the book and now I need more, it ends in a cliffy and it’s a very good one so I can’t wait for the next one!
HOLY GIRL CRUSH!!!! I am head over heels in LOVE with Magnolia Maison. Like put a fork in me, I am DONE in love. Meghan March always creates strong, able minded female characters but Ms. Maison is BEYOND even that. She is tough, wicked smart, independent, yet can see when she has over stepped or when she needs to soften for the right of her heart. This book is an absolute favorite of mine. Don’t get me wrong Moses is awesome…and perfect for her…together they can RULE THE BAYOU. I am so excited to see where this journey will take us. Addicting, real, tough, thrilling, action packed love story that keeps you completely mesmerized and begging for more. Bravo Ms. March, bravo. And Mags is MINE. lol #girlcrush
I was so happy to be back in the bayou. The world that this author has created in the city of New Orleans is one I will
NEVER tire of! I dare say that Magnolia is one of the strongest heroines that Meghan has ever created and that is some very esteemed company. Don’t get be wrong, Moses as the hero is great too (and I was SERIOUSLY worried about his lack of having any redemptive qualities after his villainous role in the the Legend trilogy), but Magnolia steals the show! This book draws you in from page one and doesn’t let go (even after the book is over)! I can’t wait to read the conclusion of the story!!
It was so awesome being back in Meghan March’s New Orleans world (hello Lachlan Mount) Magnolia and Moses were the perfect match! I loved getting to know more about Magnolia! I couldn’t wait for her book but I couldn’t imagine what her hero would be like. Moses was written perfectly for Mags! If you know Moses from the Legend trilogy…Forget everything you think you know about him! He’s so much more than I was expecting and I love him! This book was an action packed, unputdownable, sizzling ride and I can’t wait for the conclusion.

I truly don’t know how to write this review without giving something away, but I’ll try.
As always, March has outdone herself. Seriously, how can one author ALWAYS outdo herself in EVERY book she writes?
This is the story of Magnolia, who we’ve met before. And she is way more than she seems. She has secrets like everyone, and when one of her secrets comes back, what will she do?
This book is suspenseful and raw. You’ll have all the feels as you read it.
And then…you have to wait for book 2….
Meghan March hits it out of the park yet again! I was completely spellbound with this tale of the Creole Kingpin and his lady. The fire in Magnolia will blow your mind as she continues to rise herself above her past however what happens when that past comes knocking at your door. Literally. Moses comes in to take over everything and regardless of how these two push each other, they have such a magnetic pull. The underlying story that commands these two has me wanting more. Legit, that ending. I was like NOOOO this cannot be it.. But I have so many questions.
I think this is why I absolutely adore Meghan March books. The passion. The intrigue. The depth of the story. This book has it all and leaves you breathless and begging for more. I am DYING to get my hands on Madam Temptress. Between the alpha in Moses and the passionate fire in Magnolia, this book sizzles and burns as they navigate everything that is thrown at them!
I love a good second chance story, especially when it’s Meghan March. As always, filled with action so you’ll be flipping the pages fast! Great anti-heroine!
So right now all I have to say is damn!!!!!!! That ending!!! I so did not see what happened coming! Going into this book I knew that I would be left hanging in suspense as Meghan is the QUEEN of leaving her readers in suspense! But damn!!! Seriously this book!
I know I say this every time I read one of Meghan’s books but I can’t help it. They just keep getting better and better. Hands down her BEST BOOK EVER!! And I love ALL of her books! This story is EVERYTHING!! Oh my goodness, after being one of those characters that you can’t help but dislike in other books, I freaking LOVED Magnolia!! I mean full out, fell in love with her. She is without a doubt the baddest, best heroine that Meghan has written to date.
As for Moses, holy wow!!! That man!
He’s definitely going to give Mount a run for his money that’s for sure! Everyone who reads this is going to fall in love with Magnolia and Moses.
I am so glad that Meghan decided to write this duet for Magnolia. Creole Kingpin is going to knock your socks off! And I am SO ready for this final part of this duet in Madam Temptress!
5 Stars
Intricately, suspenseful, captivating and gripping
Extraordinary story, masterfully written and well-developed. I love strong, independent heroines, that are smart and know how to kick a#s, and Magnolia is by far, one of my most favorite female characters to this day. She’s funny, successful, determine, compassionate, strong mentally and physically, she doesn’t need a man to rescue her, she has her flaws, and knows when to give in.
OMG, this first book was one hell of an amazing ride, and a page turner at its best. Creole Kingpin is intense, gritty, raw, emotional and has twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. OMG, how I love Magnolia.
The rest of the characters are likeable and believable (especially the bad boys).
In addition, I already finish listening to the audiobook, and it was a fabulous experience. The Creole Kingpin is intricately, suspenseful, captivating, gripping, and brilliantly performed from start to finish. I absolutely love the way Joe Arden and Erin Mallon bring this story to life!
I can’t wait for the conclusion of this amazing duet!!
Magnolia!! We finally have Magnolia Maison’s story and it was so worth the wait. Creole Kingpin is so good!! A seductive, captivating and suspenseful second chance romance that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. I love Meghan March’s ability to always keep me guessing.
Magnolia and Moses have really great chemistry. 15 years have past since they were last together but you could feel all the passion still there in the present. I love these two so much.
Give me an intelligent and independent heroine any day. Magnolia is all that and more. I can’t get enough of her character. She’s all fire, sass and fight. She’s so different from the character we met in Mount trilogy. I really enjoyed getting to see her show her strengths and her vulnerabilities – especially when it comes to Moses. *Sigh* Moses. Who would have thought after reading the Legend trilogy I would be so in love with Moses Gaspard. He’s everything I love in a March hero. Protective, caring, all the alpha goodness. He knows he lost so much when he didn’t come back for Magnolia. His willingness to do whatever it takes to win her back and keep her safe is swoon worthy. There are secrets to him that I cannot wait to learn about.
Creole Kingpin is only the first book in the duet. So, of course, in typical Meghan March fashion she throws us for a loop with an epic cliffhanger and leaves us dying for answers. I can’t wait to continue Moses and Magnolia’s story. In the meantime, I’ll be waiting on pin and needles.
HOLY CANNOLI! What a fantastic read! I anticipated an emotional struggle with this hero, but he definitely won me over. And Magnolia… talk about a bad-ass heroine. She blew me away! I am so intrigued by these characters and this storyline. I can’t wait to see where it takes me. I am counting down the days until the release of Madam Temptress!
