New York Times bestselling author Meghan March goes back to New Orleans and the world of Lachlan Mount with a dangerous and bold new anti-hero. That’s exactly what I am, but I can’t stay away from Magnolia Marie Maison for one more day, let alone another year. We’ve already got fifteen of those between us.As it stands, she’ll want to kill me … us.
As it stands, she’ll want to kill me as soon as she lays eyes on me. And knowing her, she’s completely up to the task.
But I’m a man on a mission, and I’ve got everything riding on this.
So, here I come, Magnolia. This ghost is ready for whatever you got.
After all, there’s only one way I want this to end—’til death do us part.
Creole Kingpin is the first book in the Magnolia Duet. Magnolia’s story concludes in Madam Temptress.

This is the book we’ve waited for, the story on Miss Magnolia Maison, bad-**s extraordinaire, Queen of her world. She’s making some changes, but then is completely thrown for a loop when her past comes back to see her in the form of Moses Gaspard. Not only that, but he wants her back. As if dealing with that isn’t mind blowing enough, she also has someone after her, someone with bad intentions and evil plans. All of this makes for a riveting, edge-of-your-seat, can’t-put-down book that you come to expect from Meghan March, and she doesn’t disappoint!! And I’ll be desperately counting the days down until I get Moses & Magnolia back in my hands to find out the rest of their story!!! Love them!!!
Perfect imperfection, that is the best description of our characters. I admit, I didn’t meet Magnolia before reading this book, and I loved her right away! Her spirit, her temperament, her determination, all things to keep herself, and her world, balanced. Moses, who I did meet before, seems up front, but you just know there is more. He is set on his course though, and that is making Magnolia his, again. I loved the sparks, the clashes, the fire, that ignites between these two. Old hurts, new realities, and a mystery to be solved, and some truth to be served up – can’t wait for the next book!
It’s been fifteen years… Moses promised he would return… left me wondering…wanting him. Suddenly he returns with no reason or answer to where he has been and why now? So many secrets….I’m Magnolia Marie Mason and I’m strong independent woman, who takes no crap from no one, even tho I find myself falling for Moses Gaspard once again.
ARC
This book has been most anticipated and my favorite Meghan March book. Magnolia is one of my favorite heroines. We got the story of the infamous madam that we first met in Ruthless King. She is a survivor.Moses walked away from Magnolia once and he is back know to get the her back. When I started reading I couldn’t put it down.Meghan March is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can’t wait for the next book
First off, can we just admire how insanely gorgeous this cover is?! Not only does Creole Kingpin have an amazing cover, but the story contained within the pages will consume you, will suck you in and have you falling in love with Magnolia and Moses.
No one writes anti-heroes like Meghan March and Moses is no exception to this. You just can’t help but love the man. He is addicting, he will have you swooning from the very first moment you meet him. There is still some mystery surrounding him that leaves you wanting more about him, his story and why he is back in New Orleans after leaving fifteen years ago.
Magnolia Maison is the ULTIMATE girl crush. She is hands down one of the best heroines I have read in a long time. I love everything about this woman. She is a fighter, a survivor, she is strong and she has used everything in the past to make a better life for herself and become the woman she is today. I love that she doesn’t need to rely on anyone but herself.
Magnolia and Moses together is explosive. There is so much chemistry between them. They are both drawn to each other, even though Magnolia doesn’t want anything to do with the man. Moses is extremely protective of her, but knows his boundaries. They have the perfect balance in their relationship. I can’t wait to see where their relationship and their story goes after the cliffhanger of the ending we got!
Creole Kingpin is an addictive page turner that will have you on the edge of your seat from the very first page to the very last. A MUST READ and a TOP READ of 2020.
Move over for MAGNOLIA! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Well Meghan March has done it again…Magnolia is captivating, sassy and take charge attitude is everything that I want to be when I grow up! I never thought that Meghan March would get me to ever like Moses… but she has done it. I actually like him… He is brooding, protective and really wants a life with our girl. The way the first part of the duet has ended … is air sucking good!
5 Stars
I enjoyed this book so much I can’t wait to read the rest of the story I hope it as good or better. I can’t wait. I really love all your books so much but I really hate how all of them always have a cliffhanger I really hate waiting to read the next part but I will wait.
Thank you to Meghan for my advanced copy for which I voluntarily leave my honest review and I’m SUPER excited to see what happens next
OMG.
When i saw we was getting this duet at first i was a little confused to who Magnolia was but then it clicked and i got all excited because MOUNT.
Magnolia is in same world as Mount so i knew without a doubt i was going to love this book.
I loved how strong she was, she knew how to protect herself. She is one hell of a woman I’ll tell you. She was so fiesty it was amazing to watch her put people in their place.
Moses, gah that man.
He was seriously a delicious man, he was everything Magnolia needs.
I had some serious swoon moments with him.
I’m absolutely dying for the next one!
Is there ever a book Meghan writes that we don’t love?? No! Magnolia is badass. She is independent and doesn’t need a man to take care of her. Admittedly, my memory isn’t the best so I don’t remember much about her from Keira’s story. While I was totally into the story from the beginning, it felt like I was missing something as if their story started in another book. Being that Keira didn’t know about them we obviously didn’t learn about them in Mount Trilogy. Now, that shower scene with Moses was soo hot I’m still thinking about it! In true Meghan March fashion we are left with a cliffhanger that has me asking so many questions. I can’t wait for Madam Temptress!!
I wrote this review based on an advance reading copy that the publisher sent me.

Well I can actually say that I have found my All Time Favorite Meghan March book…..Creole Kingpin!!!! And to think this is only the 1st book in this Duet. I can’t wait to see where this story goes in Madam Temptress 😉
This book was AMAZING!! I am rarely left speechless after reading a book, but this one I am actually speechless. I know my review will not do this book justice.
Now as you know, if you are a fan of Meghan’s, she does not write many books that are standalone novels, and Creole Kingpin is NOT a standalone novel. This is the first of the duet as I said before. And this Cliffhanger was brutal!!! I am dying to find out what happens in the next book. April can’t come fast enough. This Duet is also a spin off from two of her other trilogies. The Mount Trilogy and The Legend Trilogy. Now neither one of those trilogies need to be read before reading this Duet. You just meet Magnolia and Moses from those other books, so they kind of set up their stories.
Now if there is ever a couple ever reader should meet, it is Magnolia and Moses. I absolutely LOVED both of these characters. Magnolia is a sassy, snarky, confident and bada$$ heroine. And Moses is a swoony and sexy anti-hero that you will want to hate but won’t be able to help falling in love with him. Their story is combustible. Their chemistry melted the pages of my kindle. There isn’t a truer match made for each other than Moses and Magnolia!!!
This book had it ALL!!! You will have you emotions running ragged while reading this book. Meghan March has a way with words and the worlds she gives us. I think this is Meghan’s best work yet. You will be sucked into this book right from the start and won’t be able to put it down until the end….even then you will want MORE!!!!
This is definitely going on my Best of 2020 list and you all should add this Duet to your TBR list. Make sure you 1-click this book as soon as it’s released. Don’t take my word for it, Read this book for yourself!!! You won’t be sorry!!!!

Ooohhhhh…
Okay. Didn’t see that one coming, but what a way to throw down!
Now I definitely NEED to know what the hell is going on, because the reaction is gonna be EPIC!
But outside of that ending, I FLOVED this book!
Absolutely, FLOVED.
Not that it should be a surprise to anyone, but this baby gave me everything I was hoping for when it came to Magnolia. After meeting her in the Mount Trilogy and getting more of her in the Savage Trilogy…well I NEEDED to know all the good, the bad and the ugly and this woman is simply amazing. Tough, no nonsense who owns everything she is. I loved being in her head, seeing her vulnerabilities and learning about what truly motivated her. Moses may not have been on my radar long, but after all that went down in the Legend trilogy, he definitely made the very, very long list of secondary characters by this author that I hoped would get their own HEA, and he hasn’t disappointed. The man is all kinds of Alpha AF, no doubt, but seeing his…gentler side had me melting.
As for their journey…I gotta say, I enjoyed the push/pull between them, and to be honest I did tend to be #TeamMags, but what Moses was throwing down…all kinds of melty. But the chemistry between them is intense and they fit so well together, it’s insane…so, it’ll be interesting to see what goes down in Madam Temptress because it promises to be, if nothing else, all kinds of fun!
I’m a fan girl of the author’s, that’s no surprise, but I really enjoyed Creole Kingpin. From Magnolia and Moses’ shared history, to their time apart, to the crazy that is going on around them in the story…I just thought it was all well thought out and executed. Also, I loved getting to catch up with a couple of fav’s and seeing where life has taken them. This is a duet, so yes, if you couldn’t tell from the beginning of this review, there is a cliffy and I definitely can’t wait to see all of that plays out.
~ Copy provided by the author & voluntarily reviewed ~
I knew Magnolia’s read would be epic, but to add Moses in there made it even better. At first when reading about Moses I thought he was an old ba$tard, but wow i was VERY wrong. Magnolia is everything we thought she would be, beautiful, strong, independent woman. Never seen her falling for anything less than a Moses. He is exactly what she needs, and vice versa. And that cliff hanger…… can’t not wait till the next book
Unputdownable!! Finally Magnolia’s story!!!! Lana~White Hot Reads
I have been patiently waiting for Meghan to write Magnolia’s story and let me tell you it does not disappoint. She has always fascinated me ever since I read about her in the Mount Trilogy. She is hands down one bad ass lady who handles her shit with grit, grace and determination. Moses coming back into her life put hers on a tailspin but in a good way. This ends in a cliffy that has you saying WTF and I can’t wait to read Madam Temptress to see the conclusion. I love coming back to NOLA where my love for Meghan’s book started!!!
Creole Kingpin is book one in the Magnolia Duet. Meghan’s writing had me instantly hooked!! I love that Magnolia is such a strong lead character. She doesn’t take any crap and stands up for herself. Moses is a piece of her past. He is very determined to get Magnolia back. Their history is still unfolding and I absolutely cannot wait to find out what happens next in Madam Temptress!!
I was so excited Meghan decided to go back to new Orleans with this epic duet, Mags and moses story is damn spectacular you’ll be hooked from the first page
OMG!!!! im speechless!! Oh Mamma!! Meghan has outdone herself once again!! Exciting and edgy!! Sensational Story!!
Creole Kingpin contains one of my least favorite tropes, the abominable second chance. I usually hate it, because the characters’ separation is often due to a stupid misunderstanding, or a failure to communicate, or something totally avoidable. Luckily, this doesn’t happen in Creole Kingpin.
15 years ago Magnolia and Moses spent two weeks together post-Katrina that changed their lives, and when Moses left, neither of them were able to forget the other. Only problem is Moses left and never reached out or contacted Magnolia again. Understandably, she’s a tad bitter.
In fact, that’s what I liked about Magnolia the best. She didn’t weakly simper or immediately forgive Moses for his silence over the years. She made him earn it. And Moses? While he was persistent and didn’t give up in his pursuit of Magnolia, his point of view showed some true regret and longing.
So much drama, suspense, mystery, and heat. Creole Kingpin ends on a cliffhanger, and not surprisingly, I felt like I was on the edge of my seat the entire read. Constantly wondering what will happen next and how can they fix this?! Absolutely riveting. Another sensational read by Meghan March.
I feel like we’ve been on pins and needles for years waiting for Magnolia to finally get her story, and boy it’s turning out to be a doozy!
Moses Buford Gaspard is the one that got away. The one that promised to come back, but that was fifteen years ago and not a word. So Magnolia created a life, became a powerful Madam in New Orleans under the protection of Lachlan Mount, and refused to think about Moses. Until the day she sees him standing in Mount’s office.
Where has Moses been for the past fifteen years? Why is he back now? And why is he talking to the King of New Orleans?
Having first met Magnolia in the Mount trilogy, I have been fascinated with her for years. She’s a fierce friend, a take no shit woman who isn’t going to let anyone tell her what she can or cannot do, especially not a man. She has been through the wringer in her lifetime, and it’s about time she gets to sit back and enjoy a quiet life. But now Moses is back and he’s bound and determined to be a part of it. Does she want him to be? Can she get past the hurt of his disappearing all those years ago with no word?
It was fun to see Magnolia rebuff Moses at every turn. She’s no shrinking violet, that is for sure. We get to see a few small snippets into how Magnolia and Moses met, but there’s still SO much the reader doesn’t know yet. Add in some danger that Magnolia finds herself in, and once again Meghan gives us a page-turner story I couldn’t put down.
Just when things were getting super interesting, Meghan hits us with her signature cliffhanger and BAM! It was over!! April can’t get here fast enough with the conclusion to Moses and Magnolia’s story in Madame Temptress.
Another fabulous book by Meghan March.
Creole Kingpin is now my favorite book by Meghan. Awesome read.
We got to read about Magnolia Maison in The Mount trilogy. I’ve so wanted her book and she is awesome!! She is one bad@ss woman. I’ve got a woman crush on her. Love that she didn’t hold anything back.
Magnolia didn’t have an easy life growing up.
But she did what she had to do and build herself an empire.
But now after 15 years a man from her past has come back to claim her.
Moses Gaspard has come back to claim his woman. He knows he has his work cut out for him, but he is not leaving without her.
Moses is yummy!!! He is the perfect anti-hero.
The hotness level of Magnolia and Moses is through the roof. Holy Hotness!!
Love the storyline and the suspense.
And that cliffhanger…
Need the next book NOW!!
My Rating: STARS!
Readers got their first taste of the New Orleans madam, Magnolia Maison in the Mount Trilogy. Mags is the best friend of Keira Kilgore and under the protection of the King of NOLA so when he summons her, she meets with him to learn that her former “house” is on the Fed’s radar then is given the surprise of her life, when he next meeting is with someone she hasn’t seen in 15 years, Moses Gaspard. Moses was the shadowy bad guy from March’s last trilogy, Legend. Moses and Magnolia had an intense two weeks during Hurricane Katrina that left a haunting scar on them both. Now Moses is back for Mags and he is NOT taking no for an answer.
If you read the Mount Trilogy (and you really should), especially Sinful Empire, you learned that Magnolia Maison is an all-around badass of a woman who can handle anything that is thrown her way. She scraped her way into a good life for herself, survived an attack which would have dropped a lessor woman to her knees, and is now ready to move on to the next phase of her life. Mags has a big heart hidden beneath her take no sh*t, give as good as she gets attitude that helped her survive. Moses is a thug turned good guy ~ BIG question mark there. He was the head of a theft ring in Biloxi, MS but has since spent the last 15 years after meeting and leaving Mags doing…. I’m not sure what. He is an enigma on that point. What he isn’t mysterious about is his feelings for Magnolia. He is there to get her back and willing to pull out all the stops to do it.
This fast-paced first in the duet revolves around Moses and Mags circling each other while Mags deals with someone out to kill her and her former house under investigation. March doesn’t make her characters circle for long. She understands that wasted time and words with character coyness are no fun. Her Moses and Mags rekindled flames burst in good time giving the story the heat that March is known for before the last page comes to a screeching cliffhanger halt delivered by Lachlan Mount himself.
Creole Kingpin is a scorching, engrossing addition to the March library of alphas and the women who match them.
